We had a wonderful time in 'Lava Rock Hale' - we had the best sleep ever! There is just nature around... millions of stars at night, you can hear the wind in the trees, the rain on the roof and the singing birds in the morning - just a mystical and perfect place for deep relexation, freedom and happiness! If you like the Puna Coast (who does not?!?) this is the place to stay. Eric and Diane are the perfect hosts! This is our real gem... We will come back for sure!!
Thank you so much - mahalo, Andrea & Christoph
We had a fantastic stay at the Lava Rock Hale. It's an awsome place and Eric and Diane are perfect hosts, who made us feel very welcomed.
This Hale has everything you need and it's "Go green". We really enjoyed our stay there and would give six stars if possible.
Diane and Eric were wonderful hosts. My first contact with Eric over the phone I immediately liked him. When we arrived Diane greeted us with open arms. She's super sweet! Our stay at the hut was so incredibly relaxing with jungle views from every window. Amazing bird and nature watching too. The hut had everything we needed to cook our meals so we were able to save by not eating out as much. The bed was very comfortable, the fan was perfect to stay cool. The land and outdoor shower is beautiful. We had a truly amazing time.
Diane was a fabulous host (I didn't meet Eric). She gave us a thorough and welcoming tour, and showed us exactly how everything worked. When we had questions, she was available by phone to answer them. The horses on the property are very friendly (as were her dogs). Be warned, there are few windows with screens. There is a ceiling fan, but it does not provide much air circulation. It gets HOT during the day! And keep the door closed to prevent mongoose from coming in.
What can we say other than that everything was awesome?!:) Eric and Diane are a wonderful couple and did everything possible, to make our stay as comfortable as can be! The Lava rock hale looks exactly like it was pictured, the open outdoor shower is great (water is heated naturally during the day and gets quite hot!- but you can adjust). At night the temperature in the hale is perfect! We didn't even need to turn on the fan. There is a fridge, a gas stove, snorkeling gear, beach towels, a tv/dvd player and a super comfy bed:) Eric and Diane are great people and we would stay there again anytime! It is a bit far away from the city but the nature around the hale is just something you don't see everyday! Mahalo Diane and Eric! Thank you for being the greatest hosts we've had so far!:))
Diane and Eric welcomed us upon arrival with open arms, they are lovely hosts and cared for us. The description how to find the place was correct and easy to find. It was exactly as Eric had described the place, in the bush though with a neat garden around. Showering in the open (night) air was an amazing experience and the lava rock hale itself was great.
We were greeted at our car with smiles and friendship! Lovely and unique place that was a lot like camping out without the dampness and discomfort. This place was a big change from normal life which is what we were really looking for. Really back to nature and relaxing. When they suggest the hot springs...listen. It was a great time and TAKE THE SNORKLE GEAR. Great break from our normal lives. When you leave your sandals outside, put them on the shelf. Mongoose may take the time to leave a calling card! (it took us a few days to figure out the problem with our car). Highly recommend!
