About This Listing
Bocas del Toro is one of the premier destinations for holidays in the Caribbean and Over The Water Rentals is your hotel home away from home in a tropical paradise. We offer all the comforts of home including fully equipped kitchen.
The Orange House is a one bedroom double storey romantic getaway built over the water with unobstructed views of Saigon Bay. Upstairs you´ll discover your king size bed in a lofted bedroom with walk in wardrobe and large private balcony overlooking the bay, with your all-important hammock.
Downstairs you´ll find a fully equipped kitchen with 5 burner stove and oven as well as large fridge. The kitchen has an island table separating it from the living area with couch and TV corner. Large double doors lead out onto the downstairs terrace which has a dining table and chairs for those sundowners and breezy dinners outdoors.
The downstairs bathroom is large and spacious with his and hers vanity basins as well as a large shower with hot water and toilet.
The Orange House also has its own dock with lawn chair furniture which is ideal for enjoying a great book and winding down in the sunshine!
Kayaks and Bicycle can be rented and tours on the traditional duggout boat can also be arranged for those who prefer the road less travelled. From bird watching outings to finding some remote beach to call your own for the day, the islands will not disappoint.
Our hosts were great - welcoming, helpful and very laid back. The house is just like its pictured - very cute and clean. The front deck was the best - gorgeous view and tranquil. Exactly what we were looking for. Its close to the airport on the main island (so very convenient to get to when you arrive) and close to the main town (5 min cab - 15 min walk). Situated in a neighborhood full of locals -- this is the perfect place if you are looking to experience real Bocas, away from the tourist hubbub.
We loved staying here! My husband and I stayed at the orange house during our first two nights in Bocas del Toro. It was perfect: comfortable, clean, simple accommodations. The porch over the water is a perfect place to relax and take in the view. The bedroom upstairs is amazingly comfortable. I actually haven't slept so well in months. The cross breezes and sound of waves underneath the house helped with this too :)
Dennis and Daria were super warm and friendly, and made us feel totally welcomed. They gave us some great recommendations of how to spend our time on Bocas too!
The house is right around the corner from a grocery store, which has basic provisions. Bocas Town itself is a nice 15 minute walk down the street or a very quick and cheap cab ride. We cooked breakfasts at the house and then mostly ate out or picnicked on the beach for lunch and dinner.
If you have time, definitely take a quick kayak out in the bay (Dennis and Daria have a pair they can lend) just before the sun sets -- definitely worth it!
Our stay at the orange house over the water could not have been any better. Even though Bocas is very small, this is probably the best location to stay. Being close to everything but still outside the rush and noise of town center is ideal.
After a short taxi ($3) we could feel at home the moment we arrived.
The hosts had all the information about Bocas that we could ask for and was there whenever we needed anything.
I would recommend Over the water rentals to anybody wishing to visit Bocas.
Claudia and her front-line staff - Daria and Dennis - were wonderful and most helpful, both before we arrived and throughout our 4-day stay in this idyllic, tranquil, charming, beautiful and VERY romantic getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and our hosts. Additionally, having access to kayaks right from our deck was a special treat - one we took full advantage of. The amenities are excellent (super-comfy bed, good WiFi, fully equipped kitchen, hot showers, a/c), and the home is well secured. Also, while the house is situated a little off the mainstream (10 - 15 minute walk to downtown ), we still had easy access to a few great little restaurants/pubs (Bocas Brewery, Chikita's) and food stores nearby ( 5-minute stroll). This place is a treasure, and so are its hosts.
Claudia's orange house was absolutely fantastic! I'm so glad we opted for her place as opposed to the downtown area, which is noisy and uninteresting. Her place was relaxing and a 5 minute walk from restaurants/ boats/ tours.
Claudia, Daria & Daria's significant other are amazing. They picked us up from the airport, showed us around, and gave us ideas for things to do-- very very helpful since I did not do any research prior to getting there. They are also right next door/ boat so if you have questions they are right there. When we followed up to get the contact information for a tour that they told us about, Daria booked it for us and even arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the house the next morning. I can't emphasize enough how terrific they were and how much choosing this house influenced what a good time we had while we were there!
P.S. (And this has nothing to do with the house or Claudia & co.) If you go on a tour or hire a boat, avoid the dolphin bay. It's weird watching 7-8 boats converge on a dolphin every time it comes up to breathe!
Claudia and Marlon were very helpful and hospitable hosts during our stay :) the property was easy to find, all the cab drivers know where to find the area called Saigon aldentro. We liked that the property was not in the middle of the tourist area, it provided us with the best morning and sunset views in peace and quiet, away from the crowds. Each day, we would make coffee and breakfast, enjoying the view over the water then walk into town to enjoy the multitude of activities available. The walk takes about twenty minutes, but you can also rent a bike for your stay or catch a cab for $1 into the town. Just a short walk from the house is a market which sells everything you need. Also nearby is a few open air night clubs, a beach and a local Brewery. We can't say enough about the charm this place has. When the doors are open, a beautiful breeze cools the house. It had all the conveniences to feel at home (coffee maker, stove, refrigerator, pots and pans, and plateware). The upstairs is a loft bedroom with an outdoor patio complete with a hammock and sofa looking over the bay, and it has an air conditioner in it! The only time we needed to use it was at night when all the doors and windows were shut. The bed is a cali king size, and super comfortable. The deck is lined with conch shells, plants, and charm. Claudia let us borrow her kayaks and offered snorkel gear. Marlon lent my fiancee a fishing rod and invited us to go fishing with him and their son. While in town, we had a blast, hiking, zip lining, snorkeling, island hopping, Riding the atv's, going to the beach, and enjoying all the wonderful restaurants in town! We would highly suggest renting this home over the water for it's privacy and charm.
