A large double bedroom with beautiful private bathroom and sole use of the spacious first floor sitting room with sea views, our Victorian home is situated on a quiet street in the popular coastal village of Tynemouth.

Our house is a few minutes walk from the award winning beaches of Longsands and King Edward's Bay, loved by surfers, strollers and families alike. Tynemouth village, with its varied restaurants, cafes, bars, delis, independent shops and supermarket is on our doorstep.

The space
You will have sole use of all the rooms on the first floor of our comfortable and stylish home with its eclectic mix of modern and antique furniture and beautiful and interesting pieces of art.

Our house is only a few minutes walk from two lovely beaches, Longsands, famous for its surf and family friendly cafes and King Edward's Bay with its magnificent view of Tynemouth Priory, and Riley's Fish Shack, recently included in the Good Food Guide, where you can sample fabulous local, freshly caught produce cooked over a charcoal barbecue.

Tynemouth village is a five minute walk away. Here you can browse the local independent shops or choose to visit one of the many restaurants, cafes and bars. There is also a well stocked supermarket in the village which is open 'til 10 pm each evening. The amazing Tynemouth indoor market runs every weekend selling everything from paintings and pottery by local artists, antiques, furniture and jewellery to books, flowers, street food and bric-a-brac. Always a bargain to be had and a lovely way to while away a few hours regardless of the weather!! We are a five minute walk away from Crusoes, a popular local wedding venue, and two minutes walk from Tynemouth's Grand Hotel.

We have a large and comfortable private sitting room where you can unwind and watch the world go by or relax and watch a film after a day's exploring.

There are excellent transport links via bus and metro to Newcastle, a large and vibrant city with many theatres, cinemas, galleries and restaurants as well as fabulous shopping and beautiful architecture. Newcastle's quayside is home to the restaurant House of Tides which was recently awarded a Michelin star and is well worth a visit. We can recommend many other restaurants both in Tynemouth village and in the nearby seaside town of Whitley Bay.

North Shields fish quay is a twenty minute walk from the house where you can buy locally caught seafood, sample the tastiest fish and chips or take the ferry across the river to South of the Tyne. Further afield, we have the beautiful Northumbrian coastline, ideal for walkers and cyclists.

Guest access
We provide a complimentary breakfast of cereal, toast, juice, fruit and yoghurt in your sitting room. In your bedroom you will find a Nespresso coffee machine and a kettle with a choice of teas. If you would prefer a more substantial cooked breakfast, we can recommend one of the many excellent local cafes. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate them.

There is a mini fridge in the bedroom where you can store drinks and snacks. Fresh milk for tea and coffee is provided along with bottled water and fruit juice. Your private bathroom has an original roll-top bath and a large shower. We provide complimentary toiletries and also have a portable shower seat should you require one.

Other things to note
A very friendly family dog (who is not allowed upstairs/on same floor as guest accommodation) and two cats share our home.

We offer free secure parking for cycles and motor bikes in our large double garage, great for 'Coast to Coast' enthusiasts and for the Percy Park motor cycle convention.

Guests are very welcome to use Netflix but please do not download any 'pay to view' films on the television. We do not subscribe to Amazon Prime.

Please let us know if you need a travel cot and we will have one ready in your room. We also have a high chair which we are happy to set up in the sitting room. You are very welcome to use the kitchen to heat up milk or baby foods, or to wash up your breakfast dishes. The kitchen is on the ground floor, second door on the left.

*We have an extra double room listed in our home which can only be booked in conjunction with the main guest room. This makes our house ideal for two couples who wish to stay together or for families travelling with older children. My husband and I discovered Airbnb as travellers and loved it so much, we decided to become hosts ourselves. My interests include renovating our Victorian home in Tynemouth village (which we share with Phoebe, the adorable golden retriever and a couple of attention seeking cats), food and cooking, antiques, art and interior design and reading. Tim’s interests include Bridge, guitar, golf, and cycling and we both love walking and travelling. We have been Airbnb hosts for over three years now and have been lucky enough to meet some lovely people, several of whom have become regular visitors and friends. We hope to welcome you too.
