My 4 bedroom home has everything right beside it; pubs with traditional music and local sea food, supermarkets, fishing, amazing beaches, golf, mountain and hill walking. Relax after a day out in front of a real open fire or with freshly brewed tea in the country kitchen. Family/kid friendly.
This is a strong 1950's built warm family home. The rooms are large, spacious and elegant. The Milford area provides infinite country walks, hill climbing, lake and sea fishing and great pubs with live traditional music and great craic. In 15minutes you're at the featured beach in the photographs as well as the beautiful villages of Rathmullan (7km approx) and Ramelton (5km). Milford is a real Irish village oozing history, heritage and friendliness! Enjoy!
Guests have access to the entire house and its amenities; open fire places, wardrobe space, fully equipped kitchen. We encourage our guests to make themselves at home!
The best thing about Milford is its wonderful location nestled at the mouth of Mulroy Bay between the Fanad and Sheephaven peninsulas, it's brimming with opportunities for outdoor activities while having all the conveniences of having great supermarkets and lively friendly music filled pubs right on the door step of this house!
There is ample free parking right beside the house.
There are numerous buses available from Dublin airport to Milford.
What a wonderful experience we had in this lovely cosy village house in beautiful Donegal - when we arrived we were welcomed by a roaring fire & a plate of fresh baked scones & great local tips/advice on things to do . The house is very large with fresh linen & towels and also a good big kitchen where we made breakfast with local sausages/(website hidden) is very central as next door to the village shop with a Lidl just up the road too. After arrival, we visited the local pub where we also dined on good fresh seafood and the local people were so welcoming & friendly. There was even traditional music and a sing song with turf fires blazing & even the piano that Enya used to play is there .
On Gerard's advice next day we went for an early walk on the local Portsalon beach which is breathtaking & later Gerard took us to his Uncles horse riding school nearby. All in all a perfect host & my foreign guests said it was best glimpse of the real Ireland on their 10 day visit & hope to come back there for longer next time .
Truthfully, the only regret I had was we could not stay longer as so much to do . Thank you Gerard for the wonderful Irish hospitality .
Booked this house for my 21st birthday and have to honestly say that it was one of the worst experieces of my life. We travelled nearly two hours to find the house was cold, damp and there was even a dead aimal left for us in the freezer. Our group had bought food and had already paid for this house before we arrived and ended up having to book a hotel for the night which meant all that money went to waste. I was left that devastated one of my friends had to make the call to the lady to tell her we could not
stay. We did not even recieve an apology.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOUSE!
I'm not at all surprised at the spiteful review of a child who despite extremely helpful and efficient advice, CHOSE to spend her birthday in what she perhaps naïvely perceived to be a party house or a chav nightclub to which she is perhaps more accustomed. My house is neither cold nor damp and as well as the oil heating, I had prepared a roaring fire for the party's arrival at my own expense. As always, clean, fresh bed linen and towels were provided. Perhaps the guest did not anticipate the two hour drive which she also cites in her 'objective review', but coming from where she does (enlightened and blissfully progressive at it is) teleportation has not yet hit the beautiful shores of Donegal. I am relieved however that the guest chose not to stay in my house, as the giant dead beast (which was a small frozen duck kindly left by a friend in my freezer) might have jumped out and bit her. Finally, I would like to say to any 21 year old that if a night in a country house turns out not to be the bling plastic night you'd hoped for in which to celebrate your 21st, and if that in turn heralds "one of the worst nights of (her) life"....get ready for several disappointments along your journey.
We had a great time at Gerard's home in Milford. We drove daily to Derry and it took less than an hour which is convenient. The 7 of us fit comfortably into the large 4 bedroom house - Gerard and Bernadette were so hospitable towards us and helpful with our problems. They even made scones and set the fireplace for us before we arrived. Clean sheets and towels were provided and the flexible check-in/out time suited us very well. I would definitely recommend this place for large groups, thanks for the stay!
