We arrived at 4am and Guillermo was kind enough to wait up for us. Room and bathroom are perfectly adequate considering the great price. We found that we needed to walk down the hall way to get the wifi but that wasn't really a problem. The best thing about this place is the convenient location. 20 mins from the airport and walking distance to the historic centre and the giant park!
I like the location, it is close to the metro station. Gillermo is a warm hearted person and willing to help me have a nice experience about the neighbor and the city. He told me how to find a convient store nearby and some simple spanish. Very appreciated.
The longer I stayed with Guillermo the better it became. His apartment location is the best. I walked to the Bosque de Chapultepec, the neighborhood is filled with restaurants, the Mercado Juarez is across the street and the metro is at the market. An excellent location and Guillermo knows the city.
I stayed ten days using their kitchen and bath. It was stress free and an enjoyable stay. I'd recommend it for an visitor to this exciting city.
You definitely get what you pay for... we were in it for the location (great access to the Roma and Condesa neighborhoods, as well as walking distance to the Zocalo and Chapultepec, and access to a market, convenience store, coffee, restaurants, and Metro stop within blocks). Did not expect this to be a luxury stay, but it would have been nice to show up and have clean sheets - we walked in and it looked like someone had just rolled out of bed. We probably should have asked to have them washed but realized they didn't have a dryer and just . We stayed in a room that is not actually shown in this advertisement. The shower sometimes only gave cold water and often smelled like raw sewage (just the water flowing under the drain, don't worry... a lot of Mexico City smells like that), and mattress was the worst I've ever slept on (my partner and I kept rolling to the middle in an oddly appropriate taco-like way, and the unwashed sheets also did not stay on the bed at all), but like I said, if you can overlook those sorts of things for the sake of a particularly inexpensive stay in a great location, I'd recommend this. The building itself is also pretty darned awesome - beautiful courtyard space. The family was hardly ever there - we barely talked to Guillermo, as his wife let us in, but he seemed friendly and helpful.
TIPS: figure out how you're going to get into the building (no buzzer/doorbell to their apt) before you arrive if you don't have a way to call Guillermo from out front (we didn't have cell service), otherwise you will be wandering around confused like we were. Have them show you how to use ALL of the doors and locks, as they are misleading and you don't want to get locked out. Make sure they washed the sheets. Make sure they help you get on the wifi. Sleep with earplugs in - all of the doors are incredibly noisy and likely to slam. Have a warm sweatshirt for the room... it stays really cool. Talk to the neighbors across from you - they are artists in residence! We ended up needing to buy toilet paper, soap, etc, as they had run out - but there's an OXXO (convenience store) at the end of the block for those things.
Guillermo is very nice and gave me some great restaurant tips. The apartment is in a safe neighborhood, a block away from the metro and a mercado I rather like. The apartment itself is in an old building and not in the best shape but if value, safe neighborhood, and good location are what you're looking for in Mexico City then I would recommend this place.
