Interaction with Guests
The hosts are multilingual and live upstairs, so the attention is personalized and uninterrupted.
In this varied neighborhood, native Chaunís , Riffians, Moroccans from Fez and Tangier, and foreigners like us, live in perfect harmony in a friendly and safe environment .
The houses and shops are always open; children play in the streets, artisans show their workshops, mountain women display their products (all organic) ...
Chefchaouen’s vibrant Medina has preserved its authenticity and it is becoming one of the most visited not only by foreigners but by the same Moroccans who see it as a jewel of their culture and their idiosyncrasies.
Cars are not allowed in the Medina.
If coming by car we will tell you where to leave it.
If coming by bus it is best you take a petit-taxi to the Medina as the bus station is on the bottom of the valley.
Other Things to Note
Chefchaouen deserves a couple of days stay so you can literally get lost in its unique streets and many shops.
It is also very interesting to devote another day visiting Akchour at the Talassemtane National Park, (only a 45 minute drive) to enjoy nature at its purest state… a lasting memory for children and adults.
For the more adventurous, there are trekking routes across the mountains which can last from 1 to 5 days. Guides and lodges available in situ.

This place is absolutely beautiful and the hosts Ricardo and Nieves were lovely. We decided last minute to head up to Chefchaouen from Fes and Ricardo made sure to meet us and walk us to his home, map out places to eat and explore, and make us a delicious breakfast. We stayed in the room with the big queen beg and it was very comfortable. Even though they had guests coming in the next day, they let us leave our bags in their home until we departed that evening. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Since the moment we were booked Nieves and Ricardo were helping us in our travel plans, not just on how to get to Chefchaouen. When we arrived Ricardo came and met us and gave us tips on where to eat and showing us land marks in case we lost our way. When we arrived to the house we were amazed at how beautiful it was. Everything had a place, from the fireplace to the adorable kitchen off of the terrace. This place was made for relaxation!
They were the most amazing hosts! We felt like we were being taken care of by our own family! They helped us get a great guide to show us Ackshour where we went on a 5 hour hike and went to a great place for local food to fuel us after jumping in the river.
Also the breakfast was spectacular..yummy Spanish mix of things with Moroccan breads and yummy local eggs.
This place was hard to leave because we connected so much with these kind, smart, traveled and wise people. They are truly special people and we are so glad to have met them!!!! Thank you for showing us the wonders of Xaouen!!!
Amazing visit. Ricardo and Nieves were so welcoming, giving us terrific tips, sharing about their knowledge of the region and country, and making us feel at home. If you can, stay with them in their beautiful house. It'll be the perfect home-base in Chauoen.
From the beginning to the end, Ricardo and Nieves were very welcoming and helpful. A map and explanation of points of interest was very helpful. We were so excited to get to Chefchauen that we neglected planning how to get back. By then the buses were sold out, but Ricardo gave us a lot of time to explain other transportation methods. The breakfast the next morning was just what we needed to start our day, and we were very grateful for their flexibility with our arrival time. One of our guests slept in a little past breakfast the next day, and they were nice enough to make her a bag to go before she went off to the taxi station. All around, Nieves and Ricardo were great people to interact with. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable.
Chefchaouen is a magical place and the house of Ricardo and Nieves is nice, clean and the view from the terracce is amazing.
Ricardo and Nieves let us feel like we are visiting friends. the breakfast was the best we had in Marocco.
i am definetly planning on coming back to Chefchaouen and i can strongly recommend to everyone Ricardo and Nieves home.

We are a Spanish couple who, after travelling the world over, decided to live a simple life in this small Moroccan town. For us it is beautiful to be able to enjoy this simplicity and, when we`ve had enough, we jump on a plane and fly to New York, Berlin, Delhi or another crowed place. We have friends all over the world and now, through airbnb, we can meet more people without leaving our home.
