Cathy will check on you everyday and tell you of events happening while you are there. she is a culture buff and enjoys sharing her love of Trinidad.
Our neighbors are very supportive and watch out for our guests. We are on a quiet street. You will enjoy walking down to the end of Benjamin Street. There are many beautiful and unusual homes to see.
The main road is just a half a block away. There you can catch a maxi tax into town for less than $1.00 usd. It will take you to city gate and from there you can get anywhere on the island for just a few dollars.
We expect that you will fall in love with Trinidad and it's culture. We are located in a quiet residential area. Respect for your neighbors is required.
Cathy was able to quickly answer all of our questions about Trinidad and make us feel comfortable even before we arrived. She provides a lot of services to make your trip enjoyable and has a lot of knowledge of how to make the activities you want to do happen. Great if you are looking for a structured vacation. We were a more play it by ear group, which caused us to feel slightly pressured to make decisions quickly and pay for her services. Great if you want a hands on experience from the host, however with 5 of us, sometimes we just wanted to wander around or try experiencing taxis services, which doesn't fit nicely in to an itinerary. Sometimes, there wasn't communication on what we would be paying for and how much it was so make sure you talk about these things before hand. Overall great for those who want a live in tour guide, but may be a little stressful for the play it by ear folks.
I’m sorry you felt I pressured you into doing things. I didn’t intend that as I was only trying to be helpful. I didn't want you taking a local taxi at 1 in the morning by yourself. It would not have been safe.
As we are talking about (phone number hidden) a person). There was the $15.00 phone rental charge that is clearly stated in our information book. As everyone came in at 3 different times on your arrival day I usually have the 1st person sign the check-in form which states that they agree to the prices listed in the book. It was my slackness on not getting the check in form completed and signed. It was in your apartment on the dining table the 3 days you were here. I think you know that having the phone was a convenience for your time liming late at night on the avenue and while on the beach. The other disputed charge of $10.00 was for taking you around 10 pm to the Avenue to Lime and picking you up at 1am. Again, That was a safety issue for you. I reduced the rate on your request, I reminded you that I discounted the 3 airport pickup rates by 35%. I picked people up at 6am, 2pm and 1030pm and brought some to lime and party on the Avenue at no extra charge. How would we have coordinated that without the use of a local cell phone?
Did I not arrange for a great dive experience in Tobago? I would love to know how you all enjoyed your first scuba dive.
Peace and Love.
I can't stress how wonderful Clyde and Cathy made our first trip to Trinidad! From answering numerous email questions, to picking up our jouvert band costumes before we arrived in Trinidad, and picking us up from the airport...Everything was taken care of. Cathy really made our trip stress free. The rooms in the two bedroom apartment were clean and comfortable. Cathy planned a fun-filled, yet affordable itinerary for my group of 5. Chef Baby's breakfast and dinner was wonderful. The driver, Daniel, was attentive to our every request to see the island. We love D'Lime Inn so much, that we're coming back in 3 weeks! This will be my home away from home when visiting Trinidad. Thank you, D'Lime Inn! :-)
Do not hesitate to book here! "We bring the culture to you" is a statement that is 100% accurate! Clyde & Cathy are very knowledgeable and welcoming! Cathy went out of her way to give us great suggestions, drew maps for us, provided everything we needed! She made it a point to make sure we were well taken care of. The 6 of us were given a spacious, clean, cozy apartment with a full kitchen. The neighborhood is fantastic and very safe! A short walk around the block will lead you to many stores, banks, & restaurants. The grounds are very well kept and very secure! Clyde is the John Coltrane of the steel pan! It would be a sin to leave without hearing him play. We are all making plans to return this summer! One of our neighbors was a 5th time returning guest! All of us understand why! Look no further - everything about this booking is 5 star! A definite cultural immersion!
Fantastic host!. It was like going from home to home. Cathy and Clyde gave us a memorable time!
Cathy arranged all our transport needs, took us to key calypso and pre carnival events, we met Queen of Calypso: Queen Rose through her.Clyde shared his extraordinary talent and knowledge of steel pan with us , and took us to a "pan yard".
Overall, they were fantastic, and the environment us quiet, manicured garden, with private pool area. What more can one want ?
Thank you so much Cathy & Clyde xxxx
We appreciated our stay at Dlime in Diego Martin. Although our stay was short, we had a good time. We felt safe in the aparment and the environs. The apartment is situated in a quiet area yet one has access to a range of services and is close to Port of Spain.
The complimentary items provided such as tea and water was welcomed. We would recommend DLime further.
Clyde and Cathy are great hosts! Even before we arrived they were going out of their way to answer questions and help us make local connections. As promised, we met musicians and heard wonderful live music there. The location is just a few blocks off the Diego Martin Main Road, and therefore very convenient to public transport in to Port of Spain and beyond. But while you're in Clyde and Cathy's neighborhood you feel like you're away from it all -- with great views of forested mountains and parrots flying overhead. Our daughter LOVED the pool! This is an ideal home base for a visit to Trinidad. Highly recommend!
This place is a gem, Cathy and Clyde have so much to offer at their bed and breakfast. Just a few miles north of POS, they offered rides to and from the airport and also downtown to the avenue. We showed up and they had a full binder packed with important and helpful information, trips, excursions, meal plans, etc.
Clyde is an amazing steel pan musician and Cathy is an amazing host, always checking on us, offering us meals. The chef Baby makes the best hot sauce and meals. Their friend, Vanessa, and Cathy both gave us wonderful suggestions on where to go out at night and where to buy some groceries.
About the Host, Clyde & Cathy
Clyde and Cathy George are a Trini-American couple with a passion for steelpan, calypso, jazz and hospitality. They met on a cruiseship in 1978 where Clyde was performing with his band "Sunny Days" and Cathy was escorting 100 sales persons who won an incentive cruise to the Caribbean on NCL's Skyward. They lived in Chicago for over 20 years where Cathy ran her travel agency, Space Travel, and Clyde performed in Chicago clubs with his Chicago trio "Steelin' Jazz". Clyde introduced the steelpan to jazz musicians in Chicago. Both musicians and audiences were astounded with his execution of jazz on the steelpan. Led by his love for straight ahead American jazz he mastered American jazz standards on Steelpan.
Chicago jazz musicians call him "Thelonius Clyde” because he often calls out a difficult Thelonius Monk standard in a jazz jam. Other Jazz musicians call him the BeBop Panman. In Trinidad he is known as "Lightning". This name was given to him by Clyde's teacher and the inventor of the double tenor pan, Bertie Marshall. Bertie noticed how quickly Clyde could learn a piece of music and started calling him Lightning.
Lightning’s brilliant improvisational skills are recognized and appreciated by
the world’s finest jazz artists and audiences alike. You can check out his playing on youtube/mrslightning. There you will see some of the shows produced at D'Limelight of D'Lime Inn.
