Thanks for your response. In answer to Shika’s concerns: 1) proactive communications -I explained to Shika that there was a family emergency, hence the reason for me not being present for their arrival . This was a highly distressing situation for me that I could not predict yet I still made other arrangements to ensure they could access the flat.
2)”inconvenience”-I suggested to Shika and her partner that they make their way to a nearby coffee shop to wait while I made arrangements for the keys to be dropped off. This was ignored. I then offered to pay for their taxi into town, their bags to be left at a luggage storage facility-and their taxi back to the flat. Given that check in was after 5pm and Shika asked to leave their bags early morning, it was me that was already doing a favour by agreeing to let Shika in before the check in time. The inconvenience was minimal, 30mins max, so I think this complaint is totally unjustified, especially when I covered the cost of two taxis and left luggage.
3)heating. The heating can in fact easily be controlled from the flat, in the hallway. I asked on several occasions if Shika had any questions or concerns, there was never any mention that they were cold. My flat is well insulated and was on a timer for the heating to be on morning and evening-no guest has ever complained that it’s cold, in fact the opposite. All Shika has to do was ask and I would have told her how to turn the temperature up!
4)expensive -yes, it’s Edinburgh, it’s Hogmanay...what do you expect?! I have a clear and accurate description of my property and the location. My prices were no more than what other properties of this size and standard are charging -and if the price is not to your taste, there is always the option to choose a cheaper, lower quality property!
Overall I’m disappointed with Shika, it’s a very unfair review that does not accurately reflect the situation.
