Costambar is a gated community like a small village, you find everything what you need! :-) beautiful, nice beach, soft waves and not deap some diferent restaurants for a fresh fish or just a Cuba libre.
In the community you find a small supermarket, Restaurants, Farmacie and the golf court with the clubhouse.
You have a big big masterbedroom with bathroom with a great oceanview. The other bedroom with a small bathroom and a third small kids room. You have a big livingroom with open kitchen and dining room with enough of space and a dining table for 8 person.
You are only 7 min. away from Puerto Plata what is the next big city. You can easy go around by caro publico (dominican Taxi with 6 persone) for a small money like 50 cents or take a Motochoncho (Motor Taxi).
Nearby we have the Ocean World with Casino for a great day trip or a swimm with the Delphines, or go up to the Mountain Isabelle with the botanical garden and a great view over the whole city. You like to try kitesurfing? They show you how to fly in Puerto Plata at the Malecon. A other attracion are the 26 waterfalls DAMAJAGUA.
To Sosua its about 25 minutes drive or the next tourist village is Cabarete.
Try it you will love it :-) and meet the local peopel...

BAD*BAD*BAD!!! Please Take a 2min and read this:. We rented from Astrid in January. We rented a car and drove up from Punta Cana. When we arrived in Costambar here husband met us and showed us to the house. He was very nice and courteous. He told us they had no power in the house currently and it would be on within an hour or so. We put our luggage in our rooms and called Astrid. She was very nice and knowledge avle and told us all fun things we could do around Puerto Plata. We drove around for a bit waiting for the power to come on. When we came back there was still no power so we called Astrid again and she said they would have it up in another hour or so. We thought that was odd because everyone on the street had power except us. We then went to an Italian restaurant down the street to eat and charge our phones. 2 hours later around 9pm we still had no power so we called Astrid and she said well you'll just have to wait until tomorrow morning "it's the Dominican Republic" still not sure what she meant since every place had power. Except ours. When we woke up Astrid called and assured us we would have power. Around lunch time and after being lied too several times we packed our stuff and made arrangements to find another place. We went to the Iberostar which cost a lot of money since it was last minute reservations. We called Astrid and told her since we've gone more than 22 hours in a place with no AC, working showers or fans that we were leaving. She became hostile and rather than trying to help us she immediately said well your not getting a refund. Later she offered 50% but after the money we spent finding a new place and having to listen to her lies and trying to shower with a broken shower and cockroaches crawling around. we demanded a full refund. After hearing that she became unreasonable. We put the case to Airbnb and they gave us a full refund. I learned 3 things from this experience. 1. Never rent from Astrid 2. Use Airbnb, they will take care of you if things go wrong. 3 The Iberostar is amazing
Astrid was a fantastic host! She was very quick to respond to all inquiries and the house was phenomenal. Honestly, it was more than we could have hoped for. We met with Gudy while in Puerto Plata and she helped us arrange our hike to Damajaguas, and gave us a nice overview of restaurants and activities in Puerto Plata. Gudy also went above and beyond and sent my passport to Santo Domingo after I had left it in the house. Both Astrid and Gudy are great hosts. The house is in a nice quiet neighborhood, just minutes from a beautiful relaxed beach. But it's still very close to the main city, and it was very easy to get around using public busses, taxis, etc.
I highly recommend Astrid, Gudy and this amazing ocean view house! The house is very spacious, three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, WiFi, everything you need for cooking, relaxing, and having a great vacation. I will definitely be back!
I was just there the end of April 2014. We had a good time. I used to stay with friends in Costambar and hadn't been back in 10 years. Astrid was extremely helpful and answered all questions even helped with organizing arrangements for excursions if we wanted. She had a property manager, Gudy, look after us while she was away. And if we needed anything she was just a whatsapp msg away. Super friendly and accommodating. We love the town its nice and quiet and 10 min walk to the beach. And the pizza spot, Sole Mio is great!
The only thing was when it got hot in the evening and you locked the house up there wasnt much airflow so I will suggest some stand up fans. All the rooms have ceiling fans except one. We only used two of the rooms but if we had of, the person would have been too hot to stay in there. There was no air flow.
All in all a nice home. Simple and quiet
We stayed in the home of Astrid and Marcin for a month and we are very happy we did. As we are a couple that are on a half year trip, both for pleasure and work, we needed space to set up our "office". At first we wanted to rent the bungalow which has a more modern setup, but has a lot less space. Astrid was so kind to recommend us this house. The house is spacious has a good kitchen with everything you need. 3 bedrooms and 2 showers.
Costambar is a very quiet gated community with a little supermarket, a few restaurants and a few beach (website hidden) feels safe and there are a lot of internationals around. Only a 5 or 10 minute drive to Puerto Plata by car, motoconcho or taxi. Good place to stay. However, if you want to be in the middle of everything and your staying for a shorter period, I would recommend a stay in Astrids bungalow in Sosua. This is located more central.
We would definitely recommend staying with Astrid and Marcin as they are very kind, try to help you with whatever you need and is they're just great people to hang out with! Very happy we made the choice to go to Dominican Republic and rent from Astrid!
