Escape to ‘Almost Heaven Ouray’ — our charming retro log cabin retreat in Ouray, the ‘Switzerland of America.’ Nestled hillside just a 5-minute walk from the famous Ouray Hot Springs and downtown shops. Our inviting 2-bedroom, 2-bath cabin with loft sleeps up to 8. Enjoy peaceful mornings on the large front porch overlooking the Uncompahgre River, cozy evenings by the wood-burning stove, and stargazing from the private cedar hot tub. Seclusion, comfort, and vintage Swiss charm await! 🏔️

The space
Our warm and inviting 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom log cabin features a spacious loft that overlooks the living room below.
The main level includes a cozy living area with elk antlers adorning the walls, a plush mid-century style leather couch draped in soft fur throws, scattered vintage magazines that transport you back in time, and a wood-burning stove for those chilly mountain evenings. Guests especially love the charming vintage record player — perfect for spinning some classic tunes and setting a relaxed, nostalgic mood.
The retro-inspired kitchen boasts brand-new retro appliances that enhance the nostalgic alpine charm, and a fun, fully stocked coffee bar awaits to fuel your mornings (or late-night card games!).
Gather around the large wooden table that seats six (with plenty of room for more) — ideal for card games, family meals, or board game nights.
Upstairs, the open loft is a fun retreat with three twin beds (with one trundle), comfy beanbags, a desk (great for remote work), dressers for storage, and Swiss chalet-style pillows that tie into our cabin’s unique theme. Comfortably sleeps 8 guests, up to 10 with the 2 trundles. (Small fee for 8 or more guests.)
Step out to the large front porch for peaceful mornings or evenings listening to the soothing sounds of the nearby Uncompahgre River, with stunning mountain views all around. The private backyard is your own secluded oasis, complete with a fire pit for stargazing, a relaxing porch swing, outdoor tables for dining al fresco, a barbecue grill for summer cookouts, and a beautiful private cedar hot tub for soaking under the stars after a day of hiking, jeeping, or exploring Ouray’s hot springs.

Guest access
Our cabin is situated on 4.5 acres, feel free to explore. The property runs the length of the driveway to end of the backyard and extends about halfway up the hillside. Hiking and exploring is at your own risk. The hillside is steep and frequented by bears. If exploring bear spray is recommended and remember to make a little noise. 🐻😁

Other things to note
• Winter Access: Our 75-yard gravel driveway can become snow-packed during winter months. We recommend a 4WD or AWD vehicle with good tires for safe and easy access. We do our best to keep the driveway plowed in the winter. Feel free to message us with any questions!
• EV Charging: We offer a dedicated NEMA 14-50 outlet for fast overnight charging. Please bring your own compatible charger (we don’t provide one). Let us know if you have questions about setup or compatibility.
• Complimentary Coffee: Enjoy fresh coffee to start your mornings! We provide enough for about 2–3 cups per person during the first few days of your stay.
• Heating & Cozy Vibes: The cabin is comfortably heated by a reliable gas furnace, with supplemental baseboard heat in the bedrooms and bathrooms. For that classic mountain cabin feel, we include 2 bundles of complimentary firewood—enough for a relaxing fire in the wood-burning stove for a few evenings. If you’d like extra wood for longer stays or bigger fires, just reach out and we’ll arrange it.
• Mountain Dust: Ouray’s dry mountain climate loves to sprinkle a little extra “mountain fairy dust” on the outdoor porch and chairs— especially in spring and fall before the annual road treatments kick in. We give it a thorough cleaning before you arrive and leave a leaf blower so you can blast away any fresh dust arrivals. It’s all part of the authentic Ouray mountain vibe!
