Sabine's cottage is exactly as described. In the heart of Ashland and walking distance to the Shakesphere Festival, restaurants and shopping. Very cozy, clean and all amenities we needed. We plan to be back in next year and hope to stay again. Sabine was available if we needed anything. Thank you very much.
My husband, my 1 year old twins, and myself stayed at the cottage for the 4th of July and were so happy to have found such a wonderful place to stay! The cottage is well maintained and in great shape which is important having two little toddlers walking around. The sun room made for a great play area for the babies while mom and dad relaxed at the table noshing on some of our favorites from Ashland's own Shop 'n Kart (boy do I miss that place!). The cottage was the perfect space for a nice family get away and thank heavens for the AC! It's nice and close to downtown so we were only a few blocks away for the parade. The neighbor next door was a very sweet lady with her two adorable dogs. During our stay we didn't have a single noise disturbance, even during the holiday weekend!! All around a great place to stay and Sabine is a wonderful host! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Ashland. We most likely will be back ourselves! :)
We (my wife and I) had a wonderful time and Sabine's place was just as advertised. It was beautifully and tastefully appointed, clean, and convenient to everywhere we needed to go in Ashland. We used our car to go to the Oregon caves and Crater Lake but it was idle after that and we spent 6 full days there. We didn't actually meet Sabine until two days before we left but we talked on the phone and both she and her husband were very helpful in answering the one or two things we were confused about. My wife and I commented on how much more we got out of our experience at Sabine's than we would have had we stayed even at a hotel/motel or B&B that was as conveniently located. Sabine also brought us a couple of bottles of wine and some delicious chocolate. Incidentally this this Ashland and OSF trip was a combination honeymoon and first anniversary for my wife and I and Sabine and her lovely place made our occasion really memorable. We'd love to stay there again.
Everything was very nice. Other than a few small furniture additions/ rearranging, everything was as pictured. I would definitely recommend.
Please note the bathroom is very small and the shower will not work for those with functional or access needs. Very large individuals may also have a hard time in the bathroom. The upstairs gets very warm, but there are 3 fans and a screened balcony door that can be opened. But the downstairs stayed nice and cool.
Sabine was a great host. She does not live on site (there are renters in the main house), but she was great about texting and checking in to make sure everything was good.
Great location for walking around town!
Thank you so much for your nice review, Ruth! I am glad you liked your stay and had I known, that you had slight challenges with the size of the bathroom, I would have offered you to use my husband David's in the main house, since he was out of town and that bathroom is much roomier! Even though, I am not always on the property, our friend and caretaker Susan, is always their to fill in for us and accommodate the guests!
Hope you will be back again!
All the best, Sabine
This cozy, adorable nest is almost beyond belief ! The sun room has the dining table and a desk overlooking a garden; it is nothing short of magical to have all that light and beauty. The sleeping loft (Huge !) allows for guests on different schedules and is airy with two closets. It was exactly as advertised and Sabine was very welcoming. The location is very convenient to the downtown, yet is nestled away from traffic. I will stay, again, at this sweet nest as soon as possible !
Sabine was a most welcoming host and provided specific, detailed information to make our arrival seamless. A bottle of wine was there to welcome us and we settled right in. Sabine was available (via text, phone or email) to answer any questions and everything we needed was provided. The location was right in the heart of Ashland near the park, Shakespeare, shops, restaurants, farmer's market, etc. allowing us to walk everywhere, but the only grocery store we could find did require a car trip.
The cottage is appointed with upgraded linens and towels, and provides all the basic needs in the kitchen, as well. The decor conveys sophistication and Sabine's artistic touch is evidenced throughout via artwork, window coverings, and lighting.
The pictures accurately show the cozy, comfortable cottage and yard (the bed is LOVELY!) but you need to be aware that the yard does not actually seem to be for the cottage, as displayed. We had looked forward to relaxing in the garden under the umbrella; unfortunately, the yard was occupied the whole weekend by the next door neighbor who seems to share it. This is not an issue if you are there to partake in all Ashland has to offer, it only affected us because we were only there to visit with each other. The neighbor was not noisy or in any way intrusive other than we did not have the seclusion we expected; we retreated to the balcony off the bedroom instead.
Our whole stay was lovely, and I would definitely return for more of Sabine's gracious hospitality. This is an excellent choice for your stay in Ashland!
Thank you so much for taking the time for your detailed and over all positive review! I am pleased, that you liked your stay and I very much appreciate you taking the time to pointing out, what did not work for you. I will definitely address this and change our profile page for the cottage, so our guests get the right impression! My friend Susan, who is living in the main house on the property also takes care of the garden and made it as beautiful as it is! It is her pride and joy. And also our other tenant, who lives in the main house is very welcome to use the garden, since it is all a part of a little community, which reflects the whole spirit of Ashland. And we welcome everyone, even if it is only for a couple of days, to take part! So I hope, you take an over all pleasant experience home with you and will be back again in the future!
All the best, Sabine
We loved staying in this quaint cottage, and meeting the hosts who were very accommodating. Easy check in, great location, a lot of character.

About the Host, Sabine
My husband Dave and I are both professional artists for the last 23 years. We moved 7 years ago from Sonoma County to our Ranch in the Rogue Valley to continue our breeding operation of Andalusian and Lusitano Horses. We love animals and the beauty of the nature that surrounds us. In our younger days, before our animals tied us down, we loved traveling extensively and still do, when we get a chance. I speak fluent German, and my Italian and Spanish are rather rusty, but I am still able to communicate.
