Hi! I have a private room (with full-size bath, bed, dresser, table, and desk ) available in a two-bedroom two-bath apartment in the historic Bassett Street area of Madison, Wisconsin. A stone's throw from the Capitol and the lakes, this room is in a fun area! Stop by!

The Space

The room will comfortably fit two, although I've seen three squeeze in. The bed is a full-size bed, with awesome sheets, a body pillow, a couple of head pillows, and access to one or two blankets as you like. The bathroom is attached, with sink, shower, and up to one body towel and one face towel per guest.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to wireless internet (you just have to send me your MAC address so I can add your device to the network filter), my kitchen, my living room, my deck, a bedroom, and an attached bathroom. Washer and dryer are available in unit and free for guests to use!

Interaction with Guests

When I'm in town, I interact with guests as much as they'd like. When I'm not, I keep in touch with guests as much as is possible, in order to ensure their comfort and accommodation in the area.

The Neighborhood

I live right on the border of a young, vibrant, college-age neighbourhood, though the apartment complex itself is in a neighbourhood mostly comprised of graduate students and young professionals. It's absolutely the best of both worlds, and situated right next to two gorgeous lakes and one of the most fun downtown experiences the Midwest has to offer!

Getting around

I live right across the street from two bus stops and mere blocks away from most of the downtown bus stops, along with two of Madison's many bike-sharing stations. There's a CVS about a 3-minute walk away, with everything else you could possibly need a 10-minute walk away. UW-Madison's famous Union Terrace is about a 15-minute walk away, and the State Capitol is about a 7-minute walk away.

  • Abhinav was very responsive and helpful before the visit. He was not there during my visit so he arranged for the key pickup with a friend. The apartment was clean and easy to get to. Towels & soaps were provided.

The neighborhood felt safe during the day & night. The neighborhood area is clean and well kept.

Parking was available on the street from 6pm to 8am (info posted on street signs ) . During the day I moved my car to the city parking (see my tour map of Madison (website hidden) ) near the hotel my conference was in.

Tip on parking: you need to get your car placed near 6pm otherwise you may have to hunt around for a street location.

It was summer time for my visit so university students were not as many. In the fall & spring school time I could see parking being a bigger problem.

City parking is very inexpensive, all day (8am - 5pm) parking was $10. 24 hour parking is also available in several close garages. See (website hidden) for details.

The weather was very nice so evening walking to the later conference events was very easy.

Abhinav checked in during my stay, offering to meet up when he returned from his trip. I appreciated the offer.

If you are a runner, there are lots of places to run and sights to see. If you bike, there are bike paths plus Madison is a bike friendly city.

I would highly recommend Abhinav's place in the future.

  • Staying at Abhinav's felt like staying at a relative's place out of town -- safe, clean, casual, quiet, and easy. I don't have any cousins, but I imagine this to be like that (maybe Abhinav will let me adopt him as my cousin). He was out of town for the weekend, so a friend patiently met me on arrival and then even walked me to the nearby Echo tavern, where I welcomed myself home with a Friday Fish Fry. I had my own little space and a comfortable bed and bathroom. Abhinav checked on me via text every day, and departing could not have been any easier. The only issue, if you have a car, is parking, since there are few spots and many of those are 2 hour spots (not a problem on Sundays, but otherwise..), but I actually didn't have a problem finding something in a 3 block radius any of the 3 nights that I was there. Excellent central location. I would stay here again if Abhinav would have me! Thanks for a good first airbnb experience.

  • Abhinav is a great host, he makes you feel welcome and is very helpful. And did I mention that the location is perfect? Whether you want to go to one lake (and terrace) or another, it's both a short walk. Thanks Abhinav! Recommended!

  • This apartment is conveniently located in close walking distance of the Monona Convention Center in downtown Madison. Abhinav was helpful in letting me in on the day of my arrival (accommodating a last-minute change in my travel schedule) and setting me up with wireless internet, then let me have the apartment to myself for the remainder of my stay.

  • The apartment was very much as advertised, and having a private bathroom was a big plus for me. Abhinav was an excellent host and very willing to share his company and local knowledge when he was there. I needed private time to work and the balance was perfect for me. One of the best points was the location- near the lake and an easy walk to downtown, shopping and the university.

  • This rental was not entirely satisfactory because the host was not available when we arrived in Madison (when it was about 5 degrees outside.) The guest did not gain access for about 4 or 5 hours after arrival in the city; fortunately, we had friends we could wait with. There is no cable tv with the room. The furnishings in the room met the expectations of the professor for whom I had rented the room.

I enjoyed staying with Abhinav for about one month and was happy to experience a time full of meeting new people and enjoying my stay.

  • I really enjoyed staying in Abhinav's apartment. It was cosy, welcoming and pleasant. He was thoughtful, communicative and a terrific host. I only wish he had been in town longer so we could have gotten better acquainted.

  • I enjoyed staying in Abhinav's apartment. Abhinav was actually out of town when I visited, but he was flexible and accommodating in facilitating my stay. It was clean, spacious, and located close to both the university campus and Capitol square. The apartment was a good value for the money. I also really enjoyed the stylish look of the apartment.

Well the languages list is pretty lame. I can speak English, Spanish, and Telugu (on a good day) fluently and can scrape by in Hindi, Swahili and Tamil (on a good day).
