We stayed in Cosy Cottage for a week over the New Year holiday and can testify to it being clean, warm, welcoming and comfortable. Its kitchen had just about everything that we could have wished for in the way of equipment, including a dish washing machine. The lounge was ideal for quiet, warm evenings in front of the fire ( we had no need of the TV, DVD or music centre). The bedrooms were comfortable and the bath and shower room was spacious and warm. Kirkby Malham is a small, quaint North York Moors village, just far enough from Malham to be saved from being overrun by tourists. It has a beautiful church and the various people that we met there were kind, helpful and friendly. Thanks to Caroline for making us welcome and for very fulsome information at the cottage and sent by e mail in advance.
Thanks Brian, and for taking such good care of my home. It's interesting to hear that you meet the locals round and about, and that they are so friendly to people they don't know! It says a lot about the village.. They tell me later that they've 'bumped' into you. It's a pity I don't get to meet you! Thank you and happy travels in the future.
The house was very comfortable. We had access to everything for cooking and relaxing. It was in a very quiet hamlet and pitch dark at night. We were able to sleep so well.
The cottage was more than it says on the description. Very cosy and everything you need provided. It is in a lovely village with surrounding walks everywhere. the pub in the village is good and an even better one walking distance in Malham. We had a brilliant time , lit the fire on wet evenings and couldn,t stop smiling the whole time we were there.Would love to go back.
County Cottage is a wonderful old Yorkshire stone cottage in the village of Kirkby Malham in the Yorkshire Dales. The accommodation was exactly as portrayed on Airbnb, warm, welcoming and a wonderful place to stay whilst exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Whilst the host Caroline was away, her neighbour and friend ensured that everything was ready for us and looked after any of our needs. Caroline herself was easily reachable by email. We loved every minute of our stay in this olde worlde cottage. If one is looking for contemporary and minimalist accommodation, this is not the place, but if you are looking for charm, a warm welcome and comfortable stay, I cannot recommend this cottage and its host more highly. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Thank you Esther. It was a delight to communicate with you and I'm pleased you had such a good visit. Nice to know my old cottage is appreciated; I do try to keep within the spirit of it's age and that of the Dales. You've just told me that I'm getting it right! You have a great positive presence and outlook. Continue to enjoy your travels. My best wishes. Caroline
I spent a week with my daughter and her boyfriend at Coraline's cottage. It was a great experience. Everything in the cottage had a personal touch, and even we never met Caroline, we could learn a lot about her due to so many fantastic books, souvenirs from different trips around world.
Great experience. Very tastefully decorated. Wish we could have stayed longer. Best part (apart from comfort and facilities) was the collection of books and literature that Caroline has left for her guests - am sure you will find a range that covers from the expansive Universe to your back garden. Be ready to retreat to the world, where, even mobile phone can not reach you !
Caroline is a kind person and a smart host, gave us all the information necessary to be able to spend our stay in the cottage. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need, strategic to visit some of the most beautiful places in the Yorkshire Dales.
