Sweetest Cottage in Venice Beach

House - Entire home/apt · Angelus Place, Los Angeles, CA 90291, United States

Newly-remodeled cottage keeps you in the heart of it all, while affording you total privacy and quiet. We designed the cottage to be a warm and bright retreat from the hustle of everyday life. It really feels remote and peaceful.

The Space

"Thea & George were awesome hosts and their place is absolutely amazing. It's a perfectly appointed private cottage tucked away on a quiet street on the back of their property. We wanted a place close to the beach but far enough away so as to not be in the middle of the action all the time - this place was the perfect medium."

"Thea and George's cottage, set off a quiet road, is bright, clean, and cheerful. It's newly renovated, with great attention to detail, making for a relaxing stay. The location is a short walk to the main drag of Abbot Kinney, where you'll find lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, and the buzz of Venice. There are bikes available, too, and Thea's family have a super sweet dog. Overall, it's a beautiful flat and is recommended for anyone who wants a relaxing time in a great neighborhood with friendly, attentive hosts."

This is a super-sweet cottage in the back of our property, perfect for a professional looking for a quiet place to come home to after a hard day's work, for a couple wanting some peace and quiet, or for a family with one or two small children. We've just renovated it, and furnished it with lots of love and care. IT IS BEAUTIFUL!

We're one mile from Venice Beach, half a mile to the Venice Canals, and six blocks from the famous Abbot Kinney shopping street, with LA's trendiest boutiques and restaurants.

The cottage is roomy and very bright, with five skylights and wood floors. It has a full kitchen, with fridge, toaster and 3-burner antique gas stove. The bedroom area can be closed off from the rest of the space by a semi-circular folding door, and it is furnished with a queen bed. The living area is spacious and bright and right now it has a full-size bed that can be used as couch/daybed or sleeping for one or two.
The cottage has its own outdoor table and chairs with an umbrella, idyllically situated under a big bougainvillea tree.

We provide:
- linens, towels and beach towels
- a full kitchen with pots and pans, tableware and some basic cooking staples (ketchup, oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, sugar, coffee, tea, etc.)
- shampoo, conditioner, soap
- two adult bikes (use at no charge, you fix them if they break)
- wifi
- there is ample free parking on the street, you just have to yield the street cleaning signs to avoid getting a ticket on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, 8-10am.

  • Great apartment! Great location! We were in LA only for 2 days and we had many places to eat and see around the apartment.

  • This cottage has lots of amenities and is in a great location. It is just as it appears in the photos...a decorators touch is evident. We loved the graffiti wall in the bathroom. We enjoyed the privacy and the high speed wireless internet. Unfortunately for us we did not notice that a TV was not included.
Thea and George are marvellous hosts and we have interests in common. I enjoyed chatting with them one day while they were weeding.
While the space is cute and clean, the furniture is not suitable for relaxing. Perhaps it is my age. At 70 and 5'2" I found the tall yellow stools hard and uncomfortable. The second bed is also very hard.

  • This is a wonderful cottage that is well-situated in Venice to allow great access to the beaches, Abbott-Kinney shopping/dining, and easy transport to many parts of greater Los Angeles. There were three of us and we found the layout of the place cozy, but still spacious enough to allow a couple and a child to stay comfortably. Our dog enjoyed the canine company, too!

We'll hope to return on our next visit to Los Angeles. Thank you, Thea and George.

  • George and Thea were wonderful hosts. The cottage was spacious, clean, comfortable, and trendy. The beach and local attractions were within walking distance. Would definitely stay again!

  • Um, wow. This suite was beautiful and airy and bright... it has it all! George and Thea are wonderful hosts and very friendly and easy to talk to. The location of this property could not be better! There are grocery stores very close by and all the amenities you could possibly need or imagine. It is close enough to LAX that traveling from the airport is a quick jaunt and yet more than far enough away that the noise of planes coming and going wasn't remotely an issue... couldn't hear 'em, couldn't see 'em! Thanks so much George and Thea - we really enjoyed our stay with you and will look for availability at this property whenever we come back to the area. All the best to you and yours!

  • What an awesome place to stay! George, Thea and their daughter were lovely and friendly. Great place.

  • We loved our 3-night stay at the cottage! Great accommodations - comfy beds, great shower, lots of light. Enjoyed the outdoor space too and the flowering grapefruit tree smells amazing! Fun neighborhood close to interesting shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again, so much nicer than a hotel. It's a great option when you want to save a bit too, it was nice to pick up groceries nearby and have breakfast each morning at the cottage.

  • This little cottage is so charming! I was in town with two co-workers. Before we headed back home, we wanted to spend a relaxing evening in Venice Beach. This place was perfect for just that!

  • Had a great time. I only stayed there for one night, but it was really comfortable.

For people concerned about the dog, it *definitely* is a friendly dog, so don't worry about that, at all.

The interesting things about Venice Beach all seem to be at walking distance, but I loved being able to take one of the bikes; made it so much easier to get a taste of the area during my short stay.

  • Great stay in a really excellent location. The cottage is all that the listing says. And the hosts are great - during my stay a plumbing problem occurred and they resolved it as quickly as anyone possibly could. It turns out that Venice is 20-25 minutes from anywhere in LA, which is nice as well -- as long as you aren't going during rush hour!
