This is a very comfortable one bedroom furnished house and large yard. The house has a well designed open floor plan, wood floors, high ceilings, a comfortable queen bed, large couch, desk, and a kitchen bay window with a seating area looking out into the yard. There is electric heat, a laundry, broadband, and Roku. We accommodate long term stays for people moving into the community, here for work or school, long vacations, or just a break from your usual housing routine - minimum of 30 days.

The space
It is a lovely, private one bedroom house, walking distance to the Fairhaven historic district, about 800 sq. ft. built in 1992. The house is cozy, welcoming, and inviting, with high ceilings and an open floor plan. Everyone who has ever lived here has loved the place. It is well insulated, making the house quiet and not subject to temperature swings. It also warms quickly and keeps in the warmth a long time. There are solar panels on the roof.
There are mature plum and apple, and pear trees on the property, and a fig tree. There is a tall evergreen laurel hedge along one length of the yard, a couple low stone walls, several rhododendrons, azaleas, and a beautiful large mature madrona tree, which I planted thirty years ago. Deer wander in and out the yard, and I have bird feeders close to the kitchen and living room windows. There is a nice red brick charcoal grill for summer barbecues, and a comfy hammock in the yard for warm afternoons and late summer evenings.

Many people have stayed at the house for extended periods of long vacation time, extended family visits, or while searching for permanent homes in the area. We are close to Western Washington University and have accommodated academics and teachers visiting the area for work and research.

Guest access
The property has a large outbuilding near the parking area which has been used at various times as a workspace, yoga studio, a wood shop, and sporting gear storage building. The WiFi reaches it and it is now a work space and rec room with ping pong table, Euro recliner, and electric fireplace. The studio is an extension of the living space available at this home.

The entire yard, house, and studio are yours as our guests.

Other things to note
Also, this area has exceptionally good quality air and water, being close to the cooling marine air from the Salish Sea and close to the North Cascades. The Bellingham water supply originates from the glaciers of the Mt. Baker.

We look forward to welcoming you on arrival and handing you the keys. If there is anything we can do to make your visit more pleasant please feel free to ask. My wife and I live in a separate house next door. So I am available if you have any questions, and available if you need to check in late. I am here to be a supportive host in any way I can.
