This first floor room has a super comfy double bed, large L-shaped desk, custom 6 foot closet with lots of hanging and shelf space, a ceiling fan, AC and heat vents, large casement windows, and a natural sisal rug. It's a great room with open space.
This is a small bedroom, which can comfortably accommodate one person. It's on the first floor of our house. The kitchen, living room, and dining room are on the same floor. . You will share a bathroom with the other guest on the first floor, if there is one.
Upstairs are additional bedrooms, with other guests, who will be using a different bathroom.
You should expect to share the kitchen, living room, and dining room with other house members but your room is your own.
The neighborhood is suburban, has lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and public transportation is within 1 mile of the house. You can walk to bus or train stations which will take you to NYC ( 30 - 40 minute train ride ) or the the Hamptons or Montauk.
My place is unique in that it's large but cozy. Home is where the heart is and I love my home and I love sharing it. If you want quiet, curl up in the living room or on the back deck and read. If you want company, there's usually someone willing to talk or listen to you! I love my home and I'm sure you will too! It's the best that Long Island has to offer.
Guests will have access to the living room, dining room, kitchen, and den, as well as the backyard and pool in the warmer weather.
Interaction with Guests
I follow my guests' guidelines when it comes to interactions. Although most of my guests are students, and quietly read or study during the week, many people will gather in the kitchen for conversation when they want company. I am home most evenings for those who want to chat and love getting to know my guests.
You will love EVERYTHING about my neighborhood. It's safe, clean, quiet, peaceful, friendly, and you will be surrounded my nature. My yard and street has huge trees that provide shade in the summer as well as beautiful winter scenery in the winter. Taking a quiet walk through the neighborhood is one of my favorite activities.
There is convenient parking right in front of my house, and public transportation via buses is only 6 blocks away. The Long Island Railroad is within 20 minutes walk and will take you quickly into NYC if you want to go there. Trains and buses will also take you to museums, beaches, vineyards, botanical gardens, and every kind of store you can possibly imagine.
Other Things to Note
One thing you should know about your accommodations is that, in addition to your room and the clothing closets and drawers that are included in that space, you will have your own shelves and drawers in the kitchen to store whatever food you might want to purchase and prepare on your own. Each guest has a labeled space for their groceries and basement storage for large, bulky items as well.
Please treat my home with respect.
No smoking. No pets. No overnight "guests" of guests permitted.
Only one car is allowed to be parked in front of the house. No large or loud vehicles are welcome.
Clean up the bathroom and kitchen when you are done using it. Put your belongings away and wash, dry, and put away any pots, pans, or dishes that you use. If you use the laundry room, please remove your clothes from the area immediately upon removal from the dryer. Keep all of your personal property in your room. Please respect other guests needs for quiet and privacy. Please ask Tom or Geri if there is anything you need or if you need help with anything. Enjoy your visit and make yourself at home. Welcome!
This was the first time I have booked through Airbnb and I must say it was a really good decision. Geri and Tom have been exceptional host. Geri has been prompt in her response since booking time - till the time I checked in.
They have a very beautiful house and they are proud of it. I loved the stay and the long conversation I have had with Tom and other guests. Tom has been very helpful in terms of guiding me around NY and also helping me find place. He used to go out of his way to help me.
Thanks Tom and Geri for letting me into your house and I will always remember the stay. Hope to keep in touch once family moves to NY.
Thanks Nitin, I can not wait to meet your family, and we will most certainly stay in touch. I'm glad that Tom was so helpful with housing guidance. He has lived on Long Island his entire life, and I've been in New York since I'm seven years old. We both love it here because there is so much to do and see on a daily basis, as well as plenty of spots to relax around the house and yard too. The schools are great but the people are even greater. You will love your new town, Syosset, but make sure you come to visit us often in Roslyn. Speak to you soon. Thank you for all your kind words.
I have been to/from Geri's house several times in the past year. It is like going home to visit family. Your other guests are amazing also. I have made friends with other guest that I will keep in touch the rest of my life.
Thank you fro opening up your home to us.
Geri was an amazing host and it was so awesome to stay at her house! Everything was very clean and I had everything I could possibly need available for use. She's very nice and has lots of good advice for exploring New York and surrounding areas. I really enjoyed our conversations but had more than enough privacy at the same time. The other guests there were also really interesting to talk to and I enjoyed my stay greatly!
Geri and Tom were great hosts- it was my first time doing airbnb but I greatly enjoyed my time there. They were very welcoming in their home and everyone had the chance to eat meals together if they so wanted. They were cogniscent of everyones individual needs living there and tried to make everyone comfortable. Great experience meeting these two:)
Geri and Tom were so kind and welcoming to me. Even though my flight got changed and I ended up showing up at a different time! The room is exactly as pictured and quite big. Geri is an interesting lady and it was fun talking with her about teaching and life on Long Island.
Geri and Tom were great host. They understand you and try to help you. I always had a great discussion with Gery and other roommates at house.
Geri was a great host! The room was really spacious and I was always welcomed in the entire house (and pool!). Really can't say enough about Geri and Tom as hosts, but both were always willing to do anything to make my stay as enjoyable as possible, from giving me rides if I needed one to making me a cake on my birthday. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area!

I'm originally from Indiana, and moved to NY when I was 7. I have been married to my husband, Tom ( a native New Yorker) , for 28 years and we have 4 grown children. We both love meeting new people, reading, skiing, traveling, and hosting guests in our beautiful home. I am a 4th grade teacher in Brooklyn, a borough of NYC, and my husband is a retired NYC firefighter who owns and manages a sign and awning business. (Mineola Signs and Awnings) I like to bake, decorate, organize, play piano, take photographs, spend time with my adult children, garden, read, and relax in the backyard. My husband likes to garden, swim, walk, watch the Yankees, BBQ, and spend time with family and friends. We have a great relationship and we are each others' best friends. Our motto is "Find work that you like, and you'll never work a day in your life." and we are both fortunate in that we love our jobs. Another motto that we have live by is to "Live beneath your means." and that has served us very well over the years. We are easy-going but hard-working people and we take pleasure in our home and surroundings. We started hosting on airbnb to help pay for our daughters' wedding (in October 2014) and our son's college (he graduates in 2016) but have loved the experience and meeting so many new people that we will continue hosting for many more years. We love our house, and you will too!
