Note: Please note, before you contact us for a reservation: We have a strict policy of not booking guests who have "empty profiles" and about whom we know almost nothing. Interaction with Guests
We are here and want you to be as welcome and comfortable as possible. We are available to assist and advise you in any way we can. We are Brits but have lived here for 23 years so know the area well and enjoy meeting new people. We will be around during your stay and will prepare continental breakfast for you each morning - always a good time for a chat!
However, please understand we are a B&B, not an hotel. We expect our guests to be out and about during the day as we work from home and often have meetings in the house. If you want to hang out somewhere for extended periods during the day, you would be better off getting a hotel as they are equipped for that.
Very close to beaches, shops, Montecito village and downtown. However, none of these are walking distance.
There is no public transport close to the house, so you really will need a car.
Other Things to Note
Unlike many others, when we say B&B, we mean B&B! The price includes a full continental breakfast each morning, with Peets French-roast coffee, tea, fresh, home-baked croissants, Greek yoghurt, fresh fruits and granola. Hooray!
DOGS: If you wish to bring a dog, please ask in advance. If approved, a nightly pet fee of $20 will apply.
HOT TUB: The Hot Tub needs to be heated from cold on each use, so we charge a $10 fee to cover gas usage.
A few basic rules:
1. Smoking only allowed in the garden.
2. Please put your dirty dishes etc in the dishwasher.
3. Please do not park in front of the garage.
4. We provide breakfast, so please don't ask if you can cook your own. :)
5. Check out time means ... check out time.
You can be sure we will try our best to be the most excellent hosts! For anyone new to Airbnb, below are a few thoughts lifted from GIZMODO on how to be a great Airbnb guest!
DON'T IGNORE YOUR EMAIL
Last-minute changes to the host's schedule make it crucial to be in touch as soon as possible. So stay reachable in the days leading up to your stay. And, if at all possible, check your email when the plane lands or before you arrive.
DON'T MISS ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIMES
Hosts are not running hotels, and they don't have a reception desk. The host absolutely needs to know a firm check in time, as far in advance as possible. Sometimes separate guests leave and arrive on the same day. The place has to be cleaned and prepared for the next visitor. For extensions of check-out times (or the occasional 7 am check-in), a host will try to accommodate. Guests can usually leave luggage behind during the last day, or drop it off early if the room isn't ready yet. Just be sure to ask in advance.
GO OUT AND HAVE FUN!
B&B = Bed & Breakfast! In a shared space, the best tenants spend most of their time out enjoying the city. If you're looking to shut yourself in and hang out all day, look for a whole-apartment Airbnb rental.
Hotels have maids. Airbnb has hosts. As Airbnb put it in an email: "Consider stripping the beds or taking out the trash to go the extra mile." Well, that would be fantastic. Use the campsite rule—leave no trace.
COMMUNICATE PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS
A host hates to read post-visit reviews complaining of not enough towels. You know what? If you want another towel, just ask. The host is not trying to hold out on you, but the host can't know you need something unless you speak up. All hosts want you to have a good stay, but it's up to you to say what to do to make that happen.
Always feel so welcome and comfortable in Richards' beautiful home. Beware, that this place seriously will ruin you for any other AirBnB though. It's perfect!
Thanks again Richard. Already looking forward to my next visit.
The experience at the home of Richard and his wife was stellar from the moment we arrived. The home was truly a work of art. The entire property felt peaceful and serene. Our hosts were gracious, accommodating, and kind. They gave us brilliant dining recommendations and educated us on the area. I highly recommend staying here.
Our host, Richard met us the day of our arrival at our scheduled time. He was really great with communication via text and email. All of the photos of his place were spot on. This was really a lovely place with a spectacular view. This was my first Airbnb experience, I can only hope that all of my future experiences can go this well. My friend and I ended up having a wonderful conversation with Richard (our host) on the night of our stay there. It was a pleasure talking with him and he shared a few ideas with us as well. I highly recommend staying here if you're looking to stay at a nice, neat and quiet place.
Be sure to enjoy the freshly baked croissants during your stay.
We had a fantastic 2 night stay with Richard and found him to be warm, cheery and endlessly helpful, besides which, he bakes a fabulous croissant. He had lots of suggestions about how we might spend our time and they were all dead on. The room we enjoyed was private, very clean and beautifully appointed. Very comfortable bed!
We hope to stay again when visiting our son at school.
Richard is a very welcoming host and has a beautiful home with a fantastic view out to the ocean. The room I stayed in was lovely and had a wonderful cozy feel. The bathroom was also tastefully decorated and had a great shower.
The home is run like a Bed & Breakfast and Richard provides a really yummy morning meal of freshly baked croissants, yogurt, fruit and tea/coffee. Since it's a B&B you might run into other guests over breakfast, but everyone is out and about during the day.
Highly recommended. Enjoy!
Richard's spectacular home is what Airbnb is all about! Where else could you have access to a magnificent mansion overlooking the Pacific, interestingly designed with fabulous original art and lovingly tended to by a fascinating guy like Brit Richard who serves up a deli sh breakfast each morning? Only on Air! I loved this place and I plan to make it my new home away from home on the way down the coast from now on. Montecito is a super special, exclusive neighborhood close to everything. The place (of course) has all of the Creature Comforts and is a great deal! Richard's home is perfect for the discerning guest with sophisticated tastes and sensibilities. Richard has straight forward House Rules that aren't for everyone, but for me, just right. It is a civilized, immaculately cared for space with comfortable beds and beautiful manicured gardens. The pool and spa are just lovely. I could go on and on! LOVED IT!!
Montecito Island View is my favorite accommodations when I come to Santa Barbara. Quiet, beautiful, comfortable and the best hosts around. Always looking forward to my next visit. Thanks Richard and Kirsten for opening up your perfect home.
