We are happy to show you around or answer any questions you have about the city when we are not at work!
Riverwest is an up-and-coming neighborhood close to the river and the lake. It's safe and easy to get around by car, foot, or bus.
We are located within walking distance of numerous bars, restaurants, and cafes!
Although it would be helpful to have a car to get from our house to downtown, it's not required! Uber, taxis, and the bus work just as well.
We are just a block away from MCTS bus stops for the 15 and 22 lines, and a few blocks away from the 60 and 10 lines!
Alas, Milwaukee was just a quickie for me. I wrongly assumed that little had changed in the 9 years since my last visit. Anyway, Kerry's place was an excellent crash pad, which sounds more reductive than necessary. It is easily accessible via 2 buses from MKE and the neighborhood has a slightly edgy Anytown, USA vibe to it. You could probably walk to the Lakefront brewery tour, though I was too lazy. The bed was super comfortable, stacked with pillows. And the bathroom was clean and well-stocked. I think it was for my use only. Not being much of a dog person, I had no issues with Kerry's dog, which she kept upstairs. So, overall, a very amenable 24 hours. Approved.
We had a great weekend in Milwaukee and enjoyed staying at Kerry and Andrew's home. Their house is very nice--clean, comfortable, and welcoming. We especially liked the proximity to live music venue Mad Planet and the company of their sweet dog! Will definitely recommend staying here to family and friends.
Sorry that we barely got to meet our hosts (and greet their cute Spaniel) since we arrived late and they were early out to work, but their newly remodeled little house was lovely and comfortable for our one night stay. The bedroom and our private bathroom were both spotless with clean sheets and plenty of towels.
They prepared a nice package of guest amenities - tourist info, bath supplies, etc - and set us up with provisions for a DIY breakfast before heading out to work at oh-dark-thirty (never even heard them leave!) WiFi connection was smooth, key exchange was easy and we were able to park our rental car right out in front of the house. (Make sure to ask them about city on-street parking regulations.)
The neighborhood might seem a bit sketch at first glance but it's really fine - just about what you'd expect for being on the edge of Hipstertown in Milwaukee, close to lots of amenities and easy to find. Would stay here again anytime!
Oh my gosh you guys! You have to stay here! Kerry's home is amazing! Wait until you see the kitchen island! It's incredible!
Kerry and her husband were there to welcome us and the room was wonderful. We were only in town for one night but I wish we could have stayed longer.
Be sure to enjoy the neighborhood and stop at Cafe Hollander before you leave.
Kerry and Andrew are wonderful and sweet. They let my partner and I stay in their home for the weekend, and even let some additional friends sleep in the spare room next to ours at the last minute. Their home is beautiful, and they were completely flexible about when we left and got back, even allowing us to keep our stuff there while we were gone late the last day. Although I didn't actually get to meet Kerry this time, Andrew was pleasant and welcoming to us all and I'm sure I'll be requesting to stay with them again in the future!
About the Host, Kerry
My fiance and I live in a single-family house with our dog, Madiba! I'm a teacher and he works in security, but in our very little free time we like to explore the city, go camping, and try out Milwaukee's famous beer!
