About this listing
A lovely downstairs bedroom with adjacent full bathroom. Walk-out to the private backyard with a stunning view West of farm and hills. Room features a comfortable double bed. Large adjacent room available for writing, relaxing. Quiet neighborhood within walking distance to town. Cat in residence.
Peace and quiet for two! The view is quite amazing at any season so our deck gets a lot of use (off of the upstairs livingroom). You can have breakfast there if the weather is good, and it's nice on a starry evening.
Guests can make tea and coffee in the kitchen during the day and have access to the living room, deck, and yard. You can do laundry if staying longer than 3 days. There is parking for one car in the driveway. I have brochures on hand for local activities, restaurants, and events.
Interaction with Guests
I am around in the morning and am always available by phone.
This is a dead-end street and very quiet. This street is where many of the mill owners of the town lived at the turn of the century so they could look down on the river and paper mills. After the mills shut, the barn or stable side of the terrace properties were sold and slowly smaller houses filled in. Mine is such a house. There are lovely trees lining the street and many of the old houses still remain.
AmTrack comes right to Bellows Falls each day. If you wish to arrive by train, it is possible to be picked up with prior arrangement. It is about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive into downtown from the house. There is a bus service that stops at the bottom of the hill that goes to Putney and Brattleboro. Most people drive so they can explore the area. Our location has access to the many interesting towns that surround us: Walpole, Saxtons River, Chester, Putney, Grafton, and Brattleboro.
Other Things to Note
Must like, or at least tolerate cats. I have one cat.
Reasonably quiet after 10pm. No pets. No smoking on the property please.
Amie was a perfect host. She made sure that we had everything we needed, provided us with information about the area, and delighted us with her knowledge of the history of the town and the area. We really enjoyed our conversations with her. Her scones were delicious and so was the rest of breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and her home is beautiful. The area is lovely too. Overall, we had a wonderful stay.
amie was a terrific host for us in our first air bnb stay; great communicator with directions to her home, agreeing on arrival/departure times, breakfast needs, helpful with details of town and area; an inspiring home inside and out, extremely clean; view is nourishing; exactly as pictured; it takes a special person to open their home to travelers and we are grateful to amie for being that person.
Our stay at Amie's home was an incredible experience. It is one of the loveliest homes I have been in and she is a warm and wonderful person. Our bed and bathroom were impeccable and we slept soundly. Our breakfast was tailored to my dietary needs which was not expected however welcomed greatly. Views from her deck are incredible and we would love to move in permanently! Thank you Amie for all!!
My son and I had a delightful stay at Amie's place and left wishing we had an excuse to stay longer. Amie's home is lovely, her hospitality warm and inviting. And her scones are delicious! ... Who knew such a refuge could be just five minutes from our downtown destination after breakfast? We truly lucked out for our very first AirBNB experience. Many thanks to Amie for a wonderful weekend!
Aime was an incredible host. She was extremely welcoming, friendly and willing to help with recommendations around the area.
We had a great time exploring Bellows Falls, Grafton, and Chester- and it was great to have a warm home with Aime's accommodations right around the corner! We would be back in a heartbeat.
Had a nice one night stay with Amie and Julian. The room was large and nicely furnished. The breakfast was exactly what I ordered: two poached eggs, bacon and scones with coffee. I enjoyed a stimulating conversation with Julian. And they allowed me to do three loads of laundry there. (I was checking my son out of boarding school and did not want to store his winter stuff all dirty.)
About the Host, Amie
I am a graphic designer with a penchant for interior design and interest in textiles. I love to travel and have lived in East Africa. I enjoy the beauty of this river valley and feel that I'm lucky to live surrounded by small towns, each with their own unique offerings. There is so much to do in the country! I enjoy the music and art scene in this area, and the focus on good food, natural surroundings, and community spirit. I have been part of a book group and the latest book we read is "Beautiful Ruins", a great summer read. I have a kayak and try to get out on the inlets and lakes. I also love to get to NYC and Boston to museums and visiting family and friends. It's a full life for me here in Vermont!
