Our Historic Firehouse Tower originally built in 1922 as the Hose Tower for the Downtown Central Fire Station was renovated into a 5-story apartment. Modern/Industrial style with original exposed brick and colorful, bold accents. Rooftop access where you can enjoy a view of downtown and public art installations, and a beautiful view of the new Caddo Common - an urban green space located directly next door. Shreveport Municipal Auditorium is 1 block away and Strand Theatre is down the street.

The KAT Tower - est. 1922
Shreveport Regional Arts Council's Historic "KAT" (named after our gracious donors, the Kallenberg Family) TOWER is a brick Fire Station Hose Tower (our office buildings- once the downtown Central Fire Station- are also on the property)- and one of the first US Sky Scrapers. The Tower was once converted into an apartment for visiting Artists. We are now delighted to be able to share it with YOU!
The Look
It's Contemporary and Industrial - keeping the fire-engine-red and fire station feel - A truly UNIQUE experience! Visiting Guests and locals alike find themselves enchanted by our exciting and eclectic space.
The Tower
Each floor of the Historic Hose Tower is totally unique; every level is a different room in “your house!”
Level 1 - Lobby
Here you’ll find space to mingle or hang your coat- and includes a 1/2 bath. The security system panel, cleaning supplies, and all Tower info is here, too.
Level 2 - Living Room
Up a flight of stairs (way easier without full 1920's fire gear) to our Newly Renovated Living Space. As of January 2021, our living space features a large television, plush shag carpet, f convertible chaise lounge/“full” sofa bed, and a massage recliner to help you relax!
Level 3- Kitchen/Dining
Next flight up is the Dining Room and fully-stocked Kitchenette. We keep the shelves stocked with tons of snacks and the Euro-sized refrigerator is always stocked with sodas, water, and some adult beverages. We don't have an oven, but with the 2-burner stove, toaster oven, microwave, toaster, and cooking essentials we provide- you’ll be able to make almost any meal you can imagine! Other options include the wonderful restaurants located in Downtown Shreveport- mere blocks away.
Level 4- Bath Area
Up another small flight of stairs to the roomy Bathroom level. The wet room shower, naturally lit through fogged glass, comes with a raindrop shower head and hand-shower attachment, fully stocked with bath amenities and towels. The stocked vanity and sink are right outside, along with a glass top desk for getting ready.
Level 5- Bedroom
The top level of the KAT Tower hosts the Queen-sized platform bed with TV, large windows, and storage underneath where you'll find extra linens and pillows.
Level 6 - Roof Patio
While in the bedroom - look up!- you will find the Rooftop access ladder. There’s an “attic-door” ceiling hatch that opens to reveal a step ladder. A short climb up will find you in an exciting and private oasis with a 360 view of downtown, including beautiful art installations, and a birds-eye-view of the newly complete Caddo Common Park.
Office Resource Center
You are welcome to utilize our Business Center (Computers, Printer, Copy, Scan, etc.) anytime during normal business hours- located in our Shreveport Regional Arts Council's Central Artstation Lobby- only a few steps away.

If you need emergency laundry, we can help on-site. The KAT Tower is your private space- we want you to feel at home!
A Note
We support our local tourism economy by paying the Hotel/Motel tax rate! Our $20 cleaning fee allows us, as a non-profit, to cover the cost.
Pet Lovers (us too!)
We gladly host your pets! Just give us a heads-up and we can send you a special offer including the $30 one-time pet fee. This helps us cover all necessary cleaning and sanitation. We want to make sure any future guests with allergies have a great experience, too!
