Interaction with Guests
I am always available by phone and email to answer all your queries! We have a lovely property manager who will let you into the flat and we may meet too, if we happen to be in town at the same time.
Ixtapa is a lovely beach resort popular with Mexicans, Canadians and Americans. Although there are many high end fashionable places, a lot of shops and restaurants are also reasonably priced. We are 1 kilometer from the hotel area and 500 meters from Ixtapa´s commercial space - with restaurants, bars, shops, a supermarket and services (banks, hairdresser, etc). For a more elegant experience, head over a few kilometers to "La Marina" yacht club. If you have children you can spend a day at "la isla" a tiny island with great food and very small (or non-existent) waves.
Ixtapa offers parachute rides, deep sea fishing, banana boat rides and much more!
Things to do with children
It’s a short taxi (or car) ride to Playa Linda and then a five-minute boat ride to Isla Ixtapa. The island’s beaches are more protected than the main beach in Ixtapa, so the waves aren’t as crazy and the snorkeling is good when it’s calm. You can walk between the beaches and take shelter at one of many restaurants for cervezas and snacks.
There’s a crocodile farm at Playa Linda where you can spot crocs sunning or swimming, and see iguanas and tropical birds. There are also crocodiles at the south end of Ixtapa beach where the river empties into the ocean.
There are parasail guys spaced regularly along the beach
4.The Ixtapa beach
Public beach about 1 mile from the flat. Parking available. You can take your own tent or rent sombrillas and chairs, etc at the beach. Get there early in peak season to get a good spot!
5.Zihuatanejo – beaches & evening trip
Zihuatanejo was once a sleepy fishing village, but I think its starring role in The Shawshank Redemption — as the place Andy Dufresne ran off to after he escaped the prison — helped turn it into an uber-trendy little town, complete with tony shops and taquerias. It’s definitely worth a visit. Located on a lovely bay, the waves are quite gentle. And the souvenir shopping is great, too.
The best beaches to visit are Playa La Ropa and Playa Linda
A great restaurant (without the kids!) is in the amazing hotel “La Casa que Canta”
(website hidden) Golf
About half a mile from the flat is Plaza Ixtapa. It has shops, restaurants, ice cream places, a cinema and mini golf!
7.Swim with dolphins
(website hidden). Meet the dolphins through six interactive programmes, from 45min swims (US$124/M$1610) to 20min encounters (US$82/M$1065). There are packages for families and a special programme for kids 3–7 years of age.
8.Theme and water parks
Mundo Mágico Acuaparque
(website hidden). Every kid loves a water park and though this is a small one, it delivers with fun slides and pools (entry M$100). Tues–Sun 10am–5pm.
Parque Aventura Ixtapa
(website hidden). Rope ladders, Himalayan rope bridges and eleven zip lines (some 250m long and 30m high; US$45/M$585) provide the thrills at this popular theme park, though it’s fairly tame by international zip standards. Daily 8.30am–6.30pm.
Taxis are cheap and plentiful. Buses are available to Zihuatanejo and some main attractions.
Ixtapa is a small place and much is walking distance, too.
Other Things to Note
The neighbour one floor down has about 5 cats!
The flat does not have an elevator or air conditioning (but with the fans you should be fine - we always are!)
Please leave the home as you found it. No illegal activity, parties or smoking.
