Great communication
100% of recent guests rated Lana 5-star in communication.
A doorway to wilderness trails, mountain streams, peaceful meadows, the Shenandoah River, and the "still point" within. Our space is perfect for mountain getaways, quiet retreats, nature study, exploration, family renewal, & group engagement on 35 acres bordering a 1400 acre wilderness preserve with 23 miles of marked hiking trails, and intersection with the Appalachian Trail. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), mid-sized groups, and doggie friends.

The space
A solid, comfy, rustic log cabin in the woods with a few modern amenities, like satellite internet and indoor plumbing. It is not a luxury home or a full-service resort. Folks who love hiking, camping, nature in all her glory, and don’t mind the occasional critter, insect, or cranky water pump will feel right at home on our deck overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, tucked in with a good book in our separate Library Cottage, or doing yoga on our pond's floating dock.

COVID19 precautions: We are cleaning this space thoroughly and allowing two nights between rentals. After each guest, we disinfect all heavily touched areas including doorknobs, light switches, faucets, countertops, tables, countertops, bathrooms, lamp switches, and thermostat; sweeping and mopping all floors; washing all sheets and towels used by guests; and we wash any used dishes on high heat sanitizing steam mode. We have also left a box of Clorox wipes for guests to use.

Accommodations include:

First floor bedroom: Sleeps 3 with 3 twins (or 1 twin and a king, as 2 twins can be made into a king)
2nd floor Master bedroom: Sleeps 2 with queen
2nd floor Small bedroom: Sleeps 2 with two twins
2 baths
Additional sleeping arrangements can include:
2 foam fold-out beds for children and our outbuilding, the
"Library Cottage": This separate outbuilding contains a large library of spiritual and art books, a picture window facing the woods, and a futon sofabed sleeping 1 or 2. The space can be musty from old book mold, but a fan can clear the air somewhat. Outdoorsy book-lovers find this space cozy, though primitive. The adjacent closet has a composting toilet/gravity sink half-bath.

The cabin has a large covered deck overlooking the Shenandoah River Valley
Outdoor fire pits are available; you must collect your own wood
If you feel like pitching a tent there is plenty of camping space
We have wifi with satellite-dish internet connection (Note: It can be a bit fussy when the weather is bad)

Kitchen has electric stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, and everything needed for food prep and serving.
