The space

Druí cottage is described as rustic but a very comfortable home from home space. It is warm and quiet making it ideal for weary travelers or those who need a place to write or study and other projects.
The layout is open plan with a loft space bedroom; please take note of the rustic but securely fixed wooden ladder as seen in the photos. There is also a single bed in main room and extra pull out beds if needed.
The bathroom has shower, toilet, hand basin with soap, shower gel and towels provided. Please note that the shower is is not a power shower and is suitable only for a quick shower.
The kitchen is off the main room with spring water on tap, omplimentary tea, coffee, oil, the usual condiments, if anything is missing just ask. Organic seasonal vegetables can be bought on a stall just across the road, it works on trust and you just put the money in the box. If you are arriving late in the day with no time for a grocery shop, you can email me a list of items and I will be happy to pick up what you need.
The cottage is a welcome home after a days adventure, rekax by the wood burning stove, cook a meal of your choice or grab a take away in Tulla town or head up to Feakle village for a Guinness stew, fresh Seafood, Veggie option and sample the local pale ale.
Washing machine and dryer is available but not included in the price, again it is run on trust, you just put the money in the box by machines.
I live beside the cottage and work from home designing and making landscape inspired knit. I'm available for advice and while I respect your space, you also have the comfort of knowing that you are not totally alone on this beautiful and peaceful hillside.

During the low season this cottage is available long term for an agreed price. Do contact me for further information.
A double room is also available in my house for extra people in your party.

Guest access

Guests have access to the garden and walks in the nearby East Clare way. You can also Check In any time, access to the cottage is flexible because either you will be greeted by myself or friend or given information on self Check In

Interaction with guests

I have traveled extensively so naturally I enjoy interacting with people but I also respect their privacy, coming into your space only when invited. On winter days when you are out exploring I will light the stove for a warm return but only when I am home and available. Loan travelers have the comfort of knowing that they are not entirely alone, on this peaceful hillside and when I'm away my friend and neighbour is available to help you out if needed.
When possible I enjoy spending a day out with guests or share an evening meal but mostly it is your holiday and adventure, take the day and weather as you find it!

The cottage is in a very scenic central location. There are farms and homes close by but it is still private. Bring a Garmin/GPS to assist in your travels in Ireland. It was quiet and relaxing at the cottage, very much enjoyed it. It is located in an area where you can easily make day trips to several different cities or historic places. Pepper's Bar is very close to the cottage, great food and awesome music.

Response from Stephanie:
Happy to hear you both had a safe trip home, a great time in Ireland and after so many scenic trips, a relaxing evening at the cottage. Patrick was a wizard with the stove and yes I would love one of his beautiful handcrafted tippers, it will be displayed with pride on the dresser for all to see and if I ever feel like having a bash at Peppers, I will take it along! Thank you both..... Stephanie

This cottage was so charming! My daughter and I stayed a week and it was amazing to have such a cozy place to come back to each evening after a long day of sightseeing. Stephanie was such a welcoming hostess. We arrived on a very early flight and she allowed us to check-in early, helped us get the wood stove going, and was always available for questions, concerns, and tidbits of information or direction. The scenery is so definitive of Ireland. Green, lush, (quite often wet!), and quaint. There is even a small farmer's stand across the lane where we could purchase fresh farm eggs. All in all, what a fabulous place to stay, what a wonderful hostess, and what a perfect introduction to Ireland!

Response from Stephanie:
It was a real pleasure to host you and Cassie at the cottage, you certainly did a lot in a week and I too hope that you will return next year, maybe for a longer stay. A longer stay allows a rest between trips on the small Irish roads but yes you had a good introduction to Ireland and I look forward to welcoming you home sometime.
