The space

The cottage is described as rustic but very comfortable. It is warm and quiet making it ideal for rest, writing, study and many other projects.
It is open plan with a loft space bedroom; please take note of the rustic but securely fixed wooden ladder as seen in the photos. There is also a single bed in main room and extra pull out beds if needed. I also have a double room sometimes available in my house next door.
The bathroom is a separate room with shower, toilet, hand basin with towels provided. Please note that the shower is is not a power shower.
The kitchen with spring water on tap is in the main room. Complimentary tea, coffee, oil, the usual condiments, if anything is missing just ask. Organic seasonal vegetables can be bought on a stall just across the road, it works on trust and you just put the money in the box. If you are arriving late in the day with no time for a grocery shop, you can email me a list of items and I will be happy to pick up what you need.
Come home after a days adventure to a relaxing quiet space with a warm fire from a solid fuel wood burner, home cook your meal, grab a take away in Tulla town or head up to Feakle town for a Guinness stew or fresh fish dinner.
Washing machine and dryer is available on request but not included in the price, again you just put the money in the box by machines.
I live beside the cottage where I'm available for help and advice and while I respect your space, you also have the comfort of knowing that you are not totally alone on this beautiful and peaceful hillside. My work includes designing and handcrafting landscape inspired shawls and other accessories which guests have a 15% discount.

During the low season this cottage is available long term for an agreed price. Do contact me for more information.

Guest access

Guests have access to the garden, walks in the nearby area and on request my Studio. There is also a double room available in my home which is especially good as an overflow for when more than 3 friends or family wish to book the cottage. www.airbnb.ie/322922

Interaction with guests

I have traveled extensively from a young age so naturally I enjoy meeting and interacting with people but I also respect their privacy, coming into your space only when invited or to light the fire if weather is cold. It's so nice to come home to a welcome fire after adventurous winter days, this service is only available when I'm at home myself. The new stove is simple to use and those who have not much experience do learn quickly. Loan travelers have the comfort of knowing that they are not entirely alone, on this peaceful hillside and when I'm away my friend and neighbour is available to help you out if needed.
When available I enjoy spending a day out with guests or share an evening meal but mostly it is your holiday to take the day and weather as you find it!

The neighborhood

I love this calm artistic and farming neighborhood, the neighbors, along with the clean air, fresh spring water, nature, space, small roads and country walks.
We also now have the local farm shop, an honesty shop just across the road, where you can buy seasonal organic veg and eggs from happy free range chickens!

Getting around

Car hire or your own car is strongly recommended because of a limited public transport in Irish rural areas. however, the community bus can be good for long term guests. There is also a local taxi if necessary.

Other things to note

If you are arriving late in the day with no time for a grocery shop, you can email me a list of items in advance and I will be happy to pick up what is required
A car is essential as public transport is very limited.
In order to keep costs low, the washer/dryer is a facility which is not included in the price of your stay but for those who wish to use it there is a donation box.

This cozy little cottage is just perfect. Roomie, well equipped and in such a beautiful location. Plan on short showers but also expect to be comfortable during your stay. Stephanie, the hostess, is wonderful. Kind, helpful, and personable. We loved our time spent here!

Response from Stephanie:
It was necessary for me to cancel this Instant booking within hours of it being booked because a longer stay came in at the same time from another source. I hope that I get to meet Katia another time.....

If you are looking for a secluded bolthole to write (or in my case edit) your novel, then this is the place! I cocooned myself for four days and three nights in this lovely cottage, warmed by the stove and plentiful supply of logs, safe and secure in the knowledge that Stephanie, my welcoming host, was next door. Perfect.

I had a really nice time staying at Stephanie's cottage. I was working in the area for a couple of days and it nice to come back to a fire lit for us, the place was really warm and cosy i slept very well. Stephanie also left scones and tea and coffee for is also really reasonably priced. Overall i was really satisfied and would highly recommend it to anybody.

If you are looking for a traditional Irish cottage in the country, this is it. So cozy with the wood burning stove, lots of blankets, and everything you need in the kitchen. Stephanie even provides some wonderful CDs and a stereo for relaxing nights by the fire. I can honestly say this cottage is probably my favorite AirBnB I've ever stayed in, and the company of her cats was the icing on the cake!

A born wanderer from Dublin I settled in Clare to raise my children and immerse myself in rural life and textiles. I’ve enjoyed some world travel and today I love to wander from France to Ireland and back again, walking hills and coastal paths gathering inspiration for my work and enjoying locally produced organic food, and a good read by the fire at night. I also very much enjoy welcoming people to both my homes and offering help or advice on places to visit, allowing you your space as I appreciate mine.
