**If this Pod is booked for the dates you're seeking, please note we have THREE other Pods to check out! ** Welcome to Wedal Woods, a small lodging business hosting four comfortable Pods near the shores of Lake Superior, close to the amenities offered by the towns of Washburn and Ashland. We love our wooded property and want to share it with you! We aim to offer guests a unique lodging experience that is comfortable and easily accessible, blending a taste of nature with some creature comforts.
The space
Wedal Woods is located on Wedal Road in Washburn Wisconsin, on 35 acres of wooded private property. We’re 8 miles from Ashland, 3 miles from Washburn, and 15 miles from Bayfield. Our neighbors on Wedal Road live nearby and share our appreciation of the benefits of acreage and quieter aspects of rural life.
Guest access
There is a “Wedal Woods” sign at the road, at the entrance to a drive-through loop. Shortly after entering off the road, there is a welcome board with a map of the grounds and other posted information. Each Pod is located off the drive through loop, and a signpost with the Pod’s name is indicated at its access - with room to park a standard passenger vehicle as you pull up behind it (each Pod faces into the woods). There is a keypad on each Pod’s door handle, which will be programmed with a code for guest entry.
Other things to note
Please note there are no showers onsite, but options are available at nearby campgrounds and public beaches. When conditions permit and fire danger is low, you can also enjoy the community fire pit and meet other guests! Enjoy sitting on the deck of a Pod, listening to the wind in the trees, gazing up at the stars…you may even hear our resident wildlife nearby, including owls and coyotes, and of course the symphony of birds in the morning.
Wedal Woods is situated on private property, and all hiking and access to the features of the property are undertaken at guests' own risk – as they would in any other recreational area in the State of Wisconsin. Neither Wedal Woods nor any of its members nor agents are responsible for any liability associated with staying on the property, regardless of whether such liability is incurred by a guest or any of such guest’s invitees to the property. Each guest understands that the property includes varied – uneven and potentially slippery – terrain and is frequented by wildlife.

Meet your host
My work: Wedal Woods!
Fun fact: Used to jump out of planes for fun!
I used to be an art professor, a beekeeper, a skydiver, and a foster home for death row dogs. Now I run a small lodging business on a property I adore and am learning to ride a motorcycle! Wedal Woods has origins in my years of backcountry camping, and I've loved the Pods since I first encountered them. I hope guests can slow down, unplug a bit, and enjoy the restorative potential of the woods I'm lucky enough to enjoy every day.
