This bungalow style studio is located in lush green landscaped surrounds in authentic Ubudian rice field neighbourhood. Please note the photos listed have been taken and verified by airbnb.
The studio is located on the sought after Penestan area, only a 5 minute ride from the hustle & bustle of down town Ubud. There are around a dozen charming little healthy food restaurants (Indonesian, Japanese, Vegetarian Organic/Raw, Indian, bakeries) within a few blocks from here.
This studio has one huge bedroom with separate kitchen, bathroom and 3 relaxation areas. There are 5 one bedroom houses in the private complex available for rental - all with their unique design and décor. And all share the newly built pool, gardens (full of coconut and mango trees) and outdoor relaxation areas, including a lovely, newly built pool. All 5 studio in the complex have 1 large bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and a balcony relaxation area. One of the houses also caters for a child with an additional single bed.
Pakir, a local born and bred Ubudian is the site manager and owner of the complex. He can connect you with healers, yoga, scooter hire, local attractions and tours, all the best the restaurants or places to drink - or just simply his warm and quirky energy. Everybody loves Pakir - literally everybody. I am on site from time to time - however I usually live 2 hours south by the beach in The Bukit. Most of the 'Other reviews' you see below are for the beach property where I live:
Please note. March, April, May, June, July, August, September & October are extremely busy months in Ubud. For this reason we are taking preference to bookings of 7 nights or more. But we may be able to make the odd exception if we can squeeze you in.

If you looking for the property most the reviews are written about where I live; my nature reserve in the south of Bali by the ocean, the link is here:
Green Tara is a home away from home. What I found within the walls was a tranquil oasis amongst what can sometimes be described as a hectic Bali. Raquel is somewhat of a mother providing a not only a clean place to stay but also an open ear for all manner of conversations. She is also a great source of wealth if you want to get the low down on all the best local places to visit - massages, beaches, food and day trips. Tara is a beautiful work in progress of what can be achieved when someone wants to try and make a meaningful existence to the future of this planet and the impact we all have on the environment. The gardens might not be finished but you can see the potential in what Raquel and her team are trying to achieve. I highly recommend taking the time to chat to Raquel and Tommy and hear about their plans for the place.
If your fortunate enough you'll be there on a day that Raquel teachers the local kids English classes.
The closest beach was a short scooter ride through the local area and what lay at the end of that ride was a jaw dropping beach that can only be envisioned in screen savers that make you dribble over your keypad.
I stayed at green tara for 6 days by myself and had great experience. Raquel was a fantastic host. She had great communication before I arrived to Indonesia and was able to answer all my questions. She arranged someone to pick me up at the airport and a driver to take me around the island the other days. Her place is very nice and relaxing! It was very clean and the staff was very sweet and helpful! The first day she showed me around the area and showed me a good place to eat and where the nearest Internet cafe was! I would definitely recommend green tara! Raquel is a great host! Thank you again!
Wether you need to wonder at the stars, watch the sunrise at the beach, go party with the friends you'll make here, learn surfing or find the light within yourself, you will most certainly find the structure and support for this at Green Tara.
This place is clean.
The bed are comfortable for sleep and cuddling.
You have fast access to quiet or crowded beach.
The food accross the street is cheaper than a "baguette" in Paris and definitely good and tasty.
I have spend 2 month of emotionnal and spiritual awakening at Green (website hidden) Tara provided me the space to find back and experience my true self, with love and wonder.
My experience here changed me forever.
I invite each of those who reach this page and this post to follow their heart... And may it leads you here.
"Close your eyes. Fall in love. Stay here."
I'm really happy that I ended up staying in Green Tara for the whole month that I spent in Bali. Being there was just really comfortable and relaxed and I felt like home. The room was clean and the bed big and comfortable, and the common areas were good for my general chilling and hanging out, reading and doing exercise. There were enough bathrooms and I especially liked the one with an open roof and having showers under the sun/stars. The kitchen had everything essential for cooking, and the blender and the coffee grinder & cafetiere made me especially happy. Getting Aloe Vera straight from the garden was also great.
Raquel is a great person to live with, she's so warm, fun and compassionate. I'm really grateful to her for her compassion and advice when I had some difficult feelings come up during my (website hidden) Tara was a perfect place for me to recognize and deal with those feelings, the atmosphere was so understanding and peaceful so that I had a lot of time to think and reflect on myself. I only heard about Green Tara because a friend of mine randomly met Raquel on the beach, but I really feel like I was meant to stay there.
Stayed my last month in indo here and it was great. The host is lovley and is doing here permaculture thing and have here wierd rules that totaly make sence. For me it was an earthbounding experience and the best place i've found in bali. I didn't do anything else but surf during my stay and this place is close to all the best and most uncrowded waves in bukit. Cheap food across the street and a kitchen to cook your own stuff.
Bad: it is a fucking hassle to open the kompost "jar" everytime you have eaten a banana or pealed a peanut.. But hey, life's a beach right?
This was my second trip to Bali and I didn’t have to think twice where I wanted to spend my two months again. This time I stayed in the villa, a spacious, beautiful room with really comfy bed and a nice extra area in the back where I could do yoga and store my mountains of books. There is no internet but buying a 3g is both cheap and way better connection anyway, so that didn’t bother me. As a Uni student who had to use the internet ALOT there was a really friendly internet café 2 minutes away ( on the scooter) with propably the fastest internet you’ll find in Bali. Again! I can’t stress this enough but you do have to have a scooter ( or a car) if you want to live here. The next beach is very close but its pretty far if you wanna walk it. This is not the beachfront property ( but Raquel does have a beachfront property too, be sure to book the right place!) so you do have to be comfortable with scootering if you want to live here. Raquel gave me a course in scooter lessons the first time I came to Bali. Take that package if you don't know how to ride, she is an excellent teacher with a 100% success rate.
The place is VERY clean, with friendly Ketut coming by everyday to clean and make your bed. I LOVE how close to the nature the place is and the atmhosphere is (website hidden) eco Tara attracts so many special people and it was lovely to meet all of them. Oh and the organic permaculture farm is amazing - Tomy and raquel let me pick spinach, rocket, basil, tomatoes, chilli, and carrots to cook! Yum! And Aloe vera is growing so I could pick that fresh when I had sunburn. And there are a whole bunch of Balinese traditional medicine plants growing which Tomy will tell you all about if you ask him. The swings in the garden are so nice and also the little chill out area in the front where people chat, work , watch TV or chill. The hammock is a gorgeous piece of god’s creation but once I broke it but Tomy fixed it right away. That’s another great thing about this place, if there is anything that has to be fixed or done or helped with then Tomy and Raquel will do their best to sort it out. So in conclution, the place is very accurate to its description, clean, the hosts are witty and helpful, Warung across the street is tasty and the location PERFECT, as its isolated enough to soak in the REAL Bali charm but close enough to surf the best waves and eat the best food! I cant WAIT to stay there again for my second year of Uni. Ten stars!
I had a great time at the permaculture farm.
Raquel is so nice and generous. She showed me around, arranged a scooter rental for me and even taught me how to ride it (very practical and cheap if you think about traveling a little bit in the Bukit peninsula or simply go to one of the beautiful beaches nearby).
The room was very nice and clean and all of the people working or staying at the farm were very kind and respectful. It was a pleasure to share time and space with (website hidden) Tara a place where you want to go back :).
This is my second time staying at Green Tara, but not my last time! This permaculture farm is peaceful and quiet, lovely and makes me feel like home.
Everything about the property is beautiful, the rooms, the garden, the chilling area, the local restaurant across the street and the whole location itself. The location is good, quiet and local.
The cleanliness is taken care by Ketut who cleans your room and the property everyday, except on sundays. Tom and Raquel are always willing to help if there is something you have to ask about and longterm guests are also very helpful. Manta the private driver will drive you wherever you want to go or you could rent a scooter if you are only exploring the nearby area, well you must rent a scooter anyway if you ask me :)
If you are looking for a peaceful and nice place to stay near the beautiful beaches of Uluwatu, Green Eco Tara is the place to be.
Where to start?! Great place to stay if your looking for some long term cheap accom. Super friendly host and room mates make settling in to local scene a breeze. Amazing restaurant literally 5 metres away, you can actually just yell out your order and they will deliver it! Maybe if you are lucky Raquel will tell you about the secret items not included on the menu...
As for location, look no further. Situated in the centre of the Bukit gives you access to amazing beaches on both coasts and some lesser known ones if you are the adventurous type. All necessary comforts are close by like internet, super market and sushi. Also if you get a local SIM card (Sim Pati) reception is really good.
Basic rooms are comfortable with a bunch of different bathrooms to choose from. You can go for the authentic Balinese squatter or the good old European throne! Great staff ensure facilities are always clean and even make your bed for you on a daily basis!
If your looking for a chilled crew to hang with and get a bit of local knowledge, Raquel will hook you up because she is the BOSS of the Bukit!
Great place, good times, bloody bagus!
My stay at Green Tara began by attending an event run by Raquel at the farm for some local artists to get there work up on a wall at the property. It was an amazing event and the night was the perfect introduction to see the passion behind the project and to get to know the community. I was planning on staying for just one night…but after being immersed in it all for only 24 hours, I completely fell in love with everything this whole concept was about. And so I ended up there for 2 months!
I don't have enough words in the English language to describe the value of having stayed in this incredible place. It is difficult to express something to be read, which can only really be felt to be understood. I had the most richly engaging interactions every single day, with guests, friends of Green Tara, village locals and tourists alike. What I learnt there I will carry with me for the rest of my life, from the environment, permaculture, Bahasa Indonesia, motorbike riding, eco-tourism, surfing, the culture of Bali… and most of all about myself.
I truly feel that Raquel, Tommy, Ketut, Ika, Made and Kadek are some of the most genuine and kind hearted human beings I have ever met. And that is the thing you get when you stay here. It is human, it is connection, it is joy, it is family and above all else it is fun. All of the guests I met will be in my heart forever and I feel that I have formed some valuable and lifelong friendships.
If you are looking to escape on a journey of truth; to see the island of Bali in all of its many facets and to delve into the culture in an authentic and mindful way. I couldn't recommend a stay at Green Tara more highly. Not to mention that the local beaches are the absolute best on the island, the beauty of The Bukit is unparalleled for somewhere so liveable and with such an awesome vibe throughout the whole area. The things you will come away with from this magical pocket of peace, away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, will not only stay with you forever in the memories created but in the practical application in your daily life upon coming home.
I truly look forward to going back to Bali, to see my beautiful friend Raquel, and to the home away from home that I have found in this amazing place. With all the love and thank you's in the whole universe!! xxx
