About this listing
This bungalow style studio is located in lush green landscaped surrounds in authentic Ubudian rice field neighbourhood. Please note the photos listed have been taken and verified by airbnb.
The studio is located on the sought after Penestan area, only a 5 minute ride from the hustle & bustle of down town Ubud. There are around a dozen charming little healthy food restaurants (Indonesian, Japanese, Vegetarian Organic/Raw, Indian, bakeries) within a few blocks from here.
This studio has one huge bedroom with separate kitchen, bathroom and 3 relaxation areas. There are 5 one bedroom houses in the private complex available for rental - all with their unique design and décor. And all share the newly built pool, gardens (full of coconut and mango trees) and outdoor relaxation areas, including a lovely, newly built pool. All 5 studio in the complex have 1 large bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and a balcony relaxation area. One of the houses also caters for a child with an additional single bed.
Pakir, a local born and bred Ubudian is the site manager and owner of the complex. He can connect you with healers, yoga, scooter hire, local attractions and tours, all the best the restaurants or places to drink - or just simply his warm and quirky energy. Everybody loves Pakir - literally everybody. I am on site from time to time - however I usually live 2 hours south by the beach in The Bukit. Most of the 'Other reviews' you see below are for the beach property where I live:
Please note. March, April, May, June, July, August, September & October are extremely busy months in Ubud. For this reason we are taking preference to bookings of 7 nights or more. But we may be able to make the odd exception if we can squeeze you in.
US $40 per night - 6 nights or less (+cleaning & air bnb fees)
US $35 per night - 7 nights or more (+cleaning & air bnb fees)
US $600 per month - (+cleaning & air bnb fees)
A weekly cleaning fee of US $25 applies to every booking.
Smoking outside only.
Pakir lives in one of the houses on site, and although he is approachable, he has a private life too and is not available 24 hours. So it is a condition of booking that all guests book a private transfer with either myself or Pakir prior to their arrival. Our drivers know Pakir and his location well, and will contact him to ensure he is available for a smooth check in.
Very big room with kitchenette was great. However, as it was located right across the entrance and next to the main path leading to the others, it lacked privacy. The internet was very weak.
The pool area was also great, especially after a full day of sightseeing.
Communications with Tara were fast and efficient, but seemed lacking between her and Pakir, the actual host. I waited a long time at the rendezvous point, a bar where one of the employees went to get him. He didn't know exactly what time I was arriving, how long I was staying and even whether I had paid...
All in all, a mixed experience. Might be better suited for a couple or young family where the costs are justified by the kitchen and the space...
What a wonderful journey, adventure, sooo many memories, beautiful stories, wonderful PEOPLE.
This relaxing sacred haven, hidden away amongst rice paddies is comfortably away from the mainstream hustle and bustle but conveniently a short scooter ride away, and in walking distance to close by restaurants, cafes, juice bars and the most amazing raw vegan cafe Alchemy, which seemed to be my morning stop everday for the worlds most amazing green smoothie.
But, above and beyond all of these superb luxuries not to mention the stunning tranquil pool that always seemed to feel like I was the only one swimming in it, which is another magical feature about this place.....the peace and solitude that it exudes...its also huge part for me is the people, the family feeling you are welcomed by when u arrive, Pakir who owns the property is the most sweetest, kind, heartful generous person, who will go out of his way to make you extremely safe, secure and provided for. I actually stayed here in this studio apartment for a month so you can imagine my time here felt like I was part of the family before I left, they welcomed me with open arms, along with Pakir becoming my own private Taxi, ( thank you Paki) until I felt comfortable enough to ride my own scooter.
Seriously this place is special and everyone should atleast come stay here if you are to visit Bali. Raquel who recieved all my email and request for this place could not have been more efficient, detailed, informative and spontaneously fun, as once I arrived we were soon to become great friends as she too like Pakir open her heart and soul to everyone who touches foot down on that property.
A true blue friendship and wonderfully magical treasure found in the enchanted garden of the Gods....Bali
Love and Blessings to these wonderful people,

About the Host, Raquel
Writer, nature loving, people ponderer. I live on an amazing eco property in Bali's far south with my Balinese family. We're creating a tropical permaculture farm here. These days I spend most of my spare time planting seeds - both literally and metaphorically - with my Balinese partner Tommy, who grew up in nearby Uluwatu. I bought a motorcycle and named her Phylis. She gets a lot of attention around The Bukit. And rightly so - she's pretty hot.
I have listed three properties on Air BnB.
1. The place where I live - Beachside Permaculture farm & villa
2. My friend Pakir's family compound of 5 self contained studios in Ubud.
3. My Balinese family's beach shack - a guest house directly on the beach.
