The Space

Our home is a functioning studio/gallery and is full of beautiful paintings. The Art Studio sleep-out nestled under the Mountain Otanewainuku is separate from the main house and comfortably sleeps up to 4 in a double bed and a double sofa bed. It also has a table and chairs, small fridge, toaster and kettle. (We also have a twin room inside the house that sleeps two on two single beds - see other listing.) You are welcome to use the kitchen in the main house. Please make use of our lovely deck and barbecue area.
Quiet rural/native bush. Beautiful walks in kiwi populated native bush. Our house sits under the Mountain Otanewainuku, the walk up the mountain gives spectacular panoramic views of the Bay of Plenty.
We have two stubborn donkeys who help keep the grass down and two very friendly dogs and a shy cat.

Check In
  • I had 5 days to spend in NZ in between flights and I had planned on staying here for 2 nights but ended up staying much longer;)

A friendly and welcoming home you'll be glad to come back to at the end of your day trips.

Talulah and Keith are perfect hosts, dinner time is always a moment of sharing and fun.

Surrounding landscapes and artwork are beautiful;)

    Will be back! Thank you!

  • We really liked staying at Talulah's place. She made us feel comfortable and provided a lovely meal in the evening for a very reasonable price :) We also enjoyed to get to know some of her friends, the two donkeys and her lovely dog. It is great that guests can have a separate room, outside in the garden. Highly recommendable!

  • Talulah and Keith were wonderful hosts! Talulah made really great dinner and a lot of it! Their house is a good distance away from town though but they were very accommodating!

  • If you enjoy peace, tranquility and living up in the hill - the Art Studio is the place to be. All you have for companions are Talulah, Keith, 2 dogs, a cat and 2 donkeys. The guest house is situated next to a nature reserve, access is only via car but it is worth the journey up the rolling hills along Ooropi. It rained the last 2 days that I was there but what a sleep I had as I woke up to the rain beating on the roof and the view of the misty country side outside my window.

  • My stay at Talulah and Keith's was wonderful. They were willing to pick me up in Tauranga for a small fee that was definitely worth it to give me the opportunity to stay at their beautiful home. My stay was very comfortable and I especially enjoyed an early morning walk in the amazing native bush just behind their home.

  • Very nice and remote location. Talulah and her husband Keith made me feel very welcome in their home, they even invited me for dinner! (for a tiny fee)The house is filled with Talulah's art (which is amazing) and a very laid back atmosphere. I would definately recommend staying here, but only if you have your own transportation and don't mind (or even love) being off the beaten track a little. I would definately come back if in the area!

  • Talulah and her husband have a wonderful B&B, excellent service, and we especially appreciated that they anticipated we might need dinner since we got in late. What's not to like about an artist and a poet couple running a country B&B?
