Neighborhood highlights

Our home is situated right in the heart of the historic bustling and idyllic village of Tynemouth which boasts its own Priory Castle. Nestled in a quiet residential street with two off road parking spaces with ample street parking. A two-minute walk and you are in a vibrant high street with boutique bars, shops and a fine dining culture not to mention three blue flag awarded beaches within a five-minute walk one of which boasts magnificent views of Tynemouth Priory Castle and Riley’s Fish shack where you can sample freshly caught produce cooked over a charcoal clay oven. There is also a recently published restored Victorian park only a five-minute walk in the other direction from our front door alongside Tynemouth golf club.

On the award winning beaches there are activities such as boot camps, canoeing and cycle hire, not to mention a world class surfing culture. There are bike trails and walk ways for the less energetic. The coast to coast cycle race also passes nearby. We also have a locally famous indoor market every weekend in the Victorian Railway Station selling everything from paintings and pottery from local artists, furniture to books, bric-a-brac and street food.

Further up the Northumberland coast there are some of the best preserved castles in the world such as Alnwick and Bamburgh which have been the backdrop for many a movie. Northumberland has one of the largest National Parks. There is also Durham Cathedral, the Derwent and Tyne valley and Hadrian’s wall and the likes of Holy Island are all within easy reach.
