About this listing
Walk to the Sunset Junction from this large rebuilt craftsman house. Bedroom is on 2nd floor with a full size bed. French doors lead to a private balcony facing East. Lots of sunlight. Shared bathroom is a beautifully designed custom bathroom, with a very large shower next to a two person tub with jets. There is also is an additional powder room (1/2 bath) downstairs.
Large modern kitchen, great space to cook or just hang out in, with french doors that lead to another huge balcony/deck where you can, BBQ, or just relax and have a cocktail before heading out into Silver Lake, Hollywood, Downtown LA, Echo Park for the nightlife, the food, and the music!
Full access to Kitchen, Full bath, plus an additional half bathroom off the kitchen, Balcony off kitchen, and lounge/patio in the front of the house. I also stock the kitchen with coffee, tea, bagels, cereal, bagels/toast, almond and cow's milk, and sometimes I'll have hard boiled eggs in the refrigerator and/or fresh fruit on the kitchen island. The house has central heat/air conditioning and I set the thermostat between 70 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit (21-25 Celsius) depending on the weather.
Interaction with Guests
Depends on each situation. Sometimes we're all very social, and other times guests just want to relax and enjoy their privacy.
We are walking distance from the Sunset Junction that features such destinations as Cafe Intelligentsia, Stella, Bulan Vegan Thai, Cafe Flore, Nature Well, 4100 bar, the LA Eagle. Akbar, El Cid, Cliffs Edge. Every Saturday and Wednesday, there is the farmers market, also walking distance.
To get to my house:
25 minutes from LAX with light traffic.
50 minutes from LAX with heavy traffic.
There are also shuttles available (Prime Time and Supershuttle)
There is also the 'Fly Away Bus' that takes you to Union Station Downtown, then you can take Uber or Taxi to get to my house. (5-7 minutes).
In my neighborhood you can take the city bus anywhere. There is also a subway stop for the Red Line, less than a half a mile away that will take you to Hollywood and Universal Studios, or downtown LA, where you can transfer to other trains. You can download an app called 'GoMetro' for more information. I advise guests to use (website hidden) Maps and click on 'transit' to see what public transportation options are available.
Other Things to Note
If you have a car:
Street parking is available on the block behind my house an you can enter through the back gate. Sometimes a parking pass may be available and you'll be able to park on the block in front of the house.
Always read parking signs and rules when parking your car! Check for times allowed, if permit required, street sweeping, etc. Los Angles makes a lot of money from giving out parking tickets.
Pretty relaxed here.
Sometimes share a drink with the guests before heading out for a night on the town. Out of respect for other house guests, the kitchen is closed from 11pm till 8am to keep the noise to a minimum.
Smoking is allowed outside only. Thank you!
Beautiful silverlake house. The hosts are lovely genuine people. Bed very comfortable. Clean and tidy. Very much recommended.
The room at Chris was exactly what we wanted: a nice place to stay, where you can interact with your host but still have enough privacy. The room was very spacious and had a nice view. The bathroom had a fantastic walk-in shower (with again a beautiful view over the neighborhood). You could actually see the trees swaying in the wind while showering. Chris provided some good information about the neighborhood, like where to eat and what so see. Overall we would definitely recommend staying at Chris!
Chris is a great host with a beautiful home. The room is spacious, everything was clean. The place is in a nice neighborhood close to both a bus stop and a metro station with buses and trains running to pretty much everywhere. Absolutely no complaints, highly recommended.
Chris was easy to communicate with and prompt, very nice guy. Checking in was quick and easy. He gave us a parking pass to park on the street which made things super convenient. The room itself was spacious and clean. The bathroom was down the hall but was very nice and had a great shower. The location was excellent we were able to walk to lots of great spots but felt like a nice quiet neighborhood.
Great room in an amazing house! Private balcony gives you second story views of palm trees and houses in the distance which is quite relaxing. Between the balcony doors and the windows right next to the bed this room can be filled with light easily or you can use the black out curtains to sleep in. Stand-alone AC unit (not the typical window kind) that works amazing and can be set to whatever temperature you desire with a remote to operate from the bed.
The house is big and full of art and photographs yet has a cozy and warm feel. The front and back porches are great places to chill out and eat breakfast. Chris provides an array of juices, bagels, and spreads that are perfect to get you going. Plenty of fridge room to put leftovers or beer behind the juices. The main bathroom is a dream with plants growing around it and tile and glass outlining the main shower area. Chris has shampoos, conditioners, and sun screen in the bathroom drawers that are available to use including natural brands that are less abrasive and feed into the green/natural vibe.
Chris is a superb host that makes you feel welcome while giving you space and privacy. Zero issues with the Wifi and the download speed is more than fast enough to stream any videos or check in remotely for work and get a few things done before going out. Overall an A+ experience and I look forward to staying again in the future!

About the Host, Chris
40 something, video/graphics producer and editor.
I grew up in the New York suburbs and north east New England. I wound up living in New York City for a few years, and eventually moved to California about 22 years ago. I've been living in the Silver Lake and Los Feliz area ever since, and I run the BNB with my partner Frank.
I embrace the 'LA' lifestyle, in that I try to be easy going and flexible, and do take advantage of the local delights. (Mountains, deserts, and the Pacific Ocean.) When I'm traveling, sometimes I'm looking for a peaceful natural retreat, other times looking for a fun city that stays open late.
It's amazing how many interesting and really cool people I've met through airbnb.com and I'm very happy I can be a host and will continue to do so.
