Interaction with Guests
Depends on each situation. Sometimes we're all very social, and other times guests just want to relax and enjoy their privacy.
We are walking distance from the Sunset Junction that features such destinations as Cafe Intelligentsia, Stella, Bulan Vegan Thai, Cafe Flore, Nature Well, 4100 bar, the LA Eagle. Akbar, El Cid, Cliffs Edge. Every Saturday and Wednesday, there is the farmers market, also walking distance.
To get to my house:
25 minutes from LAX with light traffic.
50 minutes from LAX with heavy traffic.
There are also shuttles available (Prime Time and Supershuttle)
There is also the 'Fly Away Bus' that takes you to Union Station Downtown, then you can take Uber or Taxi to get to my house. (5-7 minutes).
In my neighborhood you can take the city bus anywhere. There is also a subway stop for the Red Line, less than a half a mile away that will take you to Hollywood and Universal Studios, or downtown LA, where you can transfer to other trains. You can download an app called 'GoMetro' for more information.
Other Things to Note
If you have a car:
Street parking is available on the block behind my house an you can enter through the back gate. Sometimes a parking pass may be available and you'll be able to park on the block in front of the house.
Always read parking signs and rules when parking your car! Check for times allowed, if permit required, street sweeping, etc. Los Angles makes a lot of money from giving out parking tickets.
Pretty relaxed here.
Sometimes share a drink with the guests before heading out for a night on the town. Out of respect for other house guests, the kitchen is closed from 11pm till 8am to keep the noise to a minimum.
Smoking is allowed outside only. Thank you!
I had a wonderful time staying with Chris! The house was beautiful, the room was very large with a great desk (exactly what I needed), and all of the communal spaces were beautiful and welcoming. Although I live in L.A. I needed a staycation night for sanity, as well as place to crash for a night to make it easier for a deadline (at home I do not have enough space to work, and between that/how far away I live from my various jobs and classes I'm taking, sometimes AirBnB saves the day with helping me find a place to crash for an evening to have my own room and to be nearer to my committments), and Chris's house was the perfect place to do that.
It was a great blend of friendly conversation when we would see one another, and also having quiet time where I was able to be alone in the room I rented to do my work and get my deadline done. I love Silverlake, and this AirBnB definitely offers the best in terms of great hosts, a beautiful space, and being near everything by Sunset Junction. Chris is a wonderful host who makes sure you have everything you need, and it was really fun to get to talk when we did! Turns out we're from neighboring towns Back East (-: In any case, thank you, Chris! I would love to stay again again should I ever need to stay and hole up in a room to do work/be closer to work when I don't have the time to make my regular long commute (-:
This was an amazing place and true to its description. Chris was really helpful, considerate and willing to assist with all questions. The place is extremely clean and definitely recommend this to anyone.
I stayed at Chris' house for almost a month and I couldn't have picked a more perfect place than this amazing Airbnb place. My bedroom had its own private balcony with view over the palm trees and backyard, which was perfect to sit and relax in the evening with a book. It's much better in real life than the pictures, the room had everything you needed. The bathroom was huge and always clean, like the rest of the house. In the kitchen you have everything you need to start your day: coffee, bagels, cereal, oatmeal and juice. It was so convenient that you didn't have to think about that.
The neighbourhood is definitely one of my favourites, just around the corner are all kinds of nice coffe shops, bars, cafes and local boutiques , so there's always something to do or eat close by. I didn't rent a car the time I was there, and this is a perfect place for taking public transportation. There are busses just 5 min away taking you to the beach, west Hollywood or downtown. And a 15 min walk take you to Vermont/Santa Monica station where you can take the red line to Hollywood, universal studios or union station. This place is very well connected to the rest of the city. I would definitely recommend this place, and hopefully I'll be able to get back soon. I really loved being there, and Chris and his partner are open and easygoing people, and they will immediately make you feel at home.
Chris is a real gem - warm, generous and very accommodating. He took special care when I turned up to his place sick and then took on the role of doctor when I lost my voice!
The house itself is beautiful, the bathroom is large and clean, and Chris makes sure everything is taken care of, so there's nothing to think twice about. Location is fabulous - literally just a few mins walk from the heart of Silver Lake.
Very good vibes, a beautiful house and a warm, welcoming spirit. Thank you Chris.
Amazing neighborhood, so much better then a hotel for the night. Meet some really great guest staying there as well!
I've stayed at quite some Airbnb's and hotels, but my stay at Chris was extraordinary: full marks on all departments. Not only is Chris the most friendly and courteous host, also the house is very spacious, luxurious, tidy and clean. Moreover, the location (at the junction) is simply perfect.
The rooms with the balcony have a homey feel and Chris makes sure you'll feel right at home from the moment you enter the door. I will definitely come back here next time I'm in the area, thanks Chris!

About the Host, Chris
40 something, video/graphics producer and editor.
I grew up in the New York suburbs and north east New England. I wound up living in New York City for a few years, and eventually moved to California about 22 years ago. I've been living in the Silver Lake and Los Feliz area ever since, and I run the BNB with my partner Frank.
I embrace the 'LA' lifestyle, in that I try to be easy going and flexible, and do take advantage of the local delights. (Mountains, deserts, and the Pacific Ocean.) When I'm traveling, sometimes I'm looking for a peaceful natural retreat, other times looking for a fun city that stays open late.
It's amazing how many interesting and really cool people I've met through airbnb.com and I'm very happy I can be a host and will continue to do so.
