Interaction with Guests
Depends on each situation. Sometimes we're all very social, and other times guests just want to relax and enjoy their privacy.
We are walking distance from the Sunset Junction that features such destinations as Cafe Intelligentsia, Stella, Bulan Vegan Thai, Cafe Flore, Nature Well, 4100 bar, the LA Eagle. Akbar, El Cid, Cliffs Edge. Every Saturday and Wednesday, there is the farmers market, also walking distance.
To get to my house:
25 minutes from LAX with light traffic.
50 minutes from LAX with heavy traffic.
There are also shuttles available (Prime Time and Supershuttle)
There is also the 'Fly Away Bus' that takes you to Union Station Downtown, then you can take Uber or Taxi to get to my house. (5-7 minutes).
In my neighborhood you can take the city bus anywhere. There is also a subway stop for the Red Line, less than a half a mile away that will take you to Hollywood and Universal Studios, or downtown LA, where you can transfer to other trains. You can download an app called 'GoMetro' for more information.
Other Things to Note
If you have a car:
Street parking is available on the block behind my house an you can enter through the back gate. Sometimes a parking pass may be available and you'll be able to park on the block in front of the house.
Always read parking signs and rules when parking your car! Check for times allowed, if permit required, street sweeping, etc. Los Angles makes a lot of money from giving out parking tickets.
Pretty relaxed here.
Sometimes share a drink with the guests before heading out for a night on the town. Out of respect for other house guests, the kitchen is closed from 11pm till 8am to keep the noise to a minimum.
Smoking is allowed outside only. Thank you!
I've stayed at quite some Airbnb's and hotels, but my stay at Chris was extraordinary: full marks on all departments. Not only is Chris the most friendly and courteous host, also the house is very spacious, luxurious, tidy and clean. Moreover, the location (at the junction) is simply perfect.
The rooms with the balcony have a homey feel and Chris makes sure you'll feel right at home from the moment you enter the door. I will definitely come back here next time I'm in the area, thanks Chris!
Chris's place is great. Location-wise, it couldn't be better - you're about a minute's walk from the bars and restaurants of Sunset Junction, but it's also really quiet and calm. The house is spacious, with a well-stocked kitchen full of breakfast and a glorious terrace to eat it on in the sun. As a host, he's really amenable and friendly, and it's really easy to just come and go as you please. Silverlake was my favourite neighbourhood on my L.A. trip, and Chris's place is the perfect base for exploring it. Definitely hoping to stay there again.
Well, Chris' house is the best place I've stayed through Airbnb so far, and I use Airbnb quite a lot.
Chris' knows exactly what you will need, the room is really comfortable, in a corner, 1 big window and a small balcony...in the middle of palm trees. And the mattress is very very comfortable.
The kitchen is awesome, with big windows and a splendid terrace facing big trees. Also, Chris provides all the cereals you might want, milk and fresh organic juice for your breakfast.
Everything is very clean and the area is cool, bars and small restaurants.
It's because all this that I'm repeating in 2 days!
So nice I stayed there twice! Chris is an excellent host, very friendly and welcoming. The house is very nice. Both times I stayed with Chris, the rooms were clean and though there were other people staying in the house, it felt very private. I would be happy to stay there again next time I am in the area.
Definitely my best experience with Airbnb. The room was very nice and big. Chris was helpful, he gave me a lot of useful information. A fantastic breakfast. The location is superb.

About the Host, Chris
40 something, video/graphics producer and editor.
I grew up in the New York suburbs and north east New England. I wound up living in New York City for a few years, and eventually moved to California about 22 years ago. I've been living in the Silver Lake and Los Feliz area ever since, and I run the BNB with my partner Frank.
I embrace the 'LA' lifestyle, in that I try to be easy going and flexible, and do take advantage of the local delights. (Mountains, deserts, and the Pacific Ocean.) When I'm traveling, sometimes I'm looking for a peaceful natural retreat, other times looking for a fun city that stays open late.
It's amazing how many interesting and really cool people I've met through airbnb.com and I'm very happy I can be a host and will continue to do so.
