About this listing

Did you ever have a 25 m. long houseboat to yourselves? A great experience! My ship is comfortable, warm and cosy. I bet you'll feel right at home! Book and be the (temporary) captain!

The space

Living on a boat primitive? Surey NOT! Central heating, a woodstove, shower, kitchen, living room, bedroom and even a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher! And it gets even better: you'll have the whole ship to yourselves. Supermarket around the corner, nice restaurants at less than 2 mins. walk.
The feeling of actually living inside the belly of this 100-year old steel ship will be an unforgettable holiday-memory! When the weather is nice you can sunbathe on my wooden terrace next to the boat. Or sit in the grass under the big chestnut tree. Or even take a dive of the boat and swim in the canal!
I do, in summer… And my neighbors do...
The water is clean and fresh.
Enjoy...
:)
Park your car near my ship, it's free.
You'll be living on 10 walking minutes of the historic city centre, bus to the center/station stops on a 1 minute walk from my boat.
Lots of nice walks, beautiful parks, hundreds of restaurants, bars, beautiful museums... You'll see. Groningen will be worth your wile!

Guest access

There's one bedroom with a double bed and if you like a third person could sleep on the on the comfortable couch-bed in the living room. I'll provide extra bed linnen...:)

Interaction with guests

I won't be living in the boat whilst you're there, but I won't be far away. If you need help or have questions; just call!
If you are a nice relaxed guy/girl looking for a special and romantic place to stay; this is the place for you. You're more than welcome to enjoy the charms and the warmth of my sweet cosy ship.
BUT! If you are going to be fussy about small things, like the boat is making noises (yes ... it is! it's a floating thing on water! It sometimes bumps against the shore!) Or, like some people who visited my house; you want to spend your time crawling under the cupboards and the couch to check whether it is really really clean there; DON'T BOTHER! PLEASE BOOK A HOTEL FOR TWICE THE MONEY! It is a HOME, my home, your home if you like; not a HOTEL.
I really can't be bothered with complaints concerning one not completely spotless wineglass or a pillow that was a bit too soft... I do my best to give you a great place to stay, MY private home, and I really give an effort to deliver it as clean and comfy as possible! Clean sheets, towels, pots and pans, cutlery, the works! So if you are going to look for small things, maybe just to get a discount afterwards... please feel welcome to find another place..!

And last but not least... One more important thing... Concerning the toilet! :)

Don't throw anything in the toilet except toilet paper and the things you came there to get rid of..:) other stuff is fatal to the waste-water pump…!!!

Last house-rule: feel at home and have FUN! :)

It's a lovely place , created with fantasy. Each piece seems to tell a story. A cosy accommodation. Lydia is a wonderful host. Very friendly and supportive. Looking forward to the next stay on the boat

Lydia's houseboat exceeded all expectations. The hosts; Were welcoming. I was looked after when it came to check in, they were flexible with my timing. Communication was great. The houseboat its self; cosy, large, clean, warm and everything worked (had a great shower). Three of us (my friends and I) fit easily. All in all, highly recommend this AirBnB if your looking to add to your great Groningen experience.

I've always wanted to try living on a canal boat & thanks to Lydia I have. It was a thrill to stay on her characterful boat which is just a 15 minute walk from the centre of the brilliant city of Groningen.

The boat is well equipped and very comfortable. The bathroom is very clean and the shower works very well. Beds are comfortable and there were lots of blankets to keep warm with. Slightly out of town but the bus stop is only a couple of minutes away. There's a local Lidl just up the road too.

Lydia replied very quickly and described everything perfectly. During our stay, she was in contact with us several times to make sure that everything was fine. The boat itself was very cosy - we felt at home instantly. The boat itself was a bit further away from the city centre, but there is a bus stop nearby - so it is not a problem to reach the station or the city centre. We visited in December and we not sure whether the boat would be warm enough in the winter - but not a problem at all. Warm and cosy! We would recommend it!

A journey from a student couple here! We've stayed 4 days (3nights) in Lydia's Cute & Cosy Boat ! The decoration is very unique, don't be scared about the owl on the right side :D ! We can only thank Lydia to have such a place to rent :)! Close to the city, 15min away by foot (I walk slowly, it's more like 8 / 10min), 5min from the supermarket! Agreable & Heartwarming might be the best words I'd think of to describe our experience ! Thanks again to Lydia ! To potential futur clients of her: Why haven't you booked yet :p ? Florian & Camille
