I was a concierge at Mexicos top hotel for years - it was my job to know everything about customer service and Cancun :)
I love being in the hotel zone, in the center of the five star properties , it's a dream location
Public transit is excellent - we haven't had a car here for 16 years :)
Lots of free parking here
Please turn a/c off when you leave
Please keep doors and windows closed when a/c is on
Please do not remove white bath towels(do bring a beach towel if you require one)
Please do not leave dirty dishes for Berta, she will clean every few days but is it not her responsibility to clean a sink full of dishes :)
Please keep balcony door shut when you leave room (salt air destroys electronics)
The pool restaurant is not recommended and therefore not noted on my listing
I had an awesome time! The property was high quality and very clean.
Michelle was a great and accessible host. Every time I messaged she answered and trust me I messaged her several times. She took the time to go over some things with us when we first arrived, which we appreciated. Since I did a last minute booking there were some things that were not in place, such as bath towels and things to wash dishes with but she quickly rectified those things, like within 30 seconds, lol. The wifi router is inside of this until so we had no problems at all with the wifi. The air conditioner was nice and cold and appreciated after a day on the beach. One thing I would suggest:
* take the beach chairs that Michelle provides you down to the beach-she told us that the blue beach chairs were for our use but we had some conflicts on a couple of days because we were told we weren't suppose to use the chairs at all.
All in all we enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much Michelle for your patience and hospitality.
I very much enjoyed my stay at this wonderful condo. For future guests I would like to provide these tips:
-- Bring hair conditioner
-- Bring beach towels
-- Bring coffee/tea for breakfast
The last tip was because the host does not recommend the on-site restaurant, which we didn't try, so there's no place to have breakfast anywhere within walking distance (the best place for breakfast or lunch close by is Natura).
However, we really liked our food at Joe's 19.5 km restaurant, which has the best shrimp tacos we ever had, plus a mean margarita.
The bus is only 10 pesos and you do have to take it just about everywhere, because this location is far from the maddening crowd.
I would stay here again without a doubt! The room (and it is just one room- not a 2 bedroom or anything) is clean and comfortable, the view and balcony is spectacular... The beach here is not as crowded as the other beaches in Cancún, which is another positive.
Having a kitchen is a huge benefit because my son has food allergies and it's often best to cook for him- everyone will tell you the food in the hotel is not great and they are right. I only had to look at the food to know that!
The shuttle is so convenient at 10 pesos each ride... Be ready to make some treks on the shuttle- as it takes 20-40 minutes to get to the commercial centers- definitely 40 to get to any authentic restaurants and any place that the locals would hang!
I am into the "local experience" so i ended up making the long journey to the city center.
For the price of the room I rented (1802), it is very fair... I pray that Michelle doesn't begin raising the prices so that I can return again and again throughout the years!
Don't miss the small Mayan ruins called "el Rey" that are literally a 5 minute walk south from Solymar!
Overall, it was lovely, and I can't wait to return!
I had an amazing stay at this condo. The view to the beach is beautiful, and Michelle is always ready to help with anything you need. I would definitely stay here the next time I visit Cancun.
Had a great 6 day stay. The penthouse is fantastic. Views of the ocean are as depicted in the pictures. And the beach is THE BEST BEACH IN CANCUN. Hands down.
We wasted a lot of time driving around to Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, Playa Totuga, Isla Mujeres only to realize the BEST BEACH was 100 feet from our front door all along. It's like dating the love of your life in High School and dumping them in college thinking "There must be someone better out there for me" only to realize, a decade later, your high school girl/guy was actually THE ONE and you wasted 10 years dating a string of lesser people.
The beach in front of this penthouse is THE ONE.
Some days the ocean was rough and some days calm. But even on rough ocean days IT WAS FUN! Jumping in the waves, body surfing. And If you swim out 50 feet or so you can avoid the waves. And the water is WARM and crystal clear and turquoise and beautiful!!! Even as the sun goes down. It's amazingly warm. You'll never want to get out the water once you get in.
Some great penthouse perks include... 2 beach towels... beach umbrella and two beach chairs. (We were the envy of beach goers when we set up the umbrella and chairs. One tourist walked up to us and asked, "Where did you rent that umbrella? I want to rent one." And I replied, "It came with our room." Forlorn and crestfallen, the man walked away muttering to himself, "Why didn't our room come with a beach umbrella and chairs?"
Also loved the blender in the kitchen, Made and enjoyed hundreds of smoothies.
A cleaning lady came on day 3 and cleaned up, changed bed linens and gave us fresh towels. Nice touch.
FYI... The hotel zone is THE BEST place to stay in Cancun. Hundreds of shops and restaurants are just a few miles (Kilometers) away and there are 3 really fantastic shopping malls to peruse. I highly recommend renting a car. We rented a car for 6 days and paid $120. Which is nothing compared to say, if you want to take a bus to Tulum to see the Ruins? It's $60-$90 per person. Our rental car paid for itself on the first day. Don't let the rental car companies scam you on extra insurance you don't need. Bring proof of your insurance from home and a handful of different credit cards. Many credit cards cover rental car insurance.
The airport in Cancun is kinda 3rd World-ish. Things take 10 times longer than you think. Our flight landed at 5:45pm. We didn't get in our rental car until 9pm!!! But it's a small price to pay for the amazing time that awaits you in Cancun.
Oh and we saved money staying here. $99 per night was what we paid! Hotels on the same beach go for between $150-$500 per night! On the SAME BEACH!!!

About the Host, Michelle
I love what I do here in Cancun and I have won 5 years of awards for excellence on Tripadvisor for the quality of my rooms and attention to my guests.
I traded Canada for Cancun when I was 24 because I had a desire to never have to return to " reality" after vacation again. Mexico proved to be a wonderful place to live.
For ten years I worked in all the top luxury hotels in front end service and I learned so many things that can help you have a fabulous experience. I'm here full time, not an absentee owner.
The desire to vacation never went away and we enjoy it more than ever. Every four months we head overseas to major world cities to open our minds and have new experiences .... and are always looking for ways to serve you better ~ we love what we do .
Sincerely , Michelle
