Apartment - Private room · West Summerfield Glen, Ann Arbor, MI 48103, United States

Ours is a newly built condominium, two miles from fabulous downtown Ann Arbor. Your bedroom and bath have high ceilings and everything’s sparkling new. Join us for scrumptious homemade breakfast and rely on us to get you to nearby locations.

The Space

There is a queen size bed and wifi. The draperies close to make the room dark and cozy. Your private bath is directly across the hall and has a tub and shower combination.

We provide you our personal taxi service. Conrad is retired and happy to drive you to nearby destinations, and then pick you up again -- that service is included in your price. He’ll pick you up and drop you off at Metro Airport for a nominal fee. No need to rent a car for your stay in Ann Arbor, whether it’s for a game, visit the kids at school, or simply to hang out in one of the most progressive and diverse cities in America.

I enjoy making a healthy and hearty breakfast each morning for our guests and find it a perfect time to get acquainted. Feel free to enjoy the screened-in balcony any time of day, use our laundry or put your own groceries in the kitchen.

A bus stop is a short walk away and is a straight shot into downtown Ann Arbor on Liberty Street, one of the main roads in the area. Town and campus are easily accessible from here by walking or biking also. Nearby you can walk to grocery stores or a wide variety of restaurants, including Zingerman’s Roadhouse. Here’s a breakdown of places and their distance from your room in our home:

Central Campus & Downtown: 2 miles
“The Big House” Michigan Football Stadium: 2 ½ miles
University of Michigan Hospital: less than 4 miles
Shopping center with Kroger and eateries: 1 mile

Interaction with Guests

In the past several years we have used airbnb for lodging and had wonderful experiences, so now that we have our brand new condo, we want to pass that along to other nice folks. Come visit! We are available during your stay to recommend sites and activities, or simply to chat. And of course, Conrad's the driver for your needs while in town. I love to have cooking partners, so if that's your thing, we can have fun that way, too.

  • I had a lovely stay with Josie and Conrad! They are fascinating people with interesting stories to tell, and were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about everything from Ann Arbor to housesitting to genetics and tour bus driving! Their home is beautiful and incredibly tidy, in a very peaceful part of the city. Breakfast was also wonderful - bagels and fruit smoothies were a great way to start the day!

  • Josie and Conrad were wonderful hosts. My boyfriend and I chose to stay with them while we were visiting the University of Michigan Law school. Conrad picked us up and dropped us of at the airport for a small fee. Their apartment is about a 5-10 minute drive to the middle of campus, and Conrad was happy to drive us to and from our events every day. Both Josie and Conrad are extremely friendly, interesting, and interested people. We enjoyed learning about their traveling experiences, family and everything they had to tell us about Ann Arbor. They were also interested in hearing about us and how we were liking Ann Arbor and the law school. Their apartment was clean, bright and beautifully decorated. Our room was spacious, had a place for us to hang our clothes, and we had our own bathroom just across the hall. Josie even made a delicious and healthy breakfast for all of us one morning. I would definitely stay with Josie and Conrad again. Most of all, they helped us get a sense of what life would be like in Ann Arbor, and I'm happy to say it is most likely where we will be moving in the fall!

  • Josie and Conrad were outstanding hosts! Their condo, a mere 5-10 minute ride into downtown ann arbor was beautiful, clean and super comfy. What stood out, while their home was great, were really the hosts. Josie and Conrad were exceptional for my first time using Air B n B. They had great stories from their international travels and where great breakfast buddies (kudos to Josie on a great bacon, eggs, tea, coffee - the works) provided privacy when needed, and Conrad even drove me into town free of charge 4-5 times over just 2 days. Going for a game, visiting the campus, or looking for friendly face amid a trip out of town - I hands down recommend them! See you soon, guys!

  • Josie (and Conrad) are tremendous hosts. We awoke to their delicious breakfast made for us. More importantly, they remained very flexible to our changing timeline during our stay and drove us where we needed to be which was an immense help. Their love of travel is evident and they are a wonderful couple to stay with.

  • My friend and I stayed with Josie and Conrad for a night while we were visiting Ann Arbor for a football game. They were such wonderful hosts, had awesome local recommendations and even provided a binder full of information about the city! Not to mention, Josie makes some pretty killer apple crepes :) I would definitely stay with them again!

  • I came to Ann Arbor for a conference, had an issue with hotel reservation, but thanks to Josie and Conrad I had a soft landing, Conrad picked me up from the airport and I got a lovely room at their nice & new house. Their friendly attitude made me feel at home. I was lucky to be there at the time Josie was baking super yummy chocolate cookies! Every day Conrad kindly drove me to the conference venue at the University and collected me afterwards.
I had a great time at Josie & Conrad's place and would definitely recommend the place.

  • Josie is a wonderful hostess. She was kindly flexible about the arrival time, and greeted me warmly. Josie and Conrad were genuinely interested in their guest and the conversation took off right away. The condo is lovely and spacious, the room very nicely appointed, from the comfortable bed and decor to the breakfast selection sheet. There was even a seasonal floral arrangement in the private bathroom. Breakfast was delicious (“Savory Crepes”) with plenty of excellent coffee, accompanied by engaging conversation and insights about Ann Arbor. I recommend Josie enthusiastically!

Conrad and I are international house sitters and travelers. We have had wonderful experiences staying with airbnb hosts in Paris and Charleston, South Carolina. Because we finally settled down in our beautiful new condominium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, we want to return the favor and host other travelers. Conrad's retired and I freelance write. We're simple, quiet people who want to enjoy friends, family, and grandkids -- and an occasional house sit in the U.S. or abroad. When we travel, we make no reservations and love the adventure of getting lost and immersing in a culture. One of our house sits was on the side of a remote mountain in southern Spain. The home was off-the-grid with no neighbors. We loved the adventure and would do it again. As hosts or guests, the main thing is to connect with people. If you are coming to Ann Arbor, we welcome the opportunity to get to know you.
