We have a lovely double bedroom available (max 2 persons) in our newly renovated modern home in Clontarf. It’s a short hop by bus or bike to the City Centre, with lots of village-y shops and restaurants only a couple of minutes’ walk from the front door. The renowned Bull Island beach and bird sanctuary is accessed via a bridge at the end of our quiet street.
The house itself has a large bright kitchen/diner/living room with a glazed sliding wall to the patio and garden. The living area has Sky TV, a real fireplace and plenty of sofa space to crash after a long day exploring the city, or to re-charge the batteries before heading back out. The kitchen is very modern and well equipped, you are welcome to use all the facilities to prepare a meal.
The big bathroom has a large tub, a walk-in rain shower and buckets of natural light through the full-length south-facing window and skylight. The small w/c (across the hall from your room) has a certain disco-charm, too.
Your guest room has a comfy double bed, a sofa, TV and plenty of clothes hanging space. There are stocked bookshelves/DVD’s (you’re welcome to borrow one), hardwood parquet flooring with underfloor heating, original retro 60’s fireplace, overlooking the quiet front garden.

Very comfortable room in great house, and of course 'Mayday'. The guys were very accommodating with regard to arrival and departure - thank you
I had a great stay thanks. Friendly welcome, clean room with comfortable bed. Great shared facilities and close to the beach. I'd definitely stay there again of in the area.
My stay at Mike and Shay's was very nice.
The house is very beautiful and clear.
Mayday (the female black lab) is awesome! We talked a lot...
It's very easy to reach city center by bus.
I do recommend this place as a good option in Dublin.
Minha estada na casa de Mike e Shay foi bem legal.
A casa é bonita e clara.
Mayday, a labradora preta, é otima! Conversamos muito...
É muito fácil chegar ao centro de (website hidden) recomendo este lugar como uma boa opção em Dublin.
My stay with Mick and Shay, and of course their wonderful dog Mayday was fantastic! Even though they weren't going to be home arrangements were made and checking in was a breeze. They left a wonderful welcome note that provided wifi info, places to eat close by, bus info and a spot in the fridge to put some food for myself. I really felt at home. The bus was easy to catch to go into the city, about a 30 min ride, double decker bus, so you could site see on the way in or out. Mick and Shay when we met the next day were helpful with suggestions of places to see as well, very welcoming. I highly recommend staying there. The Irish Sea is close by, a lovely walk and an opportunity to walk about by the seaside, watch some kite flying or surfers. A wonderful place to stay while in Dublin to be sure! I feel somehow when I left I had made new friends. Thank you.
Great hosts, really nice reception. Gave us a tour of the house and made sure we felt at home.
The house is very well decorated and is even better than the pictures. Really close to the Bull Island beach as well!
Mick’s parents came over and they were really nice too. He made some tea and we had a nice chat.
Mayday, the dog, is really polite and playful.
All in all, a really nice place to stay, along with great hosts. I recommend it!
We only got to stay one night with these guys, but enjoyed it. I am pretty sure I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Exactly as advertised, amazing house lovely couple. I would recommend to take a taxi from the airport as its probably a lot quicker and is only about 20 Euro.
My mother and I stayed with Mick and Shay for 4 days/3 nights and found everything to be completely wonderful! Mick and Shay were very friendly and welcoming. They answered any questions we had and gave us tips about how to get around and things to do in Dublin. The room was perfect, with plenty of space for both of us to have our suitcases and things laid out and a bed that let us sleep like babies. If and when we return to Dublin, we will definitely look to stay with Mick and Shay again! (Getting some extra love from their dog, MayDay, was definitely a nice bonus as well!)
Awesome Place Right By the Sea.. the best place to stay away from the City Centre and you are still only 10 to 15 mins in the heart of Dublin..
BTW the Host are Awesome too :)
We really enjoyed our stay at Mick and Shay's – the house is beautiful, big, modern and clean and the room we stayed in was very comfortable. Shay was away while we were there but Mick was a great host, he gave us plenty of tips on what to see and do in Dublin and even drove us into the city the evening we got there. All in all a very pleasant experience – we felt welcome and at home from the beginning. Although the house is a little out of the centre there is a bus that takes you straight into the city so that isn't a problem. We would definitely stay with Mick, Shay and their very friendly labrador Mayday again!
Shay and Mick were excellent hosts, made me feel right at home and helped me with buses and train times to get to my various meetings in Dublin. They also lent me a travel card so that I didn't have to deal with exact change for the bus - a huge help! Their place is stylish indeed and close to the gorgeous St Anne's Park and Rose gardens - an absolute must when you stay with Mick and Shay.
