Private bed & bath near everything

House - Private room · Exeter Street, Providence, RI 02906, United States

Our sunny space is a full-on suite -- a quiet, spacious guest room. You'll even have a private shower, sitting room, and a private entrance! We're near Brown & RISD, around the corner from the Seven Stars Bakery and shops and restaurants of Mt. Hope.

The Space

Skylights, windows; clean, bright furnishings, and lots of private space to yourself. Come and go as you please. This is not some busy working bedroom, filled with other people's belongings! It is a full-time, dedicated guest room that we rent to you part time, in order that we can put up our family and friends in style the rest of the time. It is the perfect place for a relaxing, independent stay, with as much or little interaction with us as you like.

Guest Access

Your own private bathroom and private sitting room with a private entryway -- really, you're getting an apartment unto itself. You're also welcome to use our plant-laden garden room, kitchen and downstairs sitting room.

Interaction with Guests

We are happy to invite you to share a drink with us and exchange stories of your travels!

The Neighborhood

Mount Hope is a leafy district of grand houses just up the street from Brown University and RISD. The neighborhood is home to many faculty and grad students. The main street -- just two houses away from our threshold -- is lined with restaurants, coffee shops, bars, boutiques, thrift stores, and other shops. So easy to get things done!

Getting around

Conveniently near the many shops, restaurants, and bakeries of Hope and Rochambeau, we are a mere 7-minute taxicab ride from Amtrak and its direct connections to New York (3 hrs) and Boston (45 min). The #42 Bus will take you from the train station, bus station, or Brown University to our house in 10 or 15 minutes, or you can conveniently stroll to campus (as I do).

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We only came into town late, spent the night, and left in the morning, but Zach was a welcoming host who provided us with everything we needed. He told us about some options for dinner places. The room was clean, airy, and wonderfully located in easy proximity to everything.

  • Highly recommend! Jo & Zach were wonderful hosts and their location is perfect for exploring.

  • Really lovely people & a nice, private space in a great neighborhood. Thanks, Jo & Zach!

  • Joanna's private bed & bath ( + separate airbed in an adjacent sitting room) worked well for our 1 night father/daughter visit to Brown University. Arrangements were smooth, street parking easy, the main room very comfortable and the airbed arrangement worked for my daughter. The reccommended 7 Stars Bakery a few blocks away was fabulous for espresso drinks & baked goods! Recommended!

  • The location of this home was great. Very easy to hop on public transportation to get downtown. There were many great restaurants in the Mt. Hope neighborhood as (website hidden) and Zachary were great hosts providing us with many restaurant recommendations. They were also very accommodating hosts with flexible check-in/check-out times.

  • Beautiful, clean, and quiet home in a great neighborhood with an excellent bakery / cafe nearby. Easy to get to on public transportation, and Joanna was very pleasant and accommodating.

  • What a great place to stay! The space was lovely -- the top-floor sitting area is as charming as it looks in the pictures, and the bedroom was a warm, well-lit, and very comfortable respite from the cold winter nights. Worked well for both relaxing and getting work done.

The location is also great -- a quick bus ride or reasonable walk to campus, and a few minutes' walk to lots of eateries and cute shops.

Joanna and Zach were fantastic hosts. They were responsive to my questions by email in advance (I'm a planner), and very friendly, laid-back, and gracious, when I arrived. They were also wonderfully accommodating when last-minute travel changes required me to stay in Providence another night.

  • Had a lovely time at Jo's place for the weekend. Had the entire floor to ourselves, very quiet and pleasant space and the bed was amazing! Slept better than I do at home. Our hosts were conscientious and amiable as well. Would definitely look them up next time in in town!

    January 2014
  • We only spent one night but we had a lovely time and hope to come back to the area again! Very comfortable room, and a great experience!

    November 2013
  • It was clean, relatively quiet and quaint. The hosts were easy to wok with and the location was great.
