Ruth was a very nice and thoughtful host. I recommend especially to those with pets - taking our puppy for a walk with Ruth and her dog was especially lovely. Great breakfast too!
Ruth was a wonderful and caring hostess. My stay was short, but very enjoyable. Her house is clean and welcoming...and the breakfast was delicious.
Ruth was very accommodating. she waited until 10.00 pm for us as we were coming from Niagara falls. the home was beautiful in a quiet, lovely street. we felt so at home in the morning to eat a lovely breakfast that had been prepared for us, do our washing and take a short walk around the area. the outdoor decking and spa looked very inviting, alas, we did not have time to use these facilities.
Ruth was a most excellent host. From the moment we arrived, we could feel the warmth of her hospitality. Her home is a victorian marvel from the artfully crafted exterior to the inviting seasonal touches of the interior; we felt at home immediately.
She shared with us some recommendations on how to spend our evening and was more than accommodating throughout the remainder of our stay. I'd recommend her charming victorian retreat to anyone passing through or looking for some relaxation.
Yes, this was a delight. What a pretty little Pennsylvania village, a beautiful Victorian house, and a welcoming hostess. Only wish we'd had more time to spend there. Ruth's cinnamon buns cooking downstairs woke us up!
The house is completely stunning! We loved staying here. It was a perfect end to a long road trip across the country. Ruth is a great hostess and went to extra lengths to ensure that we were comfortable, which we appreciated. We would happily return!
Ruth is the quintessential "hostess with the mostess!" She was attentive to our every need--from providing us with suggestions for dinner (even calling an area restaurant to ask questions and printing their menu for us) to figuring out directions to our next destination via both mapquest and (website hidden)maps (for which she sent us off with bottled water). She is a great cook--quiche with fresh veggies, banana bread and fresh fruit for breakfast. Her home is immaculate and is exactly as she describes it. The hot tub on the deck was a special treat after a long day on the road (underneath the stars on a beautiful evening). The location is wonderful--easy walking distance to town and in the midst of Amish country. Horse and buggies do indeed pass by her front porch. Our only regret is that we didn't have time to enjoy area attractions, which Ruth was very knowledgeable about. Based on other reviews, we drove out of our way to stay at Ruth's and we would enthusiastically do it again!
Ruth's treated us like family. She made us the best breakfast each day and even had cookies for us as a snack. The hot tub was great and everything was so clean. April liked the selection of soaps and shampoos and I enjoyed the endless coffee and tea. We would highly recommend Ruth's place for anyone looking for a quaint country get away--even if you are local! Thanks so much for a relaxing couple of days!
We loved this Victorian Charmer! Ruth was a wonderful host, going out of her way to make us comfortable (even baking cookies for us!).
While it did not bother us, guests need to be mindful that they will be sharing a family bathroom (nice). Wireless internet access was unfortunately not working. All that said, we still really enjoyed our stay and Ruth's company!
As I was travelling 'cross Country and stayed over the weekend with my American Family in Lewisburg, we sort of had a "room situation" due to lots (!) of Family members coming in and we were trying to get everyone sorted. I therefore booked accommodation with Ruth near Lewisburg but by the time I arrived my stay had been sorted out and I had a room at my BFF's sister place.
It would've been nice to meet Ruth and I really would've loved staying with her, but my Family wouldn't let me go ... so I had to cancel my one-night-stay with Ruth at a very short notice, she was EVER so kind and understood my situation, I am forever thankful for Ruth's understanding and kindness. Our correspondence beforehand was wonderful and I daresay that she is a great host :-) I'm totally sorry for any inconvenience caused as I am usually not like this ... cancelling my stays etc.! So, I do hope to stay with Ruth one day soon :-)
