CASAFILAFERRO: ITS HISTORY

At the end of the seventeenth century, the Filaferro Family began a new business building a Mill on the Stella’s riverside, the first in Italy with special mechanical American shavels. This activity and the new technology made the family more and more rich and important. In 1793 the manor house was built near the Mill and then the fixtures and the corn house were added. During the time the Filaferro’s house was mantained by many generations with care and love. Nowadays it keeps intact the charm of the ancient times both in its structures and in its original furniture, surrounded by the green country of the Bassa Friulana and the cultivated fields marked by the rich and generous River Stella

  • Me and my friends spent a marvellous 4 days at Casa Filaferro. It (email hidden) with a calm and beautiful surroundings. In the house you can see a lot of things that reminds about a great history of a house and the family. Our hosts Anna and Paolo were very friendly to us and welcomed us with a great hospitality. I highly recommend Casa Filaferro to everyone that apreciate beauty, hospitality and traditional italian cuisine.

  • Our stay at Casa Filaferro made our visit to Italy more than just a summer vacation. Anna and Paolo welcomed us into their home with delicious home-cooked food and stories of Anna's family's history on the estate. We already miss the breakfast cakes, homemade fruit preserves, and fresh eggs from Marcella's hens. Between our visits to Venice, Aquileia, Lignano's beaches, and the nature reserves in Marano Laguna (all easily accessible from Casa Filaferro), we spent time walking in the garden and chatting with Anna and her friends. Thank you, Anna, Paolo, and Sara, for enriching our first visit to Italy. We hope to see you again.

About
Hi! I am a Law student and a Philosophy graduate. I worked in locals newspapers as journalist and then editor, I taught for a period Italian as foreing and second language and now I am a Host letting out my place to make my living until I am finished with my studies and ready to undertake new jobs (hopely as enjoying as hosting guests from pretty everywhere in the world). I love reading witty novels and boring ponderous essays; adore having a good chat and and a loud laugh; meeting new faces and getting lost in Rome and everywhere else. Well, enough as for me: hope you will like my city and my little flat and will feel a bit at home in it. Cheers!
