About this listing
Enjoy your home away from home at Bella Vista Country House. We are an international hostel, providing casual, comfortable accommodations with the magnificent backdrop of the Niagara Escarpment and the Great Lakes.
Bella Vista is a great base for exploring this 4-season paradise in Southern Georgian Bay. Or stay enroute as you visit other areas of the province. We are positive you will love our Bella Vista as much as we do!
We understand the importance of eating a healthy diet even when you’re traveling. While breakfast is not included, you are welcome to use our kitchen facilities for all of your meals if you’d rather eat at home than eat in restaurants during your stay. There may even be times when we surprise you with breakfast!
With use of the fully equipped kitchen and a variety of both indoor and outdoor living areas, Bella Vista is your home away from home. Guests use Bella Vista as a base for exploring Southern Georgian Bay, as a stopover on the Circle Tour of the Great Lakes, or as a destination where weddings, retreats, meetings, workshops, and other events are held. Bella Vista can easily hold workshop and meeting sizes of 12 people, as well as outdoor weddings of up to 50.
Bella Vista offers a range of accommodations, from private rooms with ensuite, to the Blue Room with private bath. It's a chance to connect with others exploring our little piece of Heaven.
The Blue Family Room is truly affordable, whether you are a single traveler or a couple. It has a double bed, with a private bath across the hall. Facing the backyard, it is very quiet. Please see our separate listings for our private rooms with ensuite: the Panorama Suite or the Cottage Suite.

Interaction with Guests
Interaction with the other guests and with the host depends on you and what you want! There is plenty of space to have privacy if wished, and lots of room to mingle too.
Situated on the brow of the Niagara escarpment (a UNESCO biosphere reserve), Bella Vista has a glorious panoramic view of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment, and appears worlds away. Yet, it is surprisingly close to all the amenities of our lovely area and all the activities offered:
Sports/Outdoor Activities: summer - kayaking, canoeing, fishing, sailing, boating, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, cycling, swimming, zip-lining, rock-climbing, spelunking, golfing; winter - skiing (downhill and cross country), snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and more.

Wineries: We have two award winning wineries locally, Coffin Ridge Winery and Georgian Vineyards. Visit their winery and have a wine tasting, paired with appetizers!
Breweries: We now have our own local microbrewery (Killannan Brewery) which only sells to local restaurants. Or take a tour of the Creemore Brewery in Creemore.
Restaurants: We have several restaurants in Meaford, and surrounding region, which serve everything from gourmet to pub food, to raw vegan.
Other Activities: Visit an alpaca farm, go to the spa, or relax in the Scandinavian baths at Le Scandinave Spa. Take a cooking class, or participate in a wellness retreat. Visit an artist or even take an art class. The options are endless!
To make it even more attractive, Bella Vista has partnered with many of these venues to give you discounts. What better way to make your stay even more enjoyable???
After a long day of activity, unwind back at Bella Vista and relax with a glass of wine in the gazebo or courtyard and watch the sun go down. Enjoy some S’mores and music around a bonfire in the evening (weather permitting).

About the Host, Irene
With Bella Vista Country House, we have created the form of accommodation that we prefer when travelling: a home away from home that acts as a base for exploring the locale; the flexibility to cook our own meals when we want if we choose; and meeting new interesting people who share our interests... while still having the ability to have quiet time in our own private space.
Music is very important to us, whether it is playing guitar by the bonfire, playing all genres of recorded music, or simply humming a tune. We also know that music comes in all forms, including hearing the crickets and frogs at night, the birds in the morning, or the rustling of the leaves. Our lovely area makes its own music that is a soothing and peaceful accompaniment to the glorious views of our surroundings. We never get tired of seeing it and we're sure you won't either.
As hosts, you'll find us attentive and helpful, yet casual. We're here if you want to talk with us or ask questions, but we also respect your need for privacy and quiet.
We do have two very friendly dogs, Turbo and Bella, who act as our "doggie doorbells". While they are kept separate from indoor guest areas while guests are here, you may encounter them outside.
We hope that we can help you create awesome memories of your visit to Canada!
