The Space

This space accommodates two comfortably in a queen size bed.

Guest Access

The kitchen is currently being remodeled. There is a back yard with a patio that is awesome for sipping morning coffee or taking in the last few rays of sun before the day ends.

Interaction with Guests

When you book this room you will be sharing common areas with Me and Lola and Marcus. Lola is a small dog I rescued in Feb 2013. As far as I can tell she is 10 years old, a little timid but also very cuddly. Marcus is my nephew who is staying with me while he attends school here in SF. I work full time, and then some, while Lola manages the home.

The Neighborhood

I am located at the edge of Bernal Height/outer mission and crossing into Glen Park. Comfortably close to all the action.

Getting around

House is located on a main bus line that travels the span of the city from Embarcadero to Daly City. There are several bus lines within walking distance that can connect you to pretty much any place you'd like to go in the city. There is limited street parking, no permit is required.

If you are coming from SFO you can catch BART inbound towards Embarcadero, exit at Glen Park Station and transfer to the J taking it one stop to San Jose and Randall Street. From there It's a one block walk on Mission.

If you are coming from Oakland, you can catch the airport shuttle to Bart. Catch any outbound train to the 24th Street Station. At 24th you catch the 14, or 49 outbound for a 14 min ride to Appelton Street. Exit, cross the street walk half a block.

Other Things to Note

Parking in the city is hard to come by. I don't offer any private parking. If you have a vehicle be prepared for street parking on hills and occasionally a two block walk to the house.

  • Just returned from staying in Annamarie's home and the experience was excellent. Her communication both via email and text was timely and helpful both before we arrived and during the trip. The room was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom, and linens, towels, and basic toiletries were all provided, as was wireless access. We needed to check in early and circumstances allowed us to arrange that, which was so appreciated. The neighborhood was a long walk to certain parts of the city, but the bus runs regularly and there is a stop just outside the door (though unless you get a clipper card, make sure you have exactly $2 because you won't be given change!) We used the 24th st/ mission Bart station, a 10 min walk from the house, for most of our travel downtown because it's much faster than buses- we chose to walk to the station but the bus takes you right there, too. Because much of what we were doing was downtown or in Oakland we ended up not returning to the house during the day / leaving in the morning and not returning until night and it was a lovely place to come home to. The private bathroom was an awesome bonus and I will be looking for that luxury from now on. I highly recommend Annamarie's place, particularly if you have a travel companion to discover the awesome Mission restaurants and coffee shops with you! The food would require a separate post but the short story is: yum.

  • The room with private bath was exactly as listed, though the kitchen was being remodeled so didn't seem to be available for guest use and similar comments apply to the patio in the back which was potentially very nice, but was filled with remodelling materials. For most visitors, however, who want to do something other than stay inside, this should present no problem and for the price, this is good value. The room faces the street, but it is actually very quiet. The surrounding neighborhood was safe and with lots of ver good restaurants on Mission St. and up the hill on trendy Bernal Heights.

  • Anna was a great host. My booking was very spontaneous and Anna answered very quick to make it possible for me to change the apartment. Mission street is perfect for visiting the city center (15 minutes by bus) , the room is exactly as shown in the pictures, the bath is nice and clean.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Annamarie's house on mission street. The room was very spacious, with a lovely attached bathroom. The space is private and in a great location near several Muni stops. We would stay here again!

  • This is a great space in a surprisingly good location. It has one of the nicest bathrooms we have ever encountered with Airbnb. Annamarie and her nephew, Marcus, are charming people.

  • Anna-Marie's place was more than we expected. She really took care of the details like hair dryers and heaters. Her place is fairly central once you get used to the Bart and muni transport.

  • I spent two nights in Anna's house and enjoyed the time there very much. It is located close to a bus station which takes you to the most important parts in the city.
I had the chance to talk to Anna and she is a very interesting host and I felt comfortable to stay in her home.
The room / bath is nice and clean, nothing to complain. I recommend this to anyone who wants to stay close to the mission district and still have a quiet place to stay.

  • My partner and I are moving to SF and wanted a place near our new neighborhood as a home base for exploring the city. Annamarie's place was great! Though she was away the weekend we were there, she gave great directions for everything. The room is spacious and the location is great for all of the Bernal Heights restaurants and bars.

About
I grew up in the house that I'm living in. Not to many San Franciscans can say that. When my family acquired it it had been sitting on a rotting lot, legally condemned. It still needs a lot of cosmetic work but over the years it's become a comfortable home. I've visited around the US mostly road trips through Texas; the farthest east I've been is Indiana. I visit family in Mexico semi annually and took a trip to Peru a few years ago. I studied theatre and Early Childhood Education. I am currently working as Lead teacher (email hidden)-op.
