Set in stunning countryside surrounded by vast, green open spaces, wild flowers, woods of chestnut trees, oaks and running brooks; such is the landscape waiting to embrace visitors to Castro dei Volsci, deep in the heart of the Ciociaria region. An imposing round-arched portal, the “silent witness to many passing through”, welcomes guests into our Hostelry.
The rooms, fitted with all modern comforts, are elegantly furnished in a fashion reminiscent of past-times and ancestral memories; each room has been named after the person it once belonged to, such as Grandpa Rocco and Grandma Palma, the elderly owners of the house.
The materials used in furnishing the rooms are a tribute to the creative forces of nature as shaped by man; wrought iron, terracotta, porcelain and wood play a leading role in the interior decor, which has been designed with great care and good taste. Each space has its own particular style, guests can wind down and be pampered in the whirlpool bath fitted in each room whilst their senses are filled by a sense of serenity, instilled by the beautiful objects furnishing the room.
Here at the holiday farm, our love and dedication to the fruits of the earth are still in tune with ancient rhythms. In our fields and vegetable patches, wholesome produce goes straight to the tables and served to our guests at the Hostelry. Age-old recipes with unique flavours; vegetables, farm-reared meat, wild boar and fine wines – all our ingredients are natural and carefully selected.
Our hospitality is just the same, warm and welcoming, just like that once offered to the travellers of yesteryear as they passed through the Valle del Sacco.
In order to calm the spirit, find out more about local customs and traditions or even just to enjoy a relaxing break, a stay at the our hostelry, the “Locanda del Ruspante” is the ideal choice for anyone looking to visit places of historical and natural interest in the area, such as the Abbey of Montecassino (40 km), the Abbey of Casamari (30 km) the Carthusian monastery of Trisulti (40 km) and the ancient towns of the Ciociaria region such as Ferentino, Alatri, Anagni, Arpino, the nearby caves of Pastena (3 km) and the archaeological area museum of Castro dei Volsci. The holiday farm is also just half an hours’ car drive from the coast and the beaches of the Ulysses Riviera and the Pontine Islands.
