The Space

A bright, cheerful, private, second story studio apt. in heavily treed, 10-acre setting on river bank. Queen bed plus pull-out single, shower bathroom and tiny kitchen overlooking landscaped gardens. Situated in natural springs area of north Florida in picturesque High Springs. Blissful, quiet, natural setting with lots of wildlife and yet only 20 minutes from Gainesville. Go Gators!

Explore north Florida's only rock shop, the High Springs Emporium, on 441 or the nearby Ginnie, Blue and Poe Springs. The unique karst geology and resulting underwater cave formations attract divers from around the world. Canoeing down the Santa Fe river or swimming in the constant temperature springs are popular activities. Visit the organic farm where our black Angus roam and where horseback riding may be arranged on a limited basis.

At last, the wireless internet is currently available. Generally good cell phone reception but not inside because of the metal roof.

No public transportation.

  • The property is beautiful, and the treehouse was a perfect base for me while I explored some of the enchanting local springs. It was quiet and peaceful, and Judi and Mike were delightful hosts. Judi provided fresh eggs from her chickens, and spring water from their well. My dog ran about the property with gleeful abandon, chasing several deer and squirrels. It was a much-needed escape from the busy and hot city. We will definitely be back...thank you, Judi and Mike!

  • Perfect place to stay in one of the most beautiful parts of Florida! Judi is a wonderful host. The apartment is very clean and comfortable with a private, natural setting. The fresh eggs and spring water were very much appreciated. Highly recommended!

  • Judi was lovely and easy to communicate with. She answered my questions promptly. The place was quiet and secluded. The wifi and the AC both worked great. (Thank god because it was hot!) The only down sides were: rusty pots and pans, and low water pressure in the shower. The kitchen is located in a closet, literally, but it has a small fridge, sink, two burners, toaster, dishes and utensils. I wouldn't recommend it for elaborate cooking but it worked for making breakfast. Judi provided some farm fresh eggs which were delicious.

    Response from Judi:

The water pressure issue, I think, was because I was watering the garden at the same time! I am so sorry though as I dislike a vapid shower also. As for the pots, I will attend to that immediately. Thanks for the heads up. Hardly anyone cooks over there and it didn't occur to me to look! Great criticism. I appreciate the input.

  • Judi and Horsepower Farms Treehouse was a wonderful, enchanting weekend getaway! We were most comfortable in the inviting, clean little treehouse cottage and loved the little kitchen with a stove, coffee pot and toaster. The bed was very nice with down comforters for use with the bed and pull out twin bed. We woke to the sound of birds and peace and quiet. The wifi worked perfectly. The property is very woodsy and lovely. We would definitely recommend it highly and hope to return someday. Thanks, Judi!

  • Judi and Mike were awesome hosts. The property was just what we were looking for. Secluded, private, and the ability to come and go as we pleased. My husband and I were there for just the weekend to attend a friend's wedding in Gainesville, but we did spend some time getting to know Judi and Mike and enjoyed every minute of it. I wished we had had more time just to visit with them. They are lovely people. You can tell Judi has a passion for her farm and all that it contains. We had fresh eggs for breakfast both days, courtesy of Judi and the chickens. The Treehouse is in the woods in northern FL, so be prepared for mosquitos, but otherwise everything was as expected and described.

High Springs is a beautiful, quaint little town with some nice eateries. Not a lot in the way of "night life", but we weren't there for that. Also, if you are interested in any kind of river water activities there is an outfitter in town that can hook you up.

We plan on going back to enjoy the river, the springs, and the town and would love to stay with Mike and Judi again.

This one is a "keeper"! Thanks Judi and Mike for your hospitality and a great place to rest.

Judi and Mike were very amiable hosts and lovely to be around. The whole experience was very relaxing and enjoyable from visiting and riding the horses to walking around the property and enjoying the view of the river. • Judi and her husband are two amazing people. Their property and rental apartment were absolutely gorgeous. The house was clean and substantial enough to accommodate myself, wife, and two children (3 &1). Judi is a kind woman who prepared the house for us along with bringing us some vhs tapes of old disney movies to watch with our girls. Her husband was a life savior when he came over and jumped my car the morning we were leaving because of a dead battery. the property itself is very natural and on a river. the old oak trees, birds, and animals surround you on this property making you really feel one with nature. My whole family had a wonderful time here and would definitely return to stay again. I highly recommend this property to anyone staying in the high springs area.

Trying to be self-sustainable growing Black Angus beef and chickens, growing organic vegetables and herbs; keeping fit in the process while riding my Tennessee Walkers and learning how to clog. Love the outdoors so this is a fine place to be. We love to watch the river roll by but have little time ourselves to indulge in a canoe float downstream but I can highly recommend it as we used to do it when this was our weekend hideaway!
