About This Listing
The Dogwood Cabin is located on 33 acres of rolling hills, creeks and lakes nestled in the pristine North Georgia Mountains. The all pine interior and wood burning fireplace greet you when you open the door. 24 hr on-site support + hi-tech amenities.
Enjoy fall leaves or winter snow in a private cabin that is a little bit country...and a whole lot of Ikea. Modern/Rustic decor with all "mod cons" (3 smart flat screen TVsLED TVs in the bedrooms, washer/dryer, dishwasher, indoor Jacuzzi Tub in master bathroom, Wi-Fi, Wii, Chromecast, HBO, Roku and fully equipped kitchen). Fresh linens and towels provided in this two bathroom that sleeps 6 (1 king size bed in master bedroom, a full-sized bed in the sleeping loft, a queen size sofa bed in the living room, and a single sofa bed in the loft). Our cabin is both kid friendly (our son loves the hammock, DVDs, toys, etc.) and completely romantic (we love the Jacuzzi tub, quiet porch views, fireplace, and how we are set away from all other cabins for privacy). In truth, our son loves the Jacuzzi, too. Enjoy coffee, full meals or a nap on the wide back porch that has a sleeping hammock, gas grill (no charcoal mess), and rocking chairs. Trout fishing (2 fishing poles provided), beautiful Vogel State Park & Lake Windfield Scott, and horseback riding nearby. The cabin is 20 minutes from the start of the Appalachian Trail, and 15 minutes from Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest mountain. We stay in the cabin for part of summer and live full-time in Miami. Our family lives in Blairsville year-round, so we are familiar with the area and have lots of suggestions for things to do and places to go if needed. Remember, we have on-site, 24-hour help from someone who will meet you at the cabin and is able to guide you to local sights when needed (or get you more firewood). We are also a text or email away for special requests or assistance. We travel internationally a lot (family in South America and Germany); we understand the unique needs of travelers that may arise.
$125 per night (2 night minimum); special rates for Sundays through Thursdays and for anyone who rents for extended stays. Let's talk.
The cabin has a fireplace (free firewood provided during the winter months), full kitchen, indoor Jacuzzi tub, 2 full bathrooms, electric AC/heat, fully-loaded kitchen, 3 smart LCD TVs with HBO, a Roku, and a Wii, and a gas grill with gas provided. There's Netflix, Chromecast, WiFi, and free nationwide land-line. (The land-line is important, as the remote location can interfere with cellphone reception.) On-site trails and creeks.
Interaction is as often as necessary. We are available via text, (website hidden), or cell phone and we have a property manager who lives 40 yards away in another cabin. If you want support or have questions, we are available.
Some of our favorite things to do, details of which you will find in our guest book: Vogel State Park, Lake Windfield Scott State Park,
Tubing in Helen, The Christmas Tree farm down the road, Breakfast at The Griddle, Running at Meeks Park, working out with a weekly pass at Union General Wellness Center and fishing in some of the area creeks
We have two fishing poles available for use for our guests
Pets are allowed, but incur an additional $50 cleaning fee, since we need to do a particularly good job at getting the cabin ready for our next guests. We would appreciate it if you did not smoke inside the cabin.
Loved our stay. Beautiful place that has everything but bring you own shampoo. Full wood interior and vaulted ceiling create the cabin experience. Very peaceful, relaxing, and remote. But electronics galore for entertainment. Will definitely come back in the future. Well worth it.
Apparently there was a miscommunication between owner and manager, the place wasn't cleaned when we arrived. The manager got the cleaning lady to come then, which was great. We had a dinner on that night and the towels weren't dried until 730, others not until the next morning, pretty incovinent. Nice place though, not as private as I thought it was going to be, it is in a cabin rental community. Couldn't find the French press coffee machine as on the iternary. Beds were comfortable. Fire place was nice. Not thrilled with it not being cleaned..
Indeed we had an issue with our cleaning person and property manager misunderstanding the arrival, but I take responsibility as it's ultimately on the owners to have this taken care of. I tried contacting our guests several times to offer an apology, reduced rate, and additional free nights, but never got a response. As you can see from our multiple 5 star reviews (nothing but 5 star reviews, in fact!) this is an extreme exception. But indeed it feels terrible when you are the exception. Rest assured that having a great stay is our ultimate priority, and we will do whatever it takes to ensure our guests' stay meets their expectations. That said, we do NOT have a French press, but rather a drip / grinder setup, as well as a regular coffee machine.
We stayed here for our spring break (5 friends) and loved it! The master bedroom was super comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, the showers had hot water consistently. We cooked dinner in the cabin every night, and when it was nice ate on the porch (and read in the hammock!) We also made use of the fireplace (s'mores!) The property manager is great too, very easy to reach and will answer all your questions about hikes and local activities! Bad cell reception, but if you have wifi it's not hard to keep in contact with the outside world. Highly recommend for someone looking to escape into nature.
Listing as described. Good communication, great location, easy to find and well equipped.
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our quaint stay for Valentines weekend. The cabin was everything we could have wanted!
Absolutely amazing! This cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. Apart from being extremely picturesque, this cabin had everything you could possibly need, including the most comfortable master bed, ever! I have always dreamt of a quintessential American christmas and this cabin made my dream come true!
The host answered all of our questions extremely promptly and were very accommodating when our guest numbers changed.
Thanks so much again!
About the Host, Nelson
Nelson is an obsessive compulsive long distance runner from Miami Beach (I beat Oprah and P-Diddy at the NYC Marathon!) who occasionally fishes and spends way too much time thinking about fishing. My wife, Glenda, is a librarian who uses librarian glasses and reads a lot like librarians do. She loves the outdoors and is completely immune to cold weather. She can also do a mean cannon ball in the pool.
