Beautiful area

This home is in a scenic location.
A simple cottage with a private garden, in the quiet countryside. Very fast broadband. Two miles from Market Drayton, with markets on Saturday and Wednesday. Nearby attractions include Alderford Lake water park, Shrewsbury, Hawkstone Follies, Hodnet Hall garden with the Bear Inn

Please note the cottage can be rather cold in winter: that due to the conservation requirements of the area there is no double glazing and there is only electric heating

No hen or stag weekends, and no parties please

The space
Simply decorated, a little cottage in the grounds of Buntingsdale Hall. In the countryside, with a private enclosed garden with fire pit, bbq, tables and a lounger, comfortable chairs, and access to the private lakeside (shared with us and our guests, about 5 acres) just over the private drive, about 20 meters from the cottage. A rustic cottage, easy outside access but not the mod cons of a new build! So electric heating and some hard floors (slippers and clogs provided), and nature is always trying to come in!

Largest bedroom; king size bed, bedroom with two windows. Open beamed ceiling

Twin bedroom; next door. Window opens into the conservatory

Third bedroom; double bed with access from only one side. Two small windows, Clothes rail. Not suitable for those who are infirm? Not suitable if second sleeper is claustrophobic

About 2 miles from the local Sainsbury’s (open til 11), 4 miles from Market Drayton, 25 miles from Shrewsbury

The kitchen has been restored with a huge slate milk sink from a Welsh farmhouse; there’s a conservatory with sofas, a table for six and a gas fire.

There’s a kitchen with a full sized cooker, Nespresso, dishwasher, fridge and inside fridge freezer. Big white plates and big glasses

There are bed nets in the cupboard by the bathroom, which attach to hooks above the beds, if you’d like to sleep with the windows open in summer

LAKESIDE
A lovely, wild space with a big lake and river, private to our guests and ourselves

Children and dogs must be supervised at all times. The riverbank and deck can be slippery and are not suitable for unsupervised use for children, night-time use, swimming, paddling or boating, except kayaks etc by arrangement. Being by the lake is at your own risk.

Other things to note
Bikes to borrow. Nice walks from the door. We have some big dogs that are free range, but won’t be in your private garden. Please only bring socialised dogs. Sorry no music outside please

Neighborhood highlights

Very quiet and green, with dark skies at night. A locked private lakeside for just your and our use, shared with us and our dogs and closest neighbours. A rural area, but within 2 miles of Market Drayton (7 minutes by car, 35 minutes on foot), a historic market town with a street market every Wednesday and Saturday morning, a brewery with big tables, food and fires. Canals, cinema, pubs and restaurants, swimming pool. A good butcher, Scott Shepley and Sons, and a cake shop, Gill's Puddings, are close, as as well as a Sainsbury's convenience store. Ocado and other supermarkets deliver. Locally lots of walking, wild swimming in the mill stream. Close to Fordhall Farm, a community farm with children's activities and a great farm shop and cafe. Twenty minutes drive to Shrewsbury, a medieval town with cool shops, restaurants and a craft market. NT houses, Attingham, Erdigg. Drivable to Lake Bala, Llangollen for white water rafting and steam trains! Parking next to the door, and an electric charger available in the carpark
