Gladys was amazing. She made us feel so welcomed and went out of her way to accommodate us so we could enjoy the city as much as possible. The apartment is really cute and spacious. It is 1 block from the subway and we felt safe the whole time. I highly recommend staying here. It is a great value for NY.
The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The front bay window had a lovely view of a large sycamore tree. Gladys was very helpful and kind. The only surprise was that there is not a real kitchen, although that might have been clear in the description and I missed it. However, the space had a full size refrigerator, coffee maker (critical for me!) and microwave. So if all you need to make is breakfast it is sufficient. The location is super convenient!
Our host made us feel completely welcomed. She is amazing! We felt right at home. She had breakfast and snacks for us as well as some toiletries. When we arrived, she greeted us and showed us around the place. She is super friendly and very personable. We love Gladys!
The location was amazing - walking distance to the train and 24-hr. Rite Aid as well as some great places to eat and shop near Steinway street. We couldn't have asked for a better location.
The listing on this site was very clear, detailed and accurate. It was even better in person than what it seemed like. We highly recommend this place to stay if you're coming to New York.

Enjoyed eating locally as well as walking home at night..no worries. Gladys..Was kind and brought us fruit and yogurts ect and even insisted on cooking breakfast for us ;-) when we were leaving early. My next trip back will be to stay at Gladys and Bobs place again.
My 23 yr old son thought Gladys was a hoot.. Always laughing ;-)

I hope that others get the change to visit you and enjoy you both being Great Host
Gladys and Bob were wonderful hosts! Gladys was so nice and friendly and she was quick to respond to any questions that I had about the property and location. We weren't able to meet Bob until our last day but he was really nice too! I loved the little touches that Gladys made to our apartment, such as tissue boxes in every room, cold bottled water in the refrigerator, lots of clean towels in the bathroom and lots of pillows to choose from in the bedroom. The location of the property was awesome! Lots of yummy cafes and markets close by and only about 2 blocks from the subway--so convenient! And the option to park in the backyard was super helpful. Also, the neighborhood seemed very safe.
Gladys and Bob are amazing hosts. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. The house is even nicer than the pictures and in the summer, the airflow was awesome. We slept with the windows open - definitely felt safe enough to do so. The apartment is decorated well, feels airy and spacious. Bed very comfortable. They have little details like soaps, perfumes, stacks of towels, etc. which lend to the serene environment.
I was most impressed by how Gladys obtained a crib for us because she knew we were traveling with our five month old son. It was the attention to detail like this that made our experience so memorable.
We also loved how Gladys and Bob were so willing to let us make ourselves at home. We used the grill in the backyard two nights in a row, relaxing with some wine. Perfect time.
We were very excited going to NYC and the USA for the very first time. We had a very good contact with Gladys&Bob from the start. We were NOT disappointed! They're fabulous! Serviceminded, sweet and thoughtful. Astoria is great! Near the metro. Shops and restaurants just around the corner. Perfect size if you are two people. We couldn't have had it better! We are definitely coming back next spring!
