This was the ideal place to stay during our trip to NYC. We have visited the city many times, but this was our first time staying in one of the outer boroughs, Astoria is a perfect neighborhood for visiting! It is a great combination of neighborhood life and city living. We wish we had allowed more time to tour the area and not just focus our stay on Manhattan! Besides a great neighborhood of shops and restaurants, our accommodations were perfect!
The king size bed was perfectly sized for us and our young daughter. There was a twin bed in the living room, that gave more sleeping space if it was needed. It was a very comfortable living area and was a great respite after a long day of sightseeing. We appreciate the ability to bring our own food when we vacation. We have food allergies and kids are picky eaters! Gladys and Bob were both so friendly and helpful, providing lots of information and parking assistance. We had driven and we were expecting a snow storm during our stay. They went above and beyond to give us all the help we needed! We have already decided this will be our first choice for lodging whenever we visit the city. We just hope they don't get so busy we won't be able to get the room!
Very kind and hospitable hosts; tidy place, a little frayed but completely comfortable. Good neighborhood, convenient and all in all, great!
Gladys & Bob are super nice, trustworthy and welcoming hosts. Me and my two sons loved being with them. It was very cold during our stay, so Bob lent his gloves to my youngest son. Gladys put something nice to eat or drink in our fridge almost every day. Good working wifi, plenty of towels, lovely beds, a cosy and comfortable house and three kisses (Dutch habit) when we said goodbye. Very good apartment!
It's a nice apartment and very close to the metro. It was very clean and with some brouchures and maps to make easyer or stay in NY. We only meet her, and she helps us a lot with information about the airports and how to move around the city.
Great stay in Queens. Flight problems we experienced were handled skillfully and benevolently by our host, Gladys. Spending time with us while programming the TV was kind...overall a very enjoyable experience!
Querida comunidad airbnb hispanoparlante:
Gladys and Bob are excellent hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
My husband and I stayed with Glad and Bob for 4 days. The place was even cuter than the listing lead me to believe and central to everything. Our hosts were incredibly accomdating without being at all intrusive. They gave us complete privacy, but were a quick text away. We had a great time there, and they made sure we had everything we needed, including some snacks and coffee :) We will absolutely stay with them again on our next trip to the area!
Bob & Gladys were great and warm and friendly hosts. Despite the weather our stay went smoothly without hiccups. The large TV was a plus in helping us stay up-to-date on the playoffs and the snacks Gladys left were much appreciated.
All the reviews were right, this a great place to explore the city from.
This was our first time using AirBnb and we were initially a little nervous but after meeting Bob and Gladys, we were immediately put to ease by their warmth, kindness and generosity. Gladys has a great laugh and a twinkle in her eye when she talks and you feel like you're talking to an old friend, while Bob always reassuring and made sure our stay was comfortable.
There is a private entrance into the apartment via the front and we were given a lot of privacy at all times. The area is safe and the neighbours are friendly! We love that the 46th Street subway is literally a 5 minute walk around the corner, allowing us to get into the city in 20 minutes or so.
The outside of the apartment was decorated with Christmas lights and is really pretty in the evening! Inside, it is very spacious and cozy with natural light and is well heated even in the winter.
Some features include a large TV with cable channels, a bath tub with hot/cold water, a large bed, closet with hangers, fresh towels, hair dryer and an ironing board.
The living room has a couch and a couch/bed that is comfortable for one person to sleep in. The kitchenette is compact but well stocked with the necessities such as a full sized fridge, kettle, and cutlery. The hosts were not obliged to provide food but they kindly stocked water, bread, tea, yoghurt, cream cheese, bananas and chocolates for our enjoyment. On NYE, they were even so kind to share with us the delicious food that Gladys' sister had cooked!
The official checkout time is at noon but the couple graciously allowed us to hang out all day even though they had to prepare for another arrival at night. This had saved us some stress and money and is greatly appreciated!
This truly was a wonderful experience and our only complaint is not being able to stay longer!
