Historic neighborhood on the side of "A-Mountain".
Free to use large BBQ grill but please use common sense while on the upstairs deck.
We love our neighbors, please respect the noise levels so they love us too!
Norm stopped by the day after our check in. He made himself available but was not intrusive at all. We were in Tucson for our son's wedding and Sweeping Mountain was the perfect venue for the family. The space was plenty for our needs and we had several people in and out. The view from the porch is amazing! Kitchen is well stocked. We would rent here again.
This place was perfect for us! Plenty of room, privacy and comfort. The location is perfect - halfway up a mountain on Tucson's west side. The views are, as advertised, sweeping and beautiful. The neighborhood is quiet and great for taking an early morning or evening walk. In fact, you can walk all the way to the top of Sentinal Peak, (or "A" Mountain) if you're looking for a challenge! We did blow a fuse when we tried to use the whirlpool in the smaller bath, but Norm was very easy to get a hold of to take care of it. The beds were comfy and the whole atmosphere is cozy and inviting. And the price is more than reasonable. Would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at Norm's. Spacious house comfortably accommodated 4 adults and a baby. Would be happy to rent again.
Beautiful sunrise views, building with a history as a bed & breakfast starting in 1953. Norman has lots of interesting guidebooks available.
The master bedroom is spacious and bed comfortable, the other two bedrooms with queen beds share a bathroom. There are alcoves to hang clothes but no dressers. The fourth bedroom is actually a small room adjacent to the living space and curtained off. Lots of items for families with children. Kitchen, bedding and towels were very clean, but the premises could have used a good deep clean. Location is very convenient to downtown and great dining, but on a quiet street near A Mountain.
There was a problem with the water pump when we arrived and Norm called plumbers and got it repaired promptly.
It was pretty apparent as soon as we arrived that the apartment had not been cleaned in....months? I did notice prior reviews mentioned that it was not the cleanest place, but that was an unfair understatement. The floors were covered with dust, food crumbs, dirt, stuff. The bathroom floors, well, were just filthy. Hair in the sinks, showers, on the floors. It was gross. And it was clear the floors had not been mopped/washed in a VERY long time. Dishes in the kitchen that were on the shelves were dirty. We left the dishes/apartment far cleaner than we arrived. Some windows didn't shut in big bedroom which allowed road noise to come in all night. If you need darkness to sleep do not use the front bedroom as the glass block windows have no curtains and the motion sensor lights outside go on and off all night and its very bright in there.
Impossible to get hold of the host. Never met him as he left the door unlocked for us to get in. Took time to find keys so we could lock up. He did not answer his phone and did not return calls when we were there. There was a blown fuse in the apartment so one bathroom had no lights (and had no window), and part of the living room lights also were not working. Since we couldnt get hold of the host, we were not comfortable searching for a fuse box.
Internet did not work. We eventually found a small piece of paper with a password, but it did not work. So we had no internet all weekend, which when visiting a new city is problematic.
The location itself was great. Very convenient and the sunrise views were awesome. Neighborhood looks dicey, but it was quiet and we had no problems. This could be a really fabulous place to stay if it was cleaned, the host was accessible, and they got ride of the tons of mismatched furniture that crowds the space.
Norm made the whole experience effortless and enjoyable. The house was in pristine condition and fit right in with a perfect weekend; the views alone were priceless. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Norm was great, he called us to let us know when the home would be ready. When we showed up he was there, cleaning up after some apparently very messy guests. We were short on time so he let us get comfortable while he went about his business. The home itself was quite large, able to accomodate 8-10 people, with beautiful views of downtown and the mountains
