  • My boyfriend and I reserved the RV for two nights over Valentines weekend and could not have been more satisfied. This remote getaway was exactly what we were looking for and what we needed. Carol and Doc were very accommodating, friendly and even decorated the tree in front of the RV as well as the living space with hearts for the occasion which was such a nice surprise. We took a walk to a near by river bed and we felt like we were the only ones around for miles. The RV was cozy and we loved watching movies in bed while hearing the Coyotes and Owls in the distant. Would recommend and will stay again.

  • We had a wonderful second visit to Sespe Retreat! You can't beat such a remote and beautiful spot, with great hosts, and the RV is luxurious and always very clean and well stocked. We love watching the "pink moment" sunsets and having campfires at night, and watching the sun rise over the mountains in the morning. Awesome!

  • What an amazing place!! Carol and Doc have created a dream escape for themselves and others with this amazing property in the middle of a national park. They have thought of everything - from the well-equipped RV to the outdoor fire pit to the hammock for 2! We had a blast - and especially loved adopting their three dogs for the weekend. Felt like home!

  • Carol and Doc (and their 3 cute dogs) were gracious hosts to their Ojai RV retreat. They made us feel welcome, showed us the ropes and then gave us space to do our thing. The RV was fully equipped, clean and had a lot of nice touches (an awesome study in small space living). There is a house nearby in the back that is apparently occasionally occupied if that matters to you but we were fine with it. It got cold at night, but the bonfires kept us warm and the stars were incredible. I'd highly recommend this spot for anyone who wants to get away from the city for a few days in a glamping kind of way!

  • Amazing is the best word that I can find to describe the weekend that we had at Carol and Doc's Little Piece of Heaven :)

Beautiful views and accommodations were just what the doctor ordered (and the Blackhawks game on the satellite didn't hurt either) and did they deliver. Carol and Doc's trailer had everything that we needed and then some. Word of advice to other guests ... don't try to light the LED candles. Use the remote instead! :)

We have already booked our next visit and are counting the days!

  • Carol's place was perfect! I read all the other reviews before I booked and they were all spot on. Clean and quiet and the absence of cell phone service allowed us to absorb the peace and tranquility to its utmost. And we loved their dogs. Can't say enough about the place. Don't miss out on this gem. Thanks again Carol and Doc!

  • At Carol and Doc's sanctuary, we were able to recharge and reconnect. The RV is surprisingly comfortable and spacious. We saw the Milky Way and many shooting stars every night. Can't wait to go back soon.

  • Doc and Carol's remote and magical ranch left a great impression on both of us. We'd definitely rent again. Their RV was decked out with everything we needed, it was well placed, well thought out and totally practical. We found it easy to find our bearings and the Pierces were available by radio and in person should we have needed anything. Feeling the silence on arrival, was profound. As a result, we found ourselves resisting the idea of using the generator because of the peace we felt during our stay. Happy that we stocked up with food at the grocer on our way up to the ranch, we did not want to head back to town after our arrival. It was that quiet. Good to know though, that Ojai and the coast was an easy drive down the mountains, if we wanted to head back for a meal, supplies or a day at the beach. We gladly brought Binoculars, there were a regular flock of quail at dawn and a varied birdlife to study, mainly by flopping in the hammock in the afternoons. A bonus was the four friendly Nigerian dwarf goats that would often graze nearby while waiting for their daily walk with Doc, Carol and their fun dogs. Pocket Gopher thuds underfoot while lighting an evening fire etc all really added to the many charms of Howard Creek. Although we took a few explorative trips by car during the day, we had no reason to leave the area, there were plenty of long and interesting hikes we took directly from the ranch.

Doc and Carol have created something very special over the years. We are immensely grateful that they gave us the opportunity to share a part of their world and their experience with us. Really, we can both only think of positive things to say. It was our first experience using airbnb and we couldn't have been happier. Thank you Carol and Doc.

  • My only hesitation in writing is that it is my sincere hope that this rental will always be available and that giving an accurate reflection of the experience will limit that severely.

Carol and Doc are the kindest of hosts (as are their wonderful dogs) and this rental sits in one of the most beautiful corners of California. In the past, I had camped along the Sespe river and walked much of the Pacific Crest Trail nearby, but nothing prepared me for the beauty and serenity of this location.

With regard to the accommodations, I had previously never stayed in a trailer, but suffice to say it was fully appointed and better amenities then most 2br apartments. There was ample room to cook, sleep, and, most of all, lay around and enjoy the view.

A short drive from Los Angeles and far enough from Ojai to feel remote, I hope to return soon and often - hopefully after a rainy season when the swimming hole is a bit more full (a great, short hike away).

I could not recommend this location with more certainty and will surely be competing for weekends for years to come, so book early.
