We are Adela and Manuel:
Manuel is 66 years old, retired, and I have 57 years, we are almost all day at home. We have five years of experience hosting tourists.
We have two children, but do not live with us. We are very quiet people, we like to chat with friends, watch movies, play sports. We love having housed, share our culture, as is the food and that people feel at ease, as in your own home. Accommodation includes burglar alarm and keys for each room.
We have hot water 24 hours a day. There are also filter water to drink. There washing machine to wash your clothes-housed. You can use the kitchen to prepare food. From our house you can see the city with a great view of the three volcanoes, Misti, Chachani y Pichupichu.
If the room indicates "busy" we have three ads where you can book. The room size is 9 square meters.
It is possible to provide dinner for a fee of $ 3.00.
We help to stay orienting on what you need. Very near the house there are shops, restaurants, cinemas and shopping center.
Arequipa is a beautiful city with a beautiful and sunny weather most of the year, the climate is dry and mild, sunny day and cold at night, with an average temperature of 20 ° C.
There are many tourist spots in the city, and other cities as the Colca Canyon. The people are very welcoming to tourists. The property is located in the city center, a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas.
The Cottage Residential neighborhood is Cabaña María. You can walk to the main square in 20 minutes. If you want you can also go by bus or taxi (the fee of taxi is 5 soles). Public transport is 50 meters away from the house.
We wait for you!
I am one of the lucky visitors to Arequipa! I was able to stay in Adela and Manuel’s home for over a month as I explored Arequipa, improved my Spanish (with their help!), and learned about Peru. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this couple is and what a pleasant place their home is. Adela prepares the most delicious food—everything is made from scratch—even the preserves! If you have time, I encourage you to arrange in advance to have dinner as well as breakfast. You won’t be disappointed. Manuel meets guests at the bus station and accompanies them to the house so there is no chance to get lost or confused. The day I arrived was my first day in Peru and my Spanish was atrocious, so it was so comforting to have this service. On my first day, Mechel showed me the easiest way to get to the Plaza del Armas, pointed out the best places to eat along the way, and showed me how to cross the street (a very important new skill!). When Adela found out how interested I am in fiber arts, she took me to the local fiber mill where alpaca yarn is sold. When I needed to get my hair cut, she did not just tell me where to find a peluquería (salon), she took me there herself and introduced me to Lily, the hairdresser! I was often invited to have a snack with Manuel’s extended family. When I made an excursion to Puno, Adela insisted on seeing me to the bus stop and making sure I got on the right bus. When I returned, I truly felt like I was coming HOME.
Although the home is located on a busy street, it is very quiet at night and I never had any problem sleeping. The bed was very comfortable. The Wi-Fi was always available, which was important to me, since I work when I travel. I never lacked for hot water and the home is very, very clean. They even supply filtered water for you to take on your excursions about town. The main Plaza is a very interesting 20-minute walk and I made friends with some of the shopkeepers along the way.
When in Arequipa, I will always arrange to stay with Adela and Manuel! I am so glad I found them on AirBnB. Thank you for making my introduction to Peru a wonderful one!
We stayed with Adela and Manuel over Christmas and New Year and had a wonderful time. They are great hosts and went out of their way to include us in the holiday celebrations with their friends and family. Adela taught me how to make some peruvian dishes and we went on a day trip to a nearby village with them one day. They know a lot about Arequipa and are very pleased to share information and advice. Adela and Manuel have great senses of humour and are a wonderfully affectionate couple. It is a joy to be around them. We would definitely recommend them and hope to be back again some day.
Adela and Manuel are wonderful hosts--very welcoming and kind. The breakfasts were delicious, especially Adela's homemade jam, and the room was comfortable and clean. Both hosts went out of their way to help me get around and had lots of helpful advice. Highly recommended!
