Nestled into 80 undisturbed acres in the Ozarks, our farm provides a unique getaway opportunity. Meet free-roaming alpacas, goats, chickens, and our guardian dogs. Marked hiking trails lead from the cabin through the woods, down to Columbine Falls and up through maturing oak stands. Enjoy 2 provided hammocks in the hammock Paddock in front of the cabin -perfect for stargazing, or pull up a stool at the private Lafferty Cabin Bar along the trail to watch the sun set over the rugged Ozark hills.

The space
Our cabin is unique and very remote from any well-traveled road. We have a Solis Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot. Cost is $10 per every 24 hours if you'd like it.

Until March, we are in WINTER MODE. There is no shower or kitchen sink. A flush toilet and sink are a short walk from the cabin in a heated building at our event center.

Rock Climber? we are 5 miles away from Peter's Branch in Mark Twain National Forest

Archery? we are 4 miles away from Grundy Memorial Wildlife Area field archery range trail

ATV driver? We are 21 miles from Mark Twain National Forest Chadwick Motorcycle and ATV Use Area

Trail Runner? We have a very scenic 1.5 mile EXTREMELY LOW TRAFFIC gravel road for running. Some flat areas, some hilly. We also have a trail loop through our property to hike or run on.

Do you like Alpacas and Goats? Our alpacas free-range during the day. They enjoy giving guests the stink-eye, but they do not spit or kick at people. We sell raw fiber and roving from our animals. Our goats are usually fenced but easily accesible.

EV Driver? Our 50 amp RV hookup will charge your vehicle near the cabin. Please let us know in advance if you are driving an EV

Because of the current -pandemic- circumstances in which we all find ourselves these days, we are working on prioritizing safety for our guests as well as for ourselves and our children. Our aim is to meet the highest standards for non-contamination within reason from one group to the next.

The 220 sq ft cabin has 2 sleeping loft spaces with a twin and full mattress, plus a full bed on the ground floor. There is electricity, a heater, air conditioning, a mini-fridge, induction cooktop, toaster oven, french press coffee pot, Keurig coffee, and a charcoal grill outside for your use.

We provide 2 hammocks for guests at the hammock paddock outdoors.

Since we are far out in the country, it is advisable to grocery shop before you arrive for your meals and bring a cooler. We sometimes provide full meals to guests by delivering them to the porch of the cabin. Cost is $15 per person (evening) and $12 per person for breakfast or lunch. Let us know in advance if you are interested in this option!

Firewood bundles: $5
Farm Fresh Eggs: $6 dozen, $3 half-dozen

Upon booking, I will send you specific directions to arrive at our farm. We have a small library in the cabin with books for guests to enjoy.

My husband Myke and I are teachers and former world-travelers now settled down with children and livestock. In the last 5 years, we have discovered a love for goats, alpacas, and farm dogs. We were raised in the city, but love life in the country. We enjoy cooking and typically eat vegetarian. We are passionate about sustainability, Montessori education, and art.
