Nice and clean hostel with very friendly atmosphere. Rooms and bathroom are small but offering everything you need. Shared kitchen is a plus, as well as the good breakfast. Name of the place is Cabanas el Pueblo and is situeted in St. Helena, not in Monte Verde! It is a good and central location. From the hostel you can arrange and do all the excursions you want.

This is a great location and the hosts are very, very friendly and helpful. It is just right for the backpacker crowd. They were gracious, welcoming, kind and sweet. However--and this is a big however--I was covered in bites about six hours after I went to bed. We left early and moved to another hotel, because I was bitten all night long, and could not sleep. It was miserable. The bites were in lines of three or four on numerous parts of my exposed skin: hands, arms, ankles and feet. I was traveling with my mother, and she was also bitten in the same pattern, the dots have a red center. I don't want to say this because the hosts are so kind. They offered to move us to a different room, but we moved to a different hotel. We took bedbug exposure measures: put all our clothes in garbage bags, moved to a new hotel, had them launder all our clothes in hot water (expensive in this area, $15 a load) took immediate hot showers and left our empty bags out in the sun all day. We also rubbed all of our bags down with rubbing alcohol before putting the clean clothes back in them. Now we are back in the states, and I am leaving the bags in the car in the sun for 24 hours, which will kill bedbugs here in Texas. Also, and this is a small thing if you use earplugs--there is pretty loud noise in the night.

Response from Marlenny:
It's sad comment, since I never said anything about animals, only told they were allergic to soap, we tenemros very clean rooms, only this accommodation was not for you. Sorry its inconveniences, I think this only happens to you. Thank you Marlenny y Freddy

Freddy was very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and very well taken care of. There was a hot shower and cable TV which was nice during raining days. They provided a free delicious breakfast and coffee. The location is within walking distance of the town. Overall, we had a wonderful stay here and would of liked to stay longer. It's a great value for the price. P.S. There is a cat that roams around the place so don't be surprised if you find a cat under your bed one morning. :)

We stayed 4 nights and were sad to leave. So many things to do and see and the staff was very good in helping us choose and arrange our adventures. Rooms are as advertised and we are very happy with our experience.
