Tauranga is on the East Coast of the North Island, New Zealand. A must-see place with its beautiful beaches, walks and shopping. We are 5 minutes from Tauranga City Centre, 15 from the airport (with connections from throughout New Zealand) and 10 minutes to the beautiful Mount Maunganui beaches (use our boogie boards!).
We are also a 2 minute walk to the bus stop which takes you to town (leaves every half hour) - enjoy time in Tauranga shops, or catch a connecting bus from there to Mount Maunganui.
We are in leafy established suburb of Judea which is located next to the beautiful Tauranga Harbour and walkway. Great for walking, kayaking, running and mountain biking. Also very child friendly. We have a local dairy, fish and chip shop, and petrol station nearby (1 minute drive) and Burger Fuel, Pita Pit, Countdown, Sushi, Domino's (4 minute drive)
Where possible: I can do a pick up and drop off for $15 each way to: town, Mount Maunganui, Bayfair and the Airport. With prior arrangement may be able to day trips to Whakatane / Rotorua for $50 return (we are familiar with both these places having lived in Whakatane for seven years and regular mountain bikers in Rotorua). We can give you recommendations on what to see and do there and recommendations on some great places to eat.
Phone numbers of good reliable taxi services can be provided.
Alternatively if you have a car clear instructions on how to get to where you want to go to are available.
Other Things to Note
There are so many awesome things to in Tauranga. Some of our recommendations include:
- a walk to the top of the 'Mount' - where you fantastic views of the ocean, city, harbour and surrounding countryside.
- a walk / bike ride around Tauranga Harbour
- fish 'n' chips at the wharf from Bobbi's.
- a coffee from one of favourite cafes on a nice, hot sunny day.
Respectfulness of the quiet residential nature of the neighborhood.
Max two people.
Claire place was perfect, we stopped by for just 1 night and we had a (website hidden) which was pretty warm. Highly recommend their house!
I did not get to spent much time in Tauranga, but when I come back I will defiantly stay here again. Claire was a lovey host, and the sleep out was as advertised, it was spacious with everything I needed.
There was a bus stop no more than 150m from the residence with great access to both the Tauranga and Mt Maunganui CBDs, which was handy. It was also great that the sleep out is completely separate from the house, so I could come back very late with out any worry of disturbing any one. The independence was nice.
It is also only a 5 min walk from part of the harbour and the boardwalk was great for an early walk.
Overall, I would highly recommend this listing. I was very happy with my experience.
Claire was friendly and welcoming and checked in on us several times during our stay to make sure that we had everything that we needed. The studio was perfect for our weekend in Tauranga - clean, comfortable and practical. There were even fresh flowers on the kitchen counter which was a lovely touch!
If you're looking for a place to stay in Tauranga this is well worth consideration.
